The Black Sheep Hostel & Coffee Shack

27/07/2025: I hadn't tried hostels before this and another in Galway the day before. This is an elite experience that I will never miss on my travels. Privacy curtains on the beds, room to stash your luggage and free breakfast in the morning make this one of the best hostels in all of Ireland EASILY.
23/06/2025: This was my favorite hostel I stayed in while living in Ireland for 3 months. It was a great location within walking distance to restaurants and shops in town and a short distance from Killarney National Park. That being said it is not close to a bus or train station, so keep that in mind if backpacking. The beds were the most comfortable I've found in a hostel, each with their own privacy curtain. Lots of storage space for your luggage, lovely people both working and staying there. Felt super safe! Use of the kitchen was encouraged, a sweet little working garden in the back, cute pup, bike rentals available as needed, and a cozy front living room with a fireplace, games, and instruments. Was super homey and special. They even offer laundry services for you if you need them! Great spot, would definitely stay here again if I come back to Killarney!

17/05/2025: Amazingly friendly and efficient service, the food was absolutely amazing. Couldn't fault a thing. Very fairly priced as well. With so many options in Killarney on a Saturday morning I'm delighted I chose here. Will definitely be back on my next visit.

17/06/2025: Won an award for the 3rd best Guinness in Ireland, and it didn't disappoint! A great 'boozer' in Killarney with lots of locals and a great atmosphere.
22/05/2025: Lovely local non-touristy tiny pub & great great Guinness.
All the local lads were playing darts.
Only 1 local well known man to the locals odd bald man ogling the ladies who came in. A tad uncomfortable but otherwise great.
They show The Chase game show on a big screen.

02/07/2025: Don't waste your money. We order 4 fish pieces and chips and a poutine. All the fires were undercooked. The poutine had like 10 cheese curds, and the gravy was just on the bottom. The fish look like they sliced it in half !! For the price you would expect to get much better food. Also there was only one staff member that didn't have a sour face, it was a young teenager girl. The older man and two women had sour faces and looking at us the whole time we were eating . Save your money and time

06/06/2025: Went here with my family. Everyone enjoyed their meal. From the oysters, prawns, and calamari starters to the sea bass, monk fish, crab claws, and fish and chips. The sticky toffee pudding for dessert didn’t hurt, either. Service was friendly and attentive.

01/07/2025: Came in with my mom and son, I wasn’t sure based on previous reviews about this place but I can say with my head held high that place was clean and looked inviting . experience 10/10, staff was lovely and made us feel welcomed. Food was delicious. Overall we were very happy with our experience and will definitely come back.

15/07/2025: Went here last month, and it was just WOW. I love my coffee. I tried about five other cafes in Killarney Ireland and none of them competed with the price, the staff, okay hold up on the staff because they were AMAZING. I am quite a socially awkward person, but I really felt comfortable and welcomed by genuine souls. ❤️ and lastly the coffee and quick bites.
Mhmm. Yummy, I can remember the soft, delicate flaky croissant and my rich and high quality tasting matcha latte. A bathroom is included and its peaceful. Got to catch up with my friends over the phone, just stay quiet since everyone there is respectful and not loud even though it was quite busy the three days I went on my trip! Price range: €1-10.
Would go again.
24/06/2025: The custard cake they make is honestly one of the tastiest slices I've ever had - service is great too. Small bit of a wiff coming from the toilet towards the closest seats, but thankfully there were other seats

24/07/2025: Small basic bathroom for what you pay was the only downside. Food was lovely, friendly staff clean hotel but unfortunately bathtub in the bathroom (for the price you'd think a walkin shower) and a very small shelf to store your toiletries.

05/07/2025: We stopped in yesterday evening for food. The food was awful now we only got nachos and loaded fries which shouldn't be hard to get wrong but they were awful. We won't be going back. Staff were nice
05/07/2025: Fast service but had to sit in the bar area for breakfast with music pumping out. Food nice but scrambled eggs are made using powdered eggs so go for poached or fried.
