The best restaurants in Westmeath

14/06/2025: This is a cracking place. I visited twice and tried a couple of different breakfasts. Generous portions, excellent cooking and attentive service. I'll be back the next time I'm passing through the town.

07/06/2025: The best restaurant in Kinnegad. Real Irish food and a family restaurant vibe. A place where you can meet the town and fill your belly. Portions usually are generous and I really love their version of the Irish stew. I hope they'll open the back patio again this summer.

07/12/2025: Food here was exceptional, pint of Guinness at 5.40 was excellent. Staff were friendly but efficient.

06/12/2025: One of the best places in Athlone; you know you’re always going to get delicious food, drinks and with great service! The setting itself is brilliant- quaint pub vibes- and live music just adds to it! Get the curry cheese chips with any main 👌🏻🥰

09/11/2025: We had a fantastic morning coffee here! This is a lovely little cafe to visit, where the staff are very welcoming and helpful; the coffee is also delicious and strong, accompanied by a perfect carrot cake recommended by one of the baristas. There are many different areas in which to sit, each offering a different atmosphere and comfortable vibe. The music was a nice, upbeat addition, and not so loud that it was hard to chat. I noted the premises is dog friendly, which makes sense given the outdoor area. The front of shop is bright and seating is well spaced throughout. The baristas brought the coffees to the table, my flat white was good and strong which was great for early in the day, and good value for €3.70 and the carrot cake with walnuts was top notch for €3.80. They have a wide selection of individual cookies, cakes and other treats on offer, as well as some more filling options.

05/11/2025: The best cappuccino and espresso in Mullingar. The Brazilian asai was nice. Lovely place, an amazing atmosphere and music. I recommended it.

11/01/2026: Absolutely unacceptable experience. We were staying due to attending a funeral and experienced horrific, extremely loud shouting around half midnight on New Year’s Eve, making it impossible to rest or sleep. While the apartment itself was lovely, that counts for very little when you’re subjected to such disturbance at an already difficult time. What made it worse was the hotel’s response - they were unwilling to issue a full refund and only eventually offered 50% back. This shows very poor standards and a complete lack of understanding or compassion. Extremely disappointing and would not recommend.

11/01/2026: No heat or hot water, noisy surroundings, and very poor Wi-Fi. The only positives were the early check-in and the food at breakfast and in the restaurant. We stayed in an apartment with a baby, with the baby’s room facing the corridor. Guests across from us were very noisy until around 11 PM, including loud TV and cheering, which made it difficult for a baby to sleep. Later in the evening, there was no hot water and the heating was not working. The boost button did not help. I was unable to contact reception at the time as the phone was in the baby’s room, the Wi-Fi was too poor for the baby monitor to work, and reception was located in another building. I was also alone with the baby. When I raised this with reception in the morning, I was blamed for not reporting it during the night rather than being offered an apology, which was disappointing. Overall, a very frustrating experience.

18/01/2026: I truly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The view from the room was absolutely magical — exactly as I had imagined and hoped for. The room itself was very cozy, elegant, and everything was done to the highest standard with great attention to detail. I would like to give special thanks for the small birthday surprise you organized for my boyfriend. It was incredibly sweet and thoughtful, and it made his special day even more memorable. The restaurant was outstanding — the food was delicious and truly high quality. The service was very polite, professional, and attentive to every detail. A special thank you to our waiter, Mathew, who was exceptionally kind and provided us with an amazing dining experience. The only thing I would like to mention is that the young man working at the reception near the pool behaved somewhat dismissively towards us. I wouldn’t say he was rude, but in a hotel of this level, the attitude should definitely be better. Everything else was absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much for such an unforgettable experience in such a beautiful place. 5/5 ❤️

04/12/2025: I ordered a Veg Biryani for takeaway and received it in no time. As for the food — both the quality and quantity were outstanding. I’ve never had such a good biryani in Ireland before, where quality and quantity come together so perfectly. ( Veg Biriyani🙂)

29/12/2025: The place is really cute and cosy, such a cosy spot to relax. The service was excellent, we felt very well looked after. The food is absolutely amazing! I loved the fish and chips, full of flavour, and the apple vinaigrette was such a lovely surprise — it went perfectly. The portion was generous and really satisfying.

16/01/2026: Came for partners 40th meal with family that were visiting from LithuaniaFood was delicious. All the staff were so nice especially Tomas. The beef and Guinness stew was amazing. We will be back soon.
