29/11/2024: Had a lovely evening recently in this pub. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance between lively and cozy.A standout of my visit, however, was Aoife behind the bar. Her professionalism and attentiveness were second to none. Despite a busy night, she handled every order with efficiency and was genuinely friendly with a lovely smile that made everyone feel so welcome!

17/11/2024: My partner and I had a wonderful evening here before going to the Stella cinema across the road. It was cosy and warm and the Guinness was delicious.

01/01/2025: Serious pint, we were lucky to get a seat and weren’t gonna stay long but ended up staying several hours. I’ll be back again for the toastie.

13/12/2024: Extremely Disappointing Experience – Never Coming Back I recently visited this restaurant with my partner and child, hoping to recreate the lovely experience we had a few months ago. Unfortunately, this visit turned out to be a complete disaster. We booked a "supper club" meal for two through their website and paid €59. The booking system was confusing, but we expected two plates of food or at least portions for two people. Instead, we received ONE plate with barely any meat—just one of each meat dish and double portions of the vegetarian items. This was completely different from our previous visit, where two plates were served with generous portions of meat and other dishes. The "supper club" seems like a scam. When we asked for the refill included in the meal, they brought us three tiny plates of vegetarian food: cabbage, beetroot, and kale. We had clearly asked for a full refill of all dishes, but the waitress rudely claimed they “thought” we wanted only those items. This level of miscommunication and lack of care was frustrating. The service was atrocious from start to finish. The waitress was dismissive, rude, and lacked basic professionalism. She didn’t smile, didn’t make us feel welcome, and spoke in a curt manner throughout. When she asked if we wanted a drink for our child, we agreed to a lemonade, but she didn’t tell us it wasn’t included in the meal price. Then, as we were leaving, she loudly yelled “Hey!” across the restaurant and asked another staff member in front of everyone whether we had paid for the drink. This was embarrassing and completely uncalled for. The contrast to our first visit was shocking. Back then, the staff were friendly and went out of their way to explain the dishes and suggest options that weren’t too spicy for our child. This time, the atmosphere was cold, unwelcoming, and downright unpleasant. I deeply regret spending €59 on this experience, plus an extra €3 for the drink that wasn’t even worth it. The poor service, misleading portions, and overall disrespectful treatment left a bitter taste. I will never return, and I would strongly caution others to think twice before dining here.

23/12/2024: Absolutely phenomenal customer service by James at the front desk. We were checked in completely as Gaeilge (in the Irish language) which was such a pleasure and an added treat to our stay. Overall a lovely experience and we will definitely be back. Míle buíochas.

18/10/2024: We went in the bar randomly and it was a very good decision. Small location, but great in service. Service was great, friendly and welcomed. The food was excellent. Fish and chips and the Guinness stew was very tasty. We really enjoyed our visit. And for our next time in Dublin, we will comeback.

20/12/2024: Cosy, beautiful interior, nice music, excellent service antré and desert a dream. Had scallops with black pudding as starter and the apple tart with salted caramel and ice cream. It was delicious. The cod though was overcooked and the side too. But you shouldn’t probably eat fish in a steak house. Will be back again soon to try the steak. Overall loved it.

08/12/2024: Not alot of pubs like this one left anymore this a very warm friendly pub great lighting the walls are covered in some meny quirky thing's to look at I have been here a few time's now and always find something new and interesting it's a family run pub there history is all out in the pub for everyone to see and I like that alot make feel part of the family even if your not they have very big interesting beer garden very nice in the summer but very cold in the winter yes it not heated. The music is just a juke box so you never what's next on less you put a few coins in. the food is in the beer garden the is good streets is the still people love it is recommend to try price on food and drink is very good I most say open's at 5pm Whenday to Sunday cash only Bar no cards or phone like it should be but there is a bank mashing in the pub. Well Worth a look I recommend this for everyone young & and a bit older to.

22/12/2024: I went to my friend's Birthday here. It's a spacious pub. It is a good big pub. We got finger food. It was nice. My friend said she wasn't happy about the service she got for her Party..They lost the balloons they wanted to keep for her Birthday.The other thing is it doesn't stay open late for long!

03/12/2024: I am not one for writing a review, however after my experience tonight with the manger on duty in San Sab Drumcondra I feel it’s necessary to give one, as the individual in question was one of the rudest individuals I have ever experienced in the service industry. Awful manner. In response to owner's reply, we have modified our review to show the both sides of the incident we have encountered on the 2nd of Dec: We have always appreciated San Sab Thai as a wonderful place to dine and have enjoyed many great experiences there. However, our recent visit was disappointing. When we requested to split the bill into two, a practice we’ve done without issue in the past, we were met with resistance and a lack of professionalism from the server. Despite our explanation, the server refused and responded with impatience and a tone that was far from the standard of good customer service. Unfortunately, this escalated when she began to lecture us on how we should have requested this beforehand, further exacerbating the situation. While we understand there may have been operational challenges, we were surprised by the lack of courtesy and the dismissive attitude shown. This caused frustration, leading to an exchange that we deeply regret where we had to use the "f" word. We couldn’t help but feel that the owner's reply lacked acknowledgment of any potential shortcomings on the restaurant’s part. Instead, the tone seemed to deflect responsibility and frame the restaurant as the victim in this situation. Upon reviewing responses to other negative reviews, it becomes evident that this approach is consistent. While we understand the challenges of managing customer feedback, such dismissive or defensive responses may come across as arrogant and unreflective, potentially alienating valued patrons. We hope this serves as constructive feedback to encourage a more empathetic and solution-oriented approach when addressing customer concerns. Acknowledging areas for improvement not only fosters trust but also reflects positively on the restaurant's dedication to its guest's experience.

07/12/2024: Ordered Sweet and sour chicken, ribs and 1/4 duck as take away last night to my hotel. It was horrific, my child asked me to taste the chicken as it tasted weird and it had a slimy texture, thank goodness it was only a tiny taste for her. Ribs we're extremely tough and fatty. Duck was just dry and felt like it was a few day old. Needless to say absolutely nothing got eaten except the boiled rice by kids. Picture is of left over food the next morning.
