06/12/2024: Ordered a Doner kebab with chips, spicy wings and onion rings. The staff were extremely friendly. Unfortunately the food wasn’t nowhere near as good as the staff. The kebab was ok. I’ve had worse, but still the meat was rubbery and cheap and the sauce was flavourless. The chips and onion rings were just cheap and generic and a bit oily. The chicken wings were the shocker. Who ever cooked them cooked them in The same oil they cook the fish in. No spice off them just a taste and smell of fish. Also some of the worst quality wings I’ve had. I won’t be returning which is unfortunate as I ate here a few times when it first opened and I remember it being a lot nicer.

24/11/2024: Worst experience my family has had with a restaurant while traveling. My father came to visit me in Cork, and stayed at the hotel Montenotte . Now mind you, my dad’s a bit American looking - bald straight man with a beard, but still was wearing a nice polo and jeans, etc. Perfectly kind and respectable. Essentially the restaurant staff treated him horribly even though he had a reservation AND was a guest at the hotel, didn’t even look up the reservation, just kind of brushed him off and ignored him. We ended up waiting 30 minutes, asked a few more times politely, and the only reason why we were seated was my mother got pissed off and essentially confronted them for their behavior saying they are guests at the hotel and they are treating my father with significant disrespect. Now my dad is not very flashy, it’s not his thing - again still had a nice polo - but my dads a Doctor in the US, a Director at a hospital - and shouldn’t be treated like trash for the amount of lives he’s saved (and you know, also as a human being, shouldn’t be treated this way - we were perfectly respectable guests). We essentially had to pull the “he’s a doctor” card for them to treat us with any modicum of respect. Which they did switch up very quickly after that and gave us “5 Star Service.” We have never had to do that before and it was embarrassing… On top of that, I’ve been here before with my partner and his friends separately. Was also treated fairly badly, one individual even lied and said that today was “only for guests” and I should not come next time. Which I found out from another waiter there was a lie. Now I DO dress very nicely, as I am a gay man and like to look presentable. Same with the peers I was joined with. Not sure why that happened but I could suspect… Overall, horrible restaurant and service, they take themselves too seriously and the ego running wild in this place needs to be taken down a notch. Food is good, for Cork - but not great compared to any other top level restaurants I’ve been to. And let me tell you we have been to far nicer, classier, Michelin Star- level restaurants, some being the top in the world, and have never received such egotism. Like seriously, I am shocked with this place. I live in Cork, and I’ve heard of individuals who work at the hotel essentially talk down and complain about the amount of Americans staying at the hotel. So overall, if you’re American - they probably won’t like you. I mean mind you, I also don’t like being a US citizen, the place is horrible half the time, especially now that trump is reelected. But still, not everyone is a Trump loving, annoying conservative that wants to ruin the world - get it together. I will be posting this both on the restaurant reviews and for the hotel.

15/11/2024: Yo y mi mejor amiga de más de 40 años tomamos el té de la tarde para celebrar nuestros cumpleaños. Tuvimos una gran experiencia de principio a fin. Nuestro camarero Gabriel era tan atento y amable, nada era demasiado problema. La comida era de primera categoría y un montón de ella. Hemos estado en muchos lugares para el té de la tarde y la montenotte era de lejos el mejor. sin duda volveremos. mantener el gran trabajo y muchas gracias.
