Aprile Restaurant
Dublin
26/03/2026: Another place that seems to want to redefine what a carbonara is.
Pancetta instead of guanciale.
Parmesan instead of pecorino.
Cream for no reason whatsoever.
If I order a gin + tonic do you make it with vodka? Just call it something else guys. It's not carbonara.
10/03/2026: I have been a frequent customer here and at home over the last 10 years. The owner has allways been a gentleman and customer focused. However, the restaurant has had a manageress for a while and she really has no manners or appreciation for her customers, her poor attitude naturally rubs off the other floor staff, as I like many others I have noticed the drop in the good standards.
My most recent experience and last straw for me was when I ordered a delivery, after waiting for 1.5hrs and no sign off the food, I phoned and cancelled my order. I spoke with the manageress. Well, I was spoken to like a child because I cancelled my order! The manageress really need to learn manners and show some respect for your customers whether they are long established or not.
Moreover, when you don't deliver in the proposed time, you do not blame the customer for cancelling food that is 45mins late!
More IMPORTANTLY, you don't charge the customer for a cancelled order!!!
I don't believe the above would have happened had the owner been involved, but again, he was allways customer focused which is paramount to business success in the service industry.

Kane/McCartney's SuperValu Talbot Street
Dublin
09/03/2026: Really handy shop in a great central location. I've been in a few times and it's always been clean, well stocked, and easy to get around. For a city centre supermarket, the selection is actually very good, especially for fresh food and quick lunch options. Staff have been friendly whenever I needed help, and the whole place feels modern and well run. Definitely one of the better shops in the area
31/01/2026: The supermarket is very small, and I've always reached it on foot, a pleasant stroll. However, I've never done a "big" purchase there because the selection isn't very varied and the prices aren't among the lowest in the area. However, unlike other supermarkets, I found a large pack of Barry's Tea to take home as a souvenir here. The advantage is that I didn't have to wait in line at the checkout, and payment was very quick.
Friendly staff at the entrance and exit of the store.

The Gables
Dublin
13/04/2026: Went for breakfast recently. The service was appalling and bad mannered and the food was very disappointing, We will not be back
28/03/2026: It's a great place. We were here for the first time, but I really liked it. It was a March visit, so it wasn't very warm, but we sat in a sort of gazebo. It was nice because it was heated. The service was friendly and very fast. We were all impressed. The dishes came and went as if they were just waiting to be served, which was a plus. The food itself was very good. The shrimp appetizer was excellent, and the sirloin steak was prepared perfectly. A good beer made the dinner even more enjoyable.

The Cake Cafe
Dublin
11/01/2026: Great little gem out the back entrance of a wonderfully chaotic second hand bookshop. The cakes were delicious and the staff helped create a friendly atmosphere. Note: it’s better to enter through the bookshop over the strange back alley route.
23/12/2025: A truly special, tucked-away cafe with gorgeous cakes and scones and other treats baked on site. Food portions are large, hospitality is warm and generous, and it's a peaceful spot to spend an afternoon. Abundant courtyard seating (with heaters) for the warmly dressed (my first visit was in December). Highly recommended for people who want a Dublin oasis within an easy walk of Grafton/St. Stephen's/etc.
Also of note: While the cafe has been in business for a couple of decades, it changed hands this year and the new owner, Julio, was on site, very warmly welcoming, and seems to have a happy staff working for him.
UPDATE: Just noting after several more visits that my first impression has only cemented into a conviction that this is a world-class cafe and people who take the time to seek it out will leave feeling like the luckiest and best-liked customers who have ever visited.

Nando's
Dublin
22/04/2026: Visiting Nando’s is like taking a little trip to flavor heaven! The heart of every meal here is PERi-PERi, a unique African Bird’s Eye Chili that brings a perfect kick to each bite. You can taste the history in every dish, as this chili, combined with a hint of lemon and garlic, has been used in Southeast African cooking for ages, adding fire and personality to every meal.
When I went, the options felt endless – from juicy flame-grilled chicken, perfectly basted in sauces from mild to extra spicy, to burgers, wraps, and pittas with sides that made it hard to choose just one. Whether you’re there for a quick meal, a fun family dinner, or grabbing takeout, Nando’s has that unmistakable energy and vibe. It’s a place that makes you want to come back for more of that legendary flavor.
21/04/2026: Good food and good service as always

The Village Inn
Dublin
06/02/2026: Grand spot altogether. Staff were sound and on the ball, food was savage with good portions, and everything ran smooth. Toilets spotless, seating comfortable, and the atmosphere was great once it got going.
18/11/2025: Grand spot, was at niece's 21s
Plenty of seating.. lighting was poor, a lot of missing bulbs in area. . Toilets clean, place was cold, as door for smoking area. Food service was very good, good selection of food on platters. Also bar staff good and friendly, just a better selection of non alcoholic beverages would have been good....
Overall good spot... Second time been at this location. Downstairs before and good food, service ect .... Well done guys. Just parking could be looked at... As we were coming from outside area .. n required car ect .

Hole in the Wall
Dublin
09/09/2025: Great place for food and drink. Always a lovely atmosphere and the staff are very friendly.
30/08/2025: Came here for a family lunch, and I simply can’t fault a single thing. From the high quality food to the fantastic service, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Although slightly on the pricier side, it is well worth the investment. The cocktails were delicious. Thank you so much to the amazing staff for such a lovely meal. Will certainly be back!

Salamanca
Dublin
24/04/2026: Had a late lunch here yesterday with my two daughters. One had chicken and chorizo paella and we had some tapas. The gambas pil pil was swimming in some ghastly red oil couldn't eat the prawns which tasted very strange, patas bravas and meatballs reheated. All fairly ghastly. Staff pleasant enough didn't ask if everything was ok they knew it wasn't.
24/04/2026: 5 stars every time.Food is great, great selection, staff are wonderful, you can book ahead. They are lucky to have a wonderful mangeress in Ashling. A must if you like Tapas.

Cocobrew
Dublin
07/08/2025: Lovely coffee and friendly staff.
20/06/2025: The CoCoBrew van joined us for Day 2 of our wedding celebrations, and they were an absolute hit! From the moment they arrived, they brought such a fun and relaxed energy to the day—and the coffee, cocktails, and baked goods were all next level. After a big day and night of celebrating, guests were raving about how CoCoBrew was the perfect elixir to bring them back to life!
Whether it was the coffee, cocktails, or a sweet treat, everything they served was delicious and exactly what we all needed. The service was top notch too—friendly, efficient, and full of smiles. The team were an absolute pleasure to deal with throughout, and they made everything so easy and seamless.
CoCoBrew truly added something special to our Day 2, and we’re so glad we had them there. We’ve had so many guests mention how brilliant it was—and we couldn’t agree more. Highly, highly recommend!

Filipino Bakery and Café
Dublin
12/11/2025: Came into the city to specifically try this place . I would describe it as average . The food was ok , portions not huge , Weather its value for money im not sure. The description of fresh pork and fresh beef is a bit of a stretch. Its tasty but id be surprised if its cooked fresh every day , that said i could be wrong . No real complaints , if you were walking past it might be worth popping in but for me its not a return destination . The Bakery part of the establishment doesnt overly impress by presentation or impression of freshly baked goods but the blueberry muffin we bought was delicious and extremely fresh tasting , if i thought the other produce tasted as good i would have bought more, its mostly in pre packed in bags so it didnt look appealing but the muffin was excellent. We were the only ones there so wouldn't judge the atmosphere . The welcome was functional rather than friendly. Asked to take some of the meal home as we didn't finish it , provided with a plastic bag . As it contained a lot of sauce I understand a box wouldn't work but in our local Japanese restaurant charging similar prices for far superior food , they put it in a plastic bowl . I think there is a gap in the market for Filipino restaurant/ diner but this place at its current location , charging what it does , I don't think will last . They'd be better off selling it as fast food out of a mobile unit at pop up locations .
04/11/2025: Great food and nice staff, very hard to find a place like this in Dublin
