Eat at NCI

Dublin
12/03/2026: The word "accountability" is not in their vocabulary. I feel sorry for the lecturers and disability officers that actually care to do a good job and actually care about student success, because their efforts are completely drowned out by the incompetency of the majority of the administration there.i attended 2 online courses. The first they told me was necessary to complete (certificate in computing) in order to qualify for the Higher Diploma in Computing specialising in AI and ML. Turns out, the certifivate was useless, just a way for the college to demand more monet from students or Springboard. It was an wxact duplicate of half the AI and ML course. I was exempt from half the course, so I wasted an entire year for nothing, when I could have done it all in the 1 year of the HD. TO make matters worse, as class rep, instead of doing class rep duties, I was basically a lecturer admin for the entirety of the second half of the course in 2026. Instead of spending my time studying, I had to spend the majority of the time chasing lecturers and their missing course content for the students who were stopped dead in their tracks from being able to study that week's material, because it didn't exist yet, even though we were expected to access it and learn from it one week PRIOR. I had to escalate all the way to the President, because lecturers were saying they were not in charge of uploading content, the Programme Coordinator (who very clearly is not fit for the position, as she did her best to not do anything if at all possible, and then accuse you of being aggressive when you lose your patience) would send you a two-line email saying they will ask the lecturers, then you'd hear nothing and when following up you'd get a one-line email saying they emailed the lecturers again, and so what other options do I have but to escalate to the highest authority to get anything done? For 3 weeks, students had no material to study from, then there are students with disabilities like myself, that feel even more behind due to the natural consequence of having a learning disability. And don't get me started on the amount of ableism the Programme Coordinator displayed. So much so that I felt I had to start CC'ing the Disability Officers in all our communication to keep her in check, and she would constantly remove them, even after my asking her not to. I had to create a separate email addredsing that specifically so she had no excuse of not having "seen that part of the email". Only then did she stop doing it. I was babysitting the lecturers AND the Programme Coordinator. This disorganisation and inefficiency of their institution is absolutely insane, and that is coming from an ADHD person! Then there's the lecturers themselves... one in particular has paranoia about bring recorded or putting anything in writing and it's obvious why. He has a foul attitude. He says he loves teaching but teaching also means caring for your students and their success, therefore needing patience and grace and he has neither. He did the support classed for OOSE and despite the Springboard rule demanding he records the classes, he refused to do it. He supported nothing. He refused to give examples so we could apply the topic's knowledge and kept treating us like children that just wanted to copy off the teacher's homework, when we repeatedly said that's not what we were asking. Then we found him teaching statistics and it became obvious it's not leaching he loves, but having a position of power over others and talking about his favourite subject. That's not teaching, that's doing presentations at a conpany, so he might as well just go do that instead, so he will yell at disabled students no more. And other lecturers are either broken-English-galore or I-just-want-to-read-you-slides-don't-ask-me-questions galore. What an awful, awful college and I am surprised they are still running. I will be writing to the Minister of Education about them. This was inexcusable for a course that was charging peope €4900. That's half a grand. That's a car. Insane.
07/03/2026: I was a full-time student at NCI from 2015–2020 and part-time in 2020–2021. I returned in September 2025 as a full-time online student. From my experience, full-time on-campus students receive significantly better support and access to resources. NCI organises events, departmental speakers, and other opportunities primarily for on-campus full time students, leaving online and on-campus part time students at a disadvantage. I emailed Academic Operations on 10 February 2026 to request an extension due to a bereavement. I had to follow up myself for updates. On 24 February I emailed again, and they replied on 26 February requesting documentation, which I provided the same day. As of 10 March, the issue remains unresolved. Throughout this process, communication was slow, and there was no acknowledgement or sensitivity regarding my bereavement, which was disappointing. Ideally, requests such as this should be processed promptly, with empathy and clear timelines. Another major concern is the change in assessment format. Semester 1 used TABAs, but Semester 2 had exams. Students were informed of this change only in January 2026, midway through the course, which is unfair and disruptive to planning. Communication from the college regarding such changes has also been insufficient. Overall, my experience highlights significant issues with student support, communication, and fairness, particularly for online students. Prospective students should carefully consider these factors before enrolling.

The Buttery

Dublin
22/08/2025: I really enjoyed my lunch here. There was a good choice of main courses. My chicken curry was tasty & the cabbage was great too. The Warbler & Wren coffee was delicious. If you bring your own mug of cofeee you get a 10% discount. It's very economical compared with many eateries in the vicinity, The dinning area is extensive and I enjoyed talking to some students eating lunch with me.
10/08/2025: It's advertised as open until 10:30am for breakfast. We went in at 09:55 and they had already stopped serving. We asked one of the staff, who was quite grumpy about telling us food was only served till 10. Went to Keoghs instead.

Stoned

Dublin
15/02/2026: I placed an order through Deliveroo from Stoned, 6 Parliament Street, during their buy-one-get-one-free promotion. My order included two Coca-Cola Zero, one Half & Half side, two chicken burgers, and four Double Cheese burgers. Unfortunately, I only received the side and the chicken burgers, several items were missing. Trying to resolve the issue was even more frustrating than the incomplete delivery. After calling for over five minutes, someone finally answered, only to shift the blame onto the delivery driver, claiming he had picked up two orders. This explanation made no sense, especially since the receipt clearly matched my order. I was told they would speak with the manager and call me back, but I never received any follow-up. After waiting 30 minutes, I called again and made more than 50 attempts, repeatedly being left waiting until the call disconnected. On one occasion, they answered and immediately hung up. An extremely disappointing experience. Mistakes can happen, but the lack of accountability and the poor customer service were unacceptable. Ignoring customers instead of solving problems is a sure way to lose them. If this continues, perhaps one day there will be no customers left. Update following the restaurant’s public response: As you chose to publicly describe a customer’s reaction as “crazy,” that unfortunately speaks more about your professionalism than about my complaint. At no point during the phone call was it clearly explained that the order was in two separate bags. Instead, responsibility was immediately shifted to the delivery driver. The receipt was attached to the bag I received, which reasonably indicated that it represented the complete order. Beyond the missing items, even what arrived was incorrect. Calling multiple times was not about overreacting, it was about attempting to resolve an issue while the restaurant was still operating. When a customer places an order, the expectation is simple: to receive what was paid for, without needing to pursue explanations or refunds. This situation has nothing to do with age or “learning that life has bigger problems.” It is about accountability and basic standards of customer service. Mistakes are understandable. Dismissing legitimate concerns publicly is not. Ultimately, time will reveal whether requesting the correct order was “crazy,” or whether responding to customers with sarcasm and condescension is a sustainable approach for any business...
04/02/2026: Tasty stoner food on the cheap before untill 6pm, can't go wrong ordering food here, no customer toilets so had to buy a pint across the road to use the pub jax

Brown's Brasserie Dublin at Brown Thomas

Dublin
04/10/2025: Food quality is terrible. The kids goujons and chips are deep fried and very, very fried. The chips were a mixture of skinny chips and skin on chips? Felt like it was the ends. French toast was only ok, didn't come with maple syrup, just a drizzle on the plate, wasn't very filling at all for the price. I did like that the area was spacious where the round tables are (the other tables are cramped). Very few vegetarian/vegan menu options on the main menu (except plenty of starters which is odd?) and no vegetarian options on the kids menu. Highchair was filthy I had to clean it myself. Service was non-existant, we waited about 15 minutes to order and then had to go up to the counter to ask for the bill. Definitely won't be back, quite poor service and low quality food being the reason.
20/09/2025: Had a killer desert here. The best.

Tommy O'Gara's

Dublin
09/02/2026: A really nice pub ar the heart of Stoneybatter. Nice crew, good beer and it has a cozy beer garden.
02/02/2026: My friends and I went into this pub at 7 PM. We were absolutely sober (of course, it was 7 PM). Some of our friends stayed outside to finish smoking their cigarettes. One of the bartenders (a man in his 50s with glasses and a gray stubble) blocked our way and started being rude from the moment we walked in. He then asked why someone was waiting outside. We replied that our friends would finish their cigarettes and then join us. The bartender continued to be rude and swear and said he wouldn't serve us: "You people." We didn't understand what he meant, but one of us had mobility issues. This is actually a violation of Irish consumer protection laws. But we didn't bother to confront this boor and went into the next pub. I highly recommend not going here.

Wongs

Dublin
15/02/2026: I don’t know what to say other than disappointing. The prices are crazy for what you get given the quality is no better than a typical Chinese takeaway. The spring rolls were strange to say the least. Wasn’t able to tell how fresh the veg in them were. The garlic and black bean fillet beef was nice but no way was it fillet beef. The chilli beef was good too but very deep fried to the point you couldn’t taste beef and just deep fried batter. The worst thing we got at our table was the salt and chilli chicken, it was absolutely disgusting. And for nearly 30 euro - it was daylight robbery. The chicken itself didn’t look like chicken and it was drowning in oil. For the same price, I could have dined at a top restaurant in the city centre. Overall, really disappointing.
14/02/2026: The food did not live up to our expectations. Vegetable spring rolls were very dry and the dipping sauce was extremely salty and did not complement the dish. Main course of fillet beef with black bean and garlic was nice however the beef did not taste like fillet. Main course of shredded chicken was inedible. Noodles were in a puddle of oil. The pieces of chicken didn’t resemble chicken at all. We asked the waiter was it definitely chicken and even she had to cut a piece herself to confirm, will not be back unfortunately.

Frank Ryan's

Dublin
31/12/2025: Bleeding whopper deadly this place is. Thanks to Gabriel also whos always been a sound skin.
24/12/2025: I'm not usually one to leave bad reviews but the man in charge seems to actively want it, so I'm happy to help out! I live locally and have been in here a fair bit over the years. Stopped in for one on the way home one night with the missus. Pub mostly empty, about 20 minutes until close. I get one for myself and sit down, barman promptly comes over and says she'll also have to get a drink. We were confused at first, so she asks for tap water. He says well I can charge you €3.50 for it, or else you can leave. You wouldn't get this treatment in the worst kind of tourist trap in Temple Bar. Just to be clear it's Tadgh Coughlan who runs the pub and is behind this nonsense, not Frank Ryan as I've seen some others blame. Ryan has had nothing to do with it in decades, seems Coughlan is determined to run his name through the muck!

Bianconi's

Dublin
17/05/2025: As someone new to town, I had this place recommended to me. I arrived late tonight, just 30 minutes before they closed. An older lady kindly explained their chef had already left. However, she was incredibly helpful and still managed to serve me. She offered me lasagna, and it tasted great! I ate quickly so they wouldn't have to stay open late for me, but she never rushed me and even kindly warned me it was very hot. At the register, she even gave me an Italian bread to take home and try. I'm so grateful for her kindness. It meant a lot to me and really made a difference.
05/05/2025: The pizzas aren't amazing, but they're good. They can be a great snack option.

Bakelicious

Dublin
17/11/2025: These guys made a lovely birthday cake for my wife's 60th with her twin sister. They went to a lot of trouble to get the details right and at a very reasonable cost.
29/10/2025: Nice bakery for a quick stop. There is no seating available, but there is plenty of parking space out front, so you can eat or drink in your car or on the go. Staff was quick to assist. The chai latte I had was good, but not great. The croissant was huge, that made up for the price I paid for it. Special milks add 80ct to the price.

Pizza Max Kimmage

Dublin
30/06/2025: Pizza Hawaiian - ordered today 21:50. Came very quick, hot and fresh food but - no sauce so I don’t know if there is no sauce at all or they forgot to add and the base seems like without tomato sauce, pizza hot and fresh but very dry from the other side, the tomato sauce if was added seems like it vapour.
01/05/2025: I ordered through Uber Eats and tried their bestseller meal. Honestly, it was only worth about one-sixth of what I paid for it
