07/10/2025: Excellent spot for food. Stopped for a small brickie this morning. Had a beautifully done poached egg on toast with a pot of tea. Reasonably priced. Normally I stop for a lunch or dinner and the food is always well presented, well cooked and an very adequate choice from a reasonably priced menu.

10/11/2025: Bacchus has a nice atmosphere and good food overall. The pizza was excellent — full of flavour and perfectly cooked. The pasta carbonara wasn’t my favourite, so I wouldn’t recommend that dish, but everything else was enjoyable. Worth a visit, especially for the pizza!

01/11/2025: Bacchus is a wonderful restaurant in Athlone. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is excellent. The view of the River Shannon adds a special charm to the place. Highly recommended. I’ll definitely be back.

26/11/2025: We had a wonderful evening at Fatted Calf. The ambiance was beautiful, and lovely background music played softly. The welcome was warm and inviting. The service was attentive, humorous, and never intrusive! The food was divine! The combination of the appetizer with the black pudding croquettes, the scallops, and the various sauces was an explosion of flavor! Thank you! For the main course, the meat was tender and juicy with a delicious chimichurri sauce. Wonderful! The desserts were simply amazing! Our restaurant visit was the highlight of our time here in Athlone!
