The best restaurants in Louth

15/03/2026: Great service and even better food! The service was good even though the restaurant was packed for Mothers Day. The set menu had a great selection of choices. €45 3 course per person. They have an extensive drinks menu. The kids options and sizes were perfect. The steak was delicious and cooked to perfection.

15/03/2026: Went for dinner for Mother's day we were in the Marquee which was freezing it's definitely not a nice place to have a meal. When the starters came out my soup was freezing had to be sent back even then was still just warm when it was returned then the mains arrived all the steaks were freezing cold and the onion rings we had to wait 30 minutes for our desserts which we asked twice for definitely won't be returning probably the worst place I have ever been i understand was Mother's day and busy but no excuse for all this

07/12/2025: We ate here on Thursday evening;Colette had booked it as a birthday surprise. The food was amazing and staff were very friendly and accommodating. The chef,apologies,didn’t get his name,came out for a chat. Definitely be back.Something for everyone-the specials board was massive! Thank you for a memorable evening.

21/03/2026: Easily the best breakfast in Louth if not Ireland. Staff always a pleasure to deal with, Jayne especially, always full of craic and great with our 4 year old son. Food is delicious and as for portion size, I’ll let the picture speak for itself. 10/10

16/03/2026: Had dinner on Mother’s Day so the restaurant was packed and we were a large family group. The food was good but the service was excellent - friendly, fast and attentive.

02/04/2026: Have been before and it was fine. Had issues but also had praise. However at last, recent wedding, I got a hair in my food so I wasn't the happiest. I didn't complain as I understood it was big wedding n busy but so, not the best experience this time... But i mean others could have eaten n wouldn't even have known!

02/04/2026: I stayed at Fairways Hotel Dundalk for three nights. Overall, the experience was quite positive — the rooms were comfortable, and the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful throughout my stay. However, I was quite disappointed with the restaurant service. One of the staff members, provided consistently poor service — he appeared unfriendly, inattentive, and at times even rude. This significantly affected the dining experience. I hope the hotel can address this, as otherwise it’s a great place to stay.

08/04/2026: It was one of those proper stormy November nights in Drogheda. Wind howling, rain coming at you sideways — the kind that soaks you no matter how you try to dodge it. My commuter train from Dublin was late (of course), and I was standing there at the station getting absolutely drenched, dreaming of somewhere warm, dry… and a decent pint of Guinness. The Railway Tavern was on my way, and at around 23:20 — dangerously close to last orders — it felt less like a choice and more like survival instinct. I walked in, leaving a respectable wet trail behind me on what looked like a freshly mopped floor (sorry about that). Jenny was behind the bar. I asked for a pint of Guinness. She took one look at me — water still dripping off — and said, “A quick pint.” Fair enough. I said no problem, finished it in about two heroic sips, and went straight back up for another — slightly less life-or-death this time. Since that night, I’ve been a regular. It’s a lovely pub: great service, great atmosphere, live music, and most importantly — great people. And on a night like that, it felt less like a pub and more like a rescue operation.

08/04/2026: Lovely cosy little pub. Dog friendly with open fire in the winter. Good pint of Guinness too.
