The best restaurants in Westmeath

24/05/2026: I got into the pub and the music was there. A lovely group playing a nice, smooth and evolving music, bodhrán included. Just great, believe it. As a plus, beef stew was tasty. It is a good place for a chilled talk and some drinks.

21/05/2026: The best pub and bistro in Westmeath for sure !!! Food ( always such a variety to choose from, generous portions , lovely atmosphere, service just fantastic!!! We are regulars in there and always getting the best experience!🥰 definitely recommend when in Athlone 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

18/04/2026: The facilities were old, but the beds were comfortable. Also, the receptionist's attitude towards other white people was noticeably different from their attitude towards Asians. It felt like the place was small and there weren't many foreigners there.

16/04/2026: We recently had our son’s Christening in the restaurant in the Sheraton and we were absolutely blown away by the amazing service from the reservation team and the restaurant staff. The reservation team Rachel and Daniel were so quick to respond in emails and had everything organised for us- nothing was an issue! They were so efficient and arranged a lovely menu for our group which was so reasonable. The food we were served was absolutely delicious, everyone was so impressed! Joe, the restaurant manager was amazing- had a designated area for our large group and the table was decorated beautifully for our celebration. Kelly and Daniel were just fabulous servers and so attentive and really lovely to all the children too. It made our day even more special to have been looked after so well by these lovely people, we are so grateful to have had such a wonderful day. We can’t thank them enough and will definitely be back and book any future parties with them.

26/05/2026: Fine traditional Irish bar, small log fire burning (a rainy day in May). Fine pint of Guinness.

24/05/2026: Lovely family run bar in lower Main Street of Buncrana Has a unique interior with every wall decorated with wine corks There’s a couple of bars inside the pub and a nice outdoor beer garden with nice flowers and shrubs They have music on weekends and we saw a couple of good singers and band grew during the night as more musicians turned up and joined them as happens in good Irish pubs open in the day till late

21/05/2026: Wow, what a spot. Ann, what can I say. Her charm & etiquette have made this a wonderful experience. The mini dog farm & regular clientele were the cherry on top.

26/04/2026: I would sacrifice my first born to eat like that everyday. Delicious main course and desert didn’t disappoint. A beautiful river view paired with a comforting and considerate staff. Highly recommend, will definitely be dining in again. - Jack Hands down one of the best best places I’ve ever eaten!! Staff were so lovely and accommodating, food was amazing and I think I’ll be dreaming about that cheesecake for the rest of my days. Get used to us because we’ll be back- Grace

19/04/2026: Nice views, reasonably priced but carbonara was very bland. Coke had an oily film in the glass. Shame as reviews were promising

05/06/2026: An incredibly beautifully situated hotel with a huge meadow and lake. A stunning location in the countryside.

09/05/2026: The shop and restaurant are free access, the pet farm has an entrance fee. We bought ice cream in the shop. We could not sit outside in the sun without paying the entrance fee.

25/05/2026: We enjoyed a lovely lunch here. The food was delicious and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. They even brought water and treats for our dog!

05/05/2026: I love this place have been may times started during lockdown as we brought the dogs at sat outside In the garden area. Everything is great parking might be a challenge at peak times but never for us

04/05/2026: It feels a bit like a little sister of Avoca ;) The same vibe, but still quite a long way to go to reach the same level. Overall it's pretty good, nice pastries, and tasty coffee. The shop part is very pretty, you can find a lot of interesting pieces there.

29/06/2026: I ordered the Irish Beef & Guinness Stew, flavorful and delicious. Served in a bread bowl.

27/06/2026: Lovely food, dessert was especially nice; reasonable price for city centre and well decorated. Service was hit or miss, we personally found one of the staff to come across as unnecessarily sarcastic - requested ketchup and received a joking response of "no", then never brought it. We asked another member of staff who sorted us out quickly and was very pleasant. Overall, well sourced and varied ingredients but would not be in a rush back.

11/05/2026: Had a good time. The staff were friendly and helpful. Didn't realise that they only started their Al a carte service from 3. But they do carvery. Mine was delicious, I had the chicken Kiev. My boys had chips and goujons and did not like the goujons.
