08/02/2026: Popped in for a drink and sandwich after hearing great reviews , we were refused service stating we “were after too many” absolutely sober On a Sunday afternoon with shopping bags, all because a man ordered a gin & tonic and not a pint because apparently a sober man never orders a gin as stated by the bar man. Horrified by the way we were treated in our own city. Won’t be returning.

06/04/2026: We’ve been at Glass Curtain twice now, including a Valentine’s dinner, and it has been excellent both times. Food is outstanding—every dish feels well thought out and full of flavour. The wine pairing was spot on, and overall the experience felt really special from start to finish. On our Valentine’s visit, we were even surprised with an extra course for Pancake Day, which was a lovely touch. Service is top notch—attentive, professional, and consistent. The atmosphere is relaxed and perfect for a special occasion. Definitely a place we’ll keep coming back to.

20/03/2026: We really liked this spot. Went with our 3 small kids, no hassle with getting a table although space was limited with a buggy. Food was lovely, service slow after we finished main course, so we ended up skipping dessert. Overall nice night.

24/03/2026: A HEARTY breakfast joint, you won't leave with any room left in your tummy. We had the Brekkie Bap and Divorced Eggs and recommend both, though the Divorced Eggs took the cake for most original and delicious. A bright and lively spot for breakfast or lunch, we'd happily return.

25/02/2026: Been away for a few months. Popped into the elm tree for Sunday lunch. Just as good as all ways, still good value, food still great except the roast potatoes, just too crispy.

08/03/2026: It's been too long to be reminded how outstanding this restaurant is. Fine dining without the BS. I try hard to not be the guy who photographs the food, but how could I not show off the attached creations. They are works of art. 👏👏👏 to the unseen (but hugely appreciated)kitchen staff. A nice friendly welcome by maitre d'. Extremely comfortable tables and a spectacular menu including a "proper" vegan menu. Staff are very nice, apart from one cold member - they've been there a while and is a tad serious, a bit intimidating. If they lightened up, everyone would feel better. Such a fantastic treat.

20/03/2026: My daughter Ava played music there with her friend a number of times. She is a very professional accomplished musician. She got great feedback from the customers who enjoyed the musc. The Kingsley used her and never laid her or her friend for the music performance 's. This behaviour cannot and should not be tolerated by this establishment. This is iny opinion is exploitation. These girls are now dissalussioned. This behaviour is totally unacceptable. John Hallinan Ava's Dad.

11/03/2026: Fabulous hotel! The outdoor heated pool overlooking the River Lee was a highlight—so relaxing with a beautiful view. Highly recommended! ✨

03/04/2026: Perfect dinner experience, as always. Noticed some new menu tweaks made to continue offering gorgeous food and drinks at affordable prices, versus pushing prices on to the customer. Genuine neighbourhood cafe touch!

30/03/2026: We've not been back to the Castle for a while but it was always a family favourite. Delighted to return this weekend to the same friendly faces, great service and excellent food, fab vegan options too. Thanks Jerry as always

07/04/2026: Overall I was very impressed with the quality of service at Fota Island. The staff were super attentive and friendly. The breakfast was probably the best quality hotel breakfast I’ve had. The food was lovely and there were plenty of options for all diets and preferences. The hotel facilities were well equipped for not only just families but also couples and those looking to relax and unwind as well. If you’re wanting a relaxing place to stay in the south of Ireland then look no further!

18/01/2026: Great place to have large and smaller gatherings. Very welcoming staff and lovely food. Parking very handy. Pity there is no wheelchair accessible toilet..

22/02/2026: Very disappointed overall.Took my son for a special occasion.Very loud on arrival from people at bar counter asked to move but staff member said the group were leaving ( which they did ) .We ordered 2 starters both small ,tasty enough. .However it was the 2 main courses that were so disappointing I ordered the hake ,brocolini and mash and my son ordered the featherblade of beef ,both portions were small ,the broccoli was 2 pieces of tenderstem.My sons beef was small he was starving after it. .With one non alcoholic wine meal came to 92 euro ..I dont mind paying for something if Its filling and good value but we both left hungry .My son went home for a bowl of cereal.Overall very disappointing experience.Wish I had seen previous persons review ( Sarah ) bfore I booked.We had similar experiences.

15/02/2026: Overall a very mid experience for a fine dining restaurant, when paying such high price for the food you'd expect just a bit more than one mushroom and one broccoli, the chips were not even crispy and more soggy unfortunately, seasoned well beef however too much blood on the beef, , plating was just so basic, the vibe was an interesting experience just way too dark
