The best restaurants in Westmeath

18/04/2026: The facilities were old, but the beds were comfortable. Also, the receptionist's attitude towards other white people was noticeably different from their attitude towards Asians. It felt like the place was small and there weren't many foreigners there.

16/04/2026: We recently had our son’s Christening in the restaurant in the Sheraton and we were absolutely blown away by the amazing service from the reservation team and the restaurant staff. The reservation team Rachel and Daniel were so quick to respond in emails and had everything organised for us- nothing was an issue! They were so efficient and arranged a lovely menu for our group which was so reasonable. The food we were served was absolutely delicious, everyone was so impressed! Joe, the restaurant manager was amazing- had a designated area for our large group and the table was decorated beautifully for our celebration. Kelly and Daniel were just fabulous servers and so attentive and really lovely to all the children too. It made our day even more special to have been looked after so well by these lovely people, we are so grateful to have had such a wonderful day. We can’t thank them enough and will definitely be back and book any future parties with them.

09/08/2026: Ordered wraps for takeaway. Decent place and value. Seemed a bit quiet - but food was fresh and spice level was decent.

27/07/2026: The food is fabulous and also eally fresh and authentic. We had chicken wings with Indian spices, chicken curry, rice, garlic nan and a kebab. Everything was gorgeous, would definitely go again. Very good menu choices and vegetarian. They mostly do takeaway but they have small seating area too if you want to eat in. No wine. Service excellent

28/07/2026: We arrived by boat in the early afternoon and sat down in the outdoor seating area. Although four different employees were visible, we weren't served. After 15 minutes, I had to get up and get drinks myself from the bar and learned that the kitchen wouldn't reopen for another half hour. So far, a clearly negative review: 1/5 Now for the positives: As soon as we waved a server over (we were hungry and wanted a light meal), she was cheerful and provided excellent service. We made a reservation for the evening inside, and there, too, we were completely satisfied with the service. 5/5 Food: Simple, but solid. It met the expected price-performance ratio. Conclusion: Always remain friendly. This is how a seemingly negative experience can turn into a positive one.

11/05/2026: Had a good time. The staff were friendly and helpful. Didn't realise that they only started their Al a carte service from 3. But they do carvery. Mine was delicious, I had the chicken Kiev. My boys had chips and goujons and did not like the goujons.

29/06/2026: I really friendly pub on a rainy evening. Yummy pizza and a great few pints of Guinness 😀

21/05/2026: Cozy pub, quite busy inside. Had pizza for 12 euros and it was really tasty, nice and hot. TVs showing sports. People were playing pool inside. And friendly customers who strike up a conversation. I was alone and that felt fine in this pub. Nice place to go if you are staying at the campsite for a night and don't want to cook.

22/05/2026: Fantastic food & reasonably priced. Have to mention the wonderful staff member who looked after us the last 2 Thursdays we visited (approx 5pm - tall blonde hair) She is an absolute credit to herself & the Chambers, warm, welcoming, friendly, super efficient & great at her job. Nothing is too much trouble for her, she definitely deserves promotion 👏👏👏

11/04/2026: Best food, best staff and best atmosphere in the town of mullingar. So warm and inviting. Cliodna is a beautiful character (girl with blonde braids on Saturday night) dont know if i spelled her name right but she is a true asset to the buisness, shes friendly, warm and brings character and comedy to the service. She deserves a pay rise. Just saying 😆

19/07/2026: My husband and I went to Sahara Restaurant in Mullingar for his birthday, and we had such a lovely experience. The food was absolutely amazing, everything was so fresh, delicious and full of flavour. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the evening even more special. We really enjoyed everything and will definitely be back again. Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

31/07/2026: Me and my family went here after a couple of locals recommended it. Really nice food and good portions too! We were stuffed afterwards. The upstairs area is very nice too, especially if you are looking for something a bit quieter. Definitely will be coming back here again :)

13/06/2026: Lunch stop on our way through town. We had chicken wraps (1 Cajun & 1 sweet and sour). They were both full with chicken and salad and very tasty. Service was lovely and very friendly, despite being quite busy.

25/07/2026: Staff are great, very friendly and helpful. We were there as part of an event with a set menu and can't really say about ” regular menu" but what we had was lovely. Would happily visit again when we're in Athlone.

17/06/2026: Went there and sat down.. sign and location says food daily.. to be told they do not serve food during the week. Drove 16 kms to get here. Diaappointed.
