Croga - The Tourist Trap
Dublin
17/11/2024: Small place to have good coffee, breakfast or even a light lunch ( they have crepes).
We stopped by after visiting the Temple bar and on our way to the Guinness storehouse.
Illustration: Chai latte for 4,5€

16/11/2024: We have gone to try the coffee with Bayleys. It's not bad but the 9.5 eur they charge seems exorbitant to me. Small and cozy place.

Castle Vaults
Dublin
06/01/2025: Room with enough space for two adults and a child, very basic, very small double bed, like bedding. Very small bathroom. In general the spaces are correct and the best is the kindness of all the staff and especially the Spanish-speaking people.
02/01/2025: The hotel is nicely located, no trouble going there by bus from the airport (5min walk from the bus station, only 1 bus for ~30min and 2€60), but it’s a little bit far from the main area (temple bar ~ 20min walking) which allows such piece at night.
Overall the room are very quiet, nicely decorated, we didn’t have the street view as asked, it’s very pretty, still spacious, the bathroom was perfect too.
We can’t hear from a room to another, except the doors, and our neighbors LOVED slamming their door at every hour which can be super annoying, the reception should inform their guest about that, the doors are heavy, hold on to them to avoid disturbing other residents.
Big thumb up to the cleaning service who did a great job every day, but on the bathroom wall, there’s a note saying that we can keep the towels on the rack to avoid changing them everyday and be more eco friendly. However our towels were always changed, is one side it’s really nice, it feels more luxury, but it would’ve love to have a more eco friendly service.
I really like this kind of hotel when it’s a little bit of a maze inside, very traditional, very charming.
There is 2 type of breakfast: Irish traditional and continental. We tried both, the vegan and traditional Irish one were great but as I’m allergic to a lot of things I preferred the continental one. The waitresses were very nice, amusing kids, quiet and thorough, speaking few languages. However, not so many choice regarding the food. Positive note on the very respected difference between gluten and gluten free bread (with the toaster) and they had non dairy milks.
We had dinners twice in their restaurant downstairs. The highlight of this restaurant is clearly the service, especially Emily and Trevor, never seen people being so professional and thorough especially with my allergies and they were very nice and accommodating, it was so appreciated.
The menu looked a little bit expensive but when we saw the portions we realized it wasn’t that expensive for the quantity we had. However the meat (for the ribs) was a little dry, and the meat for the stew was a little bit fat for me and way too salty. I personally didn’t like the fries but if you like chunky fries it’s perfect.
Thanks again for all the waiters and waitresses, you were really the best part of this experience, and thanks to the chef and the kitchen for double checking everything with my allergies.
Our biggest downside was the clear lack of communication between night shift and day shift. Before we arrived we asked what time they opened on the 27th of December et someone told us by email 11am. Unfortunately it was noon and we had to wait without any possibility of contacting them.
And again the day we left, we ordered a cab the day before and a special breakfast to go (for my allergies) and it was written down (she showed us) but at the departure, the receptionist handed us their classic breakfast and that I couldn’t have at all, and showed us the sheet he had which wasn’t the same as the one we saw last night. We had to ask again to have a special breakfast which took a lot of time to make and it was not good at all (ham sandwich but the ham was cut so big and the bread was super dry).
Overall it a good place to stay, except the arrival and departure that were a bit messy, the hotel is very confortable, the living room with the green sofas is quite extraordinary to sit a while and enjoy the mood.

Fire Steakhouse & Bar
Dublin
17/12/2024: I had this place on my radar for a long time because it has a very good location and I wanted to try the meat.
But the reality is that the service does not know how to recommend what to eat, and on top of that they change your table downstairs even though there are free places. Better to eat inside in the theater than on the upper floor overlooking the terrace.
A good atmosphere, but there are better places to spend for good meat in Dublin.
15/12/2024: Always get a good steak here. Service usually good too.

30/11/2024: Shisha was good, Karak chai was delicious, service was impeccable. One bad thing I can think of is the loud music and it wasn’t to my taste.

Urban Brewing
Dublin
13/11/2024: Cristina was soo gorgeous and helpful and we will be back and will recommend to all our friends Fab experience! Food was fab and service excellent
09/11/2024: I’m in Dublin for a week. The second night I find Urban Brewing and enjoy a delicious set of Pimentos Padron, craft beers, and an extensive whiskey selection. I end up going back several times to finish out each day with beer, tapas, and whiskey. By the way, try the chorizo al vino. Bartenders Ed and Alejandra were amazing to watch and chat with. My time here was one of the highlights of my visit to beautiful Dublin.

The 1884
Dublin
04/01/2025: Really nice spot. Haven’t been here in years. Great team behind the bar - couldn’t fault it, a really solid local pub.
28/12/2024: This is a drinkers bar . There’s a nice mix of regulars and fly by night customers.
The bar is named after the foundation of the GAA in 1884 .
There’s a massive beer garden with a huge big screen and loads of room.
Down to business
The pints of stout are expertly crafted with professional pride .
The whiskey selection is massive
The spots are all there and all of the Red Breasts
The Middleton is there along with a lot of lesser known whiskey.
The toilets are spotless and the staff are very helpful.
There’s a massive amount of GAA memorabilia on the walls .
