Alfies

Dublin
04/07/2026: This is a review of 2 separate visits, 6 years apart. In 2020, Alfie's served creme brulee. It is still the absolute best I ever had. It somehow had like a 1 inch sugar crust but the rest of the custard was still creamy and smooth and cool. As for the rest, food is above average, drinks are good and well priced, and the vibe is very chill. Even 6 years apart, aside from no more creme brulee, Alfie's is still a hit with my wife and myself.
01/07/2026: We came to dinner the fajitas were good, but the waiters could be more attentive. We had to ask for napkins two or three times.

Ruby's Pizza & Grill Point Square

Dublin
14/06/2026: Gorgeous food, service was 10/10 (Think our main person was called Dee - absolute sweetheart....So helpful & chatty & very cool eye make up)......Drinks were lovely. I ordered the goat salad with chicken & totally cleared my plate. Also for the table, chicken wings & Nachos. Zero complaints. We got lucky with no concert on. Super chilled & we sat outside. Was exactly as we'd hoped. Very polite staff. Great atmosphere.
05/06/2026: Service was non-existent. Food was very poor. The chips were rubbish, tasted like cheap frozen chips. The striploin steak was inedible, mostly gristle. We reported it and nothing was done about it, not even an apology. Some of the staff were even quite rude. The portions were small. The restaurant itself was dirty and noisy. Rubys used to be a good spot so not sure what has changed. I won't go back.

Bison Bar

Dublin
29/04/2026: THE BEST! Booked due to the great reviews and suggestions, and wow - expectations were exceeded! Sharing platter for 2 was amazing, every meat was delicious and juicy. Sides were lovely too. Can’t thank the lovely server and kitchen staff for my partners birthday dessert - and the happy birthday song! Will return on our next visit for sure 🩷
27/04/2026: After visiting here i firmly believe those positive reviews are by those who have consumed copious amounts of alcohol so there observations and senses are greatly compromised. I visited Bison Bar recently, booking it purely because I had received a Press Up / Eclective voucher and saw it listed on their website. Having had consistently great experiences at other venues within that group, I trusted that this would be of a similar standard. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by a staff member who was friendly, cheerful, and professional, which created a very positive first impression. However, the service that followed contrasted sharply with this. A different server, with short brown hair, took our order and approached the table with a blunt “What can I get you?” as her opening line, without any greeting. As it was our first time visiting, we had a few reasonable questions about portion sizes and menu options. Her responses were curt and dismissive, and she appeared visibly inconvenienced that she had to answer questions rather than simply take an order and move on. During the meal, I also observed behaviour that I found particularly unprofessional. After serving a nearby table, she removed an empty glass and, as she turned away and walked past us, I clearly saw her roll her eyes in apparent frustration at the customer’s request for another drink. It reinforced the impression that customers were being treated as a nuisance rather than being welcomed. Not long after, her demeanour shifted noticeably, becoming overly upbeat and chatty with other tables. This made me feel that she may have overheard me discussing her behaviour with my partner, or realised that I had seen what she had done. The food was the most disappointing aspect. The tacos were dry, with shells that seemed stale and cracked, and the fillings were lacking in quality. The meat dishes were heavily covered in overly sweet barbecue sauce, which felt like it was masking poor-quality ingredients. Even the sides, including the coleslaw, were unpalatable. We didn’t finish our meal and chose to leave despite still being hungry. Overall, this experience fell far below expectations, particularly given its association with a group known for higher standards. It’s not somewhere I would have chosen independently, and unfortunately it hasn’t lived up to the reputation that led us there in the first place.

Asador

Dublin
02/05/2026: Down from Donegal for a midweek gig. We had been recommended Asador by a friend. My significant other is a pescetarian and loved the look of the non meat elements on the menu so we thought we'd give it a go. Firstly, we were eating early so had the place to ourselves to begin with, and how lucky we were as the staff were SO friendly. Food wise we shared 3 small plates and had a main dish each. We went Porcini orzo, Cabbage and Crab for the small plates. All incredible but the standout was the cabbage! I don't know what witchcraft they worked on it but it was as far from the vegetable of my childhood that it's possible to get. For mains we went Swordfish and Monkfish. The Swordfish was the best I've eaten and the Monkfish was shown no mercy either. We had a smoked tenderstem broccoli side which was also superb. For dessert we shared the basque cheesecake which made me wish I'd the room to eat it all myself. Then to finish we had 2 coffees which was the best coffee I've drunk in a very long time. Maybe if you read this review you can tell me what coffee you served us? We also loved the quirky prints on the wall. Thank you to all of you for making us feel so welcome. It was the perfect start to a great night. I am counting the days until I get back to try the meat! Big love!
25/04/2026: Exceptionally high standard of Barbecue. The seafood is just top drawer. Great friendly helpful service. My second time here and honestly one of my favourite restaurants.

13/06/2026: Fun idea, having a burger store inside a pub. I would appreciate a bigger selection of vegetarian burgers, since I did not like the veggie patty. Quality of burgers and toppings is good though. Price okay.

Chopped

Dublin
18/09/2025: Good place to have a salad. Something different to the majority of restaurants and pubs.
09/09/2025: The food is good and healthy, BUT EVERYTHING IS DISPOSABLE! The plates, the cutlery, the glasses… where's the sustainability? The amount of packaging that could be saved every day.

Lisboa Pastelaria

Dublin
02/11/2025: Food was pretty decent and a pretty reasonable price. My sandwich only had a single slice of bacon in it but was delicious nonetheless. Newt was over the moon with his beef sandwich and we both enjoyed the pastel de nata, newt was very happy to have a vegan option and I enjoyed my raspberry one. I think my iced chai came from a powder but then I can’t expect a Portuguese cafe to be the experts in chai can I?
31/10/2025: Good not great. I got a chai, the chorizo and cheese sandwich and a chocolate pastel de nata all for €16. Not bad for the price. However the sandwich size was small and could’ve been filled with more chorizo, and the chai was much too milky. The pastel de nata was good! I liked the chocolate touch. The sides were a wee bit burnt, but that’s okay, it was nothing major. Atmosphere was cute and nice for a quick lil solo coffee date, glad I went, but would probably only go back for a pastry

Castle Tea Rooms

Dublin
15/12/2025: We had a breakfast here for two days (Saturday and Sunday). Both days we really enjoyed the view. What surprised me is that both days I ordered the same, but I liked the sandwich as well as the hot chocolate more the first day. The second day I was a bit disappointed, it wasn’t the same. Even though, really nice staff and a lovely place to enjoy your meal. Santa sandwich for 9€ and hot chocolate for 4€.
10/12/2025: It's delicious, I was there for breakfast, there were not many visitors, but it's very atmospheric and cozy.
