The best restaurants in Killarney

23/09/2024: Our group of eight stopped in on a Monday evening and was able to find a table in the back of the pub. My wife and I were not extremely hungry so we decided to split a meal. We chose the beef nachos with jalapeños, guacamole, and cheddar cheese. This is the first time we have ordered nachos in Ireland, so we don’t know if the tortilla chips normally come dusted with seasoning. We are used to having plain tortilla chips, so the extra seasoning was pretty unusual.

21/09/2024: A decent stop for dinner and a drink. Staff were great. Food was okay. Serves were big and came out quickly but was just okay. Didn’t blow me away, standard quickly cooked and quickly served food. It’s still a great place to consider for a meal, again, probably down to the staff. If you do decide to go to Laurels, try for a table in front room, rather than the restaurant at the back.

12/10/2024: Ordered food and said it would be ready in 20mins. Took 50 mins. Food was ok. Chicken was decent and ribs were good. Chow mein was ok. Not much complaints on that end but timing was way off. Just would like more realistic time frames for collection so I’m not waiting around

16/09/2024: Based upon the reviews, we had high expectations of great service and food. Unfortunately, this was not the case. We had made reservations and were seated right away and immediately gave our drink and appetizer order. Water was provided also at that time. We ordered the Atlantic Prawn for a starter. What we got were 6 very small shrimp floating in oil and a piece of bread. I was hesitant to order prawns again from another restaurant but their prawns were in fact plump and very delicious. So, I know it was not the norm. My husband had the sole which had little flavor and I had the sea bass. The sea bass came in the form of two very small fillets with little fleshy meat. The food in itself was disappointing, but the service was even worse. After our order arrived, we had no other contact with our waiter. We finally flagged down another waiter and asked for more water that never arrived until we received the bill. For our second night in Ireland, it was very disappointing. Especially as we had wonderful fish and chips from a local pub the night before. Not worth our time and money, unfortunately.

29/09/2024: So Bad ! I’ve been ordering fish and chips and requesting to get Tartar Sauce and Salt , I’ve ordered like 7 times and every time they forgot to put the Sauce and the Salt. They put a fork inside the bag , but only when they remember , or whenever they want , didn’t put any napkin. Is the worst service I’ve ever have in my life and I ordered from many places but never like this place ! Won’t order again from u , I wish never know about u. You lost a good customer because u didn’t put sauce so , bye bye see u never again

07/09/2024: The pizza was really good. We ordered The family meal and it was yummy. The chips were really and value for money.. only downside is the cleanliness, they can make the place a bit more clean..

27/10/2024: Parking is not really clear for directions. Made me go through the drive through and wait ~10 minutes to get out.

08/10/2024: Can't complain really. Got my food very quickly and up to the usual standards of McDs. We've sat inside and had drive thru and both times were flawless.

15/10/2024: Nicely laid out with booths allowing privacy for lone diners. Generous pots of tea and nice pastries on offer. However, very limited for vegetarians. I ordered the vegetarian breakfast and the options were limited. Vegan sausages and nothing short of a crime against humanity. Cheap, nutritious alternatives could include: hashbrowns, spinach, halloumi etc. Still, service is brisk and pleasant, and the place is comfortable and generally bustling with people.

27/06/2024: The guy on the touch screen gave 15-20 options for two sandwiches, a tea and a coffee. Two entry level sandwiches and a pot of tea for two, "25.50 please'. When we queried the price, an observing female server sidled to the register and barked "That's the price!!!!". A dreadfully dismal experience, and at peak service time, 3 occupied tables in the place told their own story. Avoid.

10/09/2024: Great service. Great drinks. Was able to watch a college football game on their big screen in the early evening. Came back later and it was a jumping dance spot. Cool.

02/11/2024: Horrible experience. Ordered pizza for me and my 5 year old with 3 toppings through Just Eat app and got a plain cheese pizza even though it said 3 toppings on the box. When I rang 4 star, a very aggressive member of staff, who, "made that pizza himself" told me the problem was with Just Eat and to order from the 4 star website in future before hanging up on me. Never again.

22/10/2024: Stay clear absolutely a joke ordered £53 worth of food pre ordered for delivery it came with the food spilled all over the bag a a tub of curry spilled all over it no drinks was offered not a refund but a 20 euro voucher for a order worth double will never again order from here I have been ordering from this place with 20 years they have just lost a long time customer

27/10/2024: Honestly, food that tastes good sober, and after a few beers. It reminds me of KC's in Cork, only better. Incredible Mexian Fries and Southern Fried Louisiana Burger

30/07/2024: One of the best chippers in Ireland It was closed on my last few visits but appears to be back open again. Spice box is amazing!

20/09/2024: Dined ala carte at the Lakeside bistro— Enjoyable outdoor dinner with an excellent view for my first night in Killarney. We had the poached pear and blue cheese salad, crab cake and smoked salmon, three cheese pizza and sea bass with couscous. Sea bass was probably the best dish but everything was more than satisfactory. Food arrived promptly and portions were pretty generous. Was difficult to get server’s attention at times but this improved through the evening and servers were very friendly. Was actually looking to get the set dinner at the Castlelough Restaurant (pictures look great) but entered the Lakeside Bistro, was too hungry to clarify, and had a great meal nonetheless!

31/08/2024: We got a table in the adjacent bar and ate dinner. We had a very friendly and courteous waitress, the food was excellent as was of course the beer. After eating while on the brink of getting another beer, a waiter who has not been serving us before, appeared rushing by slapping the bill on our table with the words “when ever you are ready!” And disappeared again. What happened? Did I offend anyone? Did I forget to shower? What about “good evening sir, would you care for another drink?” Or “ may I bring the bill if you are finished?”. Nope… guess that would have been too much… I was truly gobsmacked and boy was I ready… ready to spend his tip on another beer elsewhere. Shame, sometimes it takes a single cocky Youngblood to abruptly bring a nice evening to an end. By the way, at least five other tables were empty so we were not “blocking” anyone…

26/08/2024: Asked the worker on the phone is there any place to sit down inside I got hung up on not happy with customer service especially with myself being on holidays

21/08/2024: My partner and I were visiting Killarney this summer and thought we'd order a quick pizza in the evening. We called and ordered two twelve inch pizzas, which cost €30. We gave our hotel address, room number and mobile number. What could be simpler? Unfortunately, this transaction was beyond your Killarney branch. We waited for well over an hour for two pizzas on a Tuesday night. We were even told that old classic that the driver was , "Just around the corner." While waiting, I called Killarney Domino's, and I told the manager that we were still waiting and that the driver wasn't "Around the corner, " to which he nonchalantly replied,"My apologies?" The punchline of this whole debacle is that when the poor driver did arrive, with stone cold pizzas, he told us he had been sent to the wrong hotel ! Fantastic. In short, I spent €30 on two cold, subpar pizzas and served a helping of woeful customer service on the side. I know this will probably go nowhere but, If I can prevent one person from being as annoyed as were we yesterday, that'll do.

22/10/2024: I had burger, it was good, but waited a bit even though it was not busy..

10/09/2024: Asked for no onions, lettuce, and no seeded bun due to teeth issues, in person. Somehow they heard "so many onions you cant see the meat" and they didnt put lettuce in, and gave a seeded bun. How can they forget the second they hear it? Burger was also dry, disgusting. Chicken was way overdone and bland and chewy. Will absolutely not be going back. Pity, because most supermacs ive been to have been lovely.
