11/03/2024: The Jia Jia has for years been and still is the best Chinese in the Midlands! The food is absolutely delicious, so authentic and always excellent! The service is fantastic whether you dine in or have take-away/delivery. The owners and staff are so accommodating, efficient and friendly. Out of any Chinese cuisine I have tried ANYWHERE in Ireland, the Jia Jia will always be the best!! Family run business too which is a bonus.

26/03/2024: First awful experience I had here and I’ve been coming since it opened. The bigger girl with the white collar jumper making the coffees needs a serious attitude adjustment. I walked up to query where my order was and she greeted me “what ya want?”!! To be then told it’s on its way, and then we received the wrong order. I know mistakes can happen and that’s fine but manners and attitude say a lot about a business. The only saving Grace was the fella with the pony tail at the till. Probably will be back in fairness but I hope the one with the attitude isn’t there.

26/03/2024: I've been using the Athlone Springs Hotel for over 10 years now & I can't fault it. I regularly use their meeting room facilities & their accommodation. I've found them to be of the highest standard. From the moment you enter the hotel you'll find all the staff friendly & helpful from the reception desk to the conference staff & the amazing breakfast team. All go above & beyond to make your stay as stress free & comfortable as possible. I've stayed in many hotels throughout Ireland & I would rate the Athlone Springs Hotel as the No.1 for hospitality & service. A special mention to Nicole in conference & events who is an absolute asset to the team & has made all my booking a breeze to organise. Book the Athlone Springs with confidence & you're sure to return again.

17/03/2024: Extremely dissapointed. I can honestly say this is the worst 4 star hotel I have ever been in. I booked a double room for 2 nights, when we arrived we just dropped our bags and went for lunch, where i had two glasses of wine which is why i HAD to spend 1 night here. If i had noticed the bed etc before i would have left, a lot of places put 2 singles together to make a double... but they are normally two level mattress! there was a 3-4 inch difference in height with the mattress and the bed felt very old. I then moved over to the single bed to try and sleep but that was sinking becase of broken springs and it had lots of squeaks and noise when just rolling over. It is over rated and over priced. It was also flity which with every thing covid-19 was quite concerning straight away, There were handprints on the doors, the hall doors were closed which defeated the point of santaising your hands, then having to push through 4 doors to get to your room 🤔The headboards were dusty not cleaned at all, the bed bases were dirty and uncovered, the phone was full of dust. The carpets were full of stains. VERY limited tv stations which wouldn't normally bother me but with the fact that you can't go out or sit in the bar the ball was dropped here, i mean the basic sky package would have made a huge difference. Netflix was on the TV but you had to use your own login so if you didn't have an netflix account it was pointless. The whole place needs to be updated Early morning constant doors banging, neighbours had a noise complaint where the night manager came up and told them to keep it down, when they were just chatting, while a party was going on in a room up the hall and nothing was said to them. Staff were not apologetic when i told them why i was leaving, honestly it was as if this was an everyday occurance, like ugh another one. They didn't even have the decincy to offer a refund, This was the most disappointing booking i have ever made, I wouldn't give the Athlone Springs 1star, but as it is the lowest rating your allowed I didn't have a choice. I would never revisit nor does it give me much hope for future staycations this year 🤨

25/03/2024: Had a family get together. 7pm sit down. 4 at table. Wait time about 2 mins. So friendly helpful, knowledge, and great staff at work. Food arrived fresh and hot. 1 star lost for an uncomfortable chair. I will be back with the extensive menu that's available.

05/02/2024: Food was pretty average. I always notice that there seems to be a smell of burnt grease in the air. It was quite expensive. Doubt I'll return.

31/03/2024: Been to this place on many occasions. I used to order their Irish Breakfast. I used to enjoyed it until recently. Used to come with hashbrown & mushroom. Now mushroom replaced by slice potatoes and mushroom is missing. For now, I will give their Irish breakfast a miss. Not for me. But their seafood chowder still a must try. Still as delicious as ever. The waitress are all very nice, courteous and pleasant. 5*. Ambience is great too. Nice & clean place. In summary, recommended place for a quick meal.

03/04/2024: This was a nice place to visit for a couple of days over the Easter break. It was excellent value; I have seen other hotels pricing at a multiple of what we paid for 2 nights b&b, with one dinner included. To summarise: Good: The kids club was a godsend, at 15 euro per child (which included a meal) for three hours of activities. It was not just a break for us, the kids really enjoyed it too. Bar food and carvery were really nice. The bar had a very good cocktail menu which I was not expecting, and the bar was well staffed at all times. Some parts of the hotel are a little dated, but they seem to be in the process of upgrading. Decor in our room was lovely, and the bar area is very nice also. Staff - every person we spoke to was pleasant and helpful. Not so good: The food in the restaurant wasn't great. The lettuce in the caesar salad came in brown clumps, seemingly chopped days earlier or out of a bag pre-chopped. The pork fillet was completely overcooked, as was the steak - ordered medium but came very very well done and then some. The heat in the bedroom was insane. The radiator pumped out heat all night long. The radiator has a radiator cover fitted with a hole in the side to access the gauge - but the hole is on the wrong side, meaning the gauge cant be accessed. We had to sleep with no blankets, window open and the fan on all night it was so hot (I suspect this is a known issue, given they supply a fan, in Ireland, in March) Overall, I would definitely recommend a stay here, especially for people with young kids. 3 stars may be a little harsh (I would give 3.5 if I could) but is based on the lack of sleep from the sauna-like room.
