Wilde & Green
Dublin
20/11/2025: Wilde and Green in Milltown is one of those places that seems to have been designed by someone with excellent taste and absolutely no interest in where you’re supposed to park your car. You arrive hungry, optimistic, and ready for lunch, only to find a small car park across the road that appears to operate on a first come, first serve, and good-luck-to-you system. There are, technically, two spaces outside, but they are about as attainable as front-row tickets to a sold-out gig.
Once you manage to wedge your vehicle somewhere within the general postcode, however, things take a turn for the better.
I went in with my uncle for an early lunch. He ordered the breakfast sandwich, I took the chicken sandwich, and both arrived pre-made but warmed up to a level that, against all odds, actually works. My uncle then demolished a scone with the enthusiasm of a man who has found his true calling. The coffees followed: he became an instant devotee of their cappuccinos, while I stuck with an americano that did exactly what it was supposed to do without making a fuss about it.
The staff were sound, friendly, and helpful in the kind of effortless way that makes you forgive nearly anything. They’ve also got a gourmet range of bits you can take home, all of which look dangerously tempting, especially if you're the type who shouldn’t be trusted with a credit card while hungry.
In the end, Wilde and Green is one of those spots that would be almost perfect if someone could simply magic twenty extra parking spaces into existence. But once you’re inside, with a warm sandwich, a good coffee, and the faint smell of baked goods calling your name, you forget the minor battle you had outside.
Worth a visit. Just bring patience for the parking.

Mannings Bakery
Dublin
27/05/2026: Just dropped in as hadn't been for a while, Americano, fruit scone and cream for less than 8 euro, great value and good vibe.
25/05/2026: My experience with this company was disappointing, primarily due to the poor communication and customer service throughout the ordering process.
There was a clear language barrier during a telephone conversation. I asked a simple yes-or-no question, but instead of answering it directly, the staff member interrupted me and began explaining how to place an order, which was not what I had asked. By this point, there had already been more than 15 emails exchanged between us.
I politely requested that the staff member read through the previous email correspondence so they could fully understand my enquiry and the responses I had already received. Unfortunately, this request was refused, and the conversation became defensive, leaving me with no option but to contact the shop directly.
Even when calling the shop, it took a considerable amount of time for someone to answer. It was frustrating that the matter could not have been properly clarified through email beforehand. The quality of the email communication was also disappointing, with numerous spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors that came across as unprofessional.
I had enquired about three different cakes because I was trying to decide which option would be most suitable, which is a perfectly reasonable question when placing an order. However, the response I received was difficult to understand and did not adequately answer my enquiry.
On a positive note, the cake itself was beautifully presented and looked fantastic. However, I found the artificial cream filling tasted unusual and was not to my liking. When collecting the cake, I was also asked for a code or reference number, which I had not been informed I would need. Additionally, as a visitor from outside Ireland, I was unaware that an address and telephone number were required to make a reservation or order. This information could and should have been communicated more clearly by staff in advance.
I am genuinely surprised that a business with over 60 years of experience communicates with customers in this manner. While the cake presentation was excellent, the overall customer service, communication, and ordering experience fell well below expectations. Had this not been for my child’s birthday, I would likely have taken my business elsewhere. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not use this company again.

The Market Bar
Dublin
10/05/2026: Came here late night for drinks, music, and the vibe, and had such a good time. This place is HUGE with multiple sections, so there was always something going on and different music throughout the venue. The bartenders were nice, drinks were good and reasonably priced, and the DJs kept the energy up all night. One thing that really stood out was how kind and attentive the security staff were — they genuinely seemed to care about people being safe coming and going. Even though I didn’t eat here, I would absolutely come back again for the nightlife experience.
10/05/2026: Tapas are available around 10 pm, which is late for dinner in Dublin. The restaurant is very well decorated, with a modern industrial vibe, a DJ, and a covered, heated terrace out front for dancing and drinks. It closes late.

The Lord Edward
Dublin
14/12/2025: Old, cosy traditional pub, with genuinely nice staff (shout out to young dark haired bartender who had the patience of a saint). Great buzzy atmosphere. Will call again!
05/12/2025: The Lord Edward made it onto my “Dublin Pub Crawl” list thanks to a bartender at the Guinness Gravity Bar who swore it had a great pint of Guinness and insisted we check out the upstairs. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the upstairs was closed. Still no idea what is up there or why it was recommended.
This is a small pub with a unique bar layout and plenty of age behind it. And by “age,” I mean it has not seen a remodel in a very, very long time. The men’s room is basically just a wall with a drain on the floor (which I found highly amusing), and according to the bartenders, the women’s bathroom used to be a broom closet that was converted once women were allowed into pubs. That alone tells you everything you need to know about how much this place has changed over the years. Very authentic and cool in its own way.
We stopped in late on a Thursday night. The crowd was wrapping up, so we managed two rounds before last call. The bartenders signal last call the old school way, by flicking the lights on and off. Gave me a good laugh.
As for the pint… it was okay. One bartender knew what he was doing and poured a proper Guinness. The other poured it the way Americans do when they have no idea what they are doing, and he did it consistently.
I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to The Lord Edward and got plenty of laughs out of the whole experience. The company was great and the pub absolutely has character. Now, if we can only get that one bartender on board with pouring Guinness correctly…
We still want to know what is upstairs.
