House of plates
Castlebar legal
29/05/2025: A fabulous range of dishes to choose from championing local produce. Scallops and Ham Hock Tart starters were beautifully presented and excellent. Duck and Featherblade of Beef both outstanding. Vegetables served with the main courses also excellent and cooked perfectly. Sadly, due to the generous portions we couldn't manage dessert. Next time we'll make room. All this, was accompanied by great service. By far the best place we ate in while in Mayo.
27/04/2025: Enjoyed a wonderful meal at the House Of Plates last evening. Very relaxing atmosphere, wonderful staff, and amazing food.😀

Etto
Dublin
16/06/2025: Intimate restaurant with great food!
14/06/2025: Food good.
The prices are outrageous, €205 for 2 mains and 2 starters with normal drinks and 1 bottle of wine
It's more like a coffee shop in terms ambiance.
I'd heard a lot about Etto and it might be trading on its past.
I'll never go back.

Woodruff
Dublin
08/06/2025: My mother and I, 2 fussy west cork women when it comes to fish, ate here last month to mark a very profound date. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived. Food choice was really strong, and we found it hard to decide from their seasonal menu which celebrated excellent ingredients for top Irish producers. The Fish main was cooked to perfection, delicately treated as it should be and the flavours were immense. We shared a delicious dessert - main part being a freshly made donut! No photos as we dove straight in. We were driving and the non alcoholic wine choices were very pleasant. All in all a very memorable meal, with zero pretentiousness, Dad would have loved it.
07/06/2025: We had dinner for two last night and it's hard to report without gushing.
We skipped starters, instead opting to share snacks. The house sourdough was chewy and flavourful and delicious enough we asked for the remains aa a doggy bag.
Hake croquettes with kimchi were complex and delicious, without feeling overloaded with cheesy bechamel.
Carlingford oysters were fresh and the little burst of heat from fermented chilli was just right.
Organic crisps with anchovy, nduja and teriyaki sounded weird but tasted simply right.
I had the sole on the bone with clams, chard, runner beans and tiny cubed fried potatoes. The fish was delicate, buttery without greasiness and the seasoning was spot on. I scoffed the lot.
She had the pork chop and the taste I got with a caramelised onion puree was intense and savoury and about as far as possible from the sad, dry tastelessness that the words "pork chop" on a menu often herald.
We drank a Didion Aligote from Burgundy. Lip smacking, mineral fresh and perfect.
Service was just rightfor the location - the guys knew their stuff but weren't pretentious, were friendly and humorous without being overbearing.
Without wine, the best value hundred quid I've spent this year.
Already thinking about when we can go again.

Greedy Goose
Malahide
11/05/2025: Our Uber driver recommended this place. He described it as an Irish tapas bar, which was a pretty good description. We had small plates that were French/Japanese. flavorful sauces, and a beautifully displayed. It was probably the best restaurant and food. I’ve been to in five years. Totally unexpected but fabulous. I had mussels, scallops, salmon, and steak, lamb, and shrimp.
08/05/2025: A gem of a restaurant with truly delicious food, with the menu changing all the time, but never disappoints! Make sure you go when you are hungry! Simon and his kitchen crew produce amazing food which will bring you back again and again. Super location too in Malahide village with a fabulous view.
Lastly, but by no means least....Magda and Annetta are quite simply amazing! Nothing is ever a problem for them and they always ensure the smooth running of the restaurant. (There are often quite large parties there). I could not praise them highly enough! Well done Magda, Annetta and all your team for making the Greedy Goose a real gem!

14/06/2025: Had food and drinks, everything was amazing. Great food and ambience.
08/06/2025: Highly recommended. The fries are very crispy and the food is generally good. It's always busy, so you might have to wait for a table.
Nice service.

Johnnie Fox's
Glencullen
18/05/2025: The reputation of this place is justified. You can feel the Irish atmosphere, the service is very efficient - the employees easily change roles, we were served by four people in total. And of course the Fox Pie with seafood was delicious.
18/05/2025: Amazing atmosphere of this pub, music, delicious food. Every time I visit Ireland I have to be in this place

Igo Inn
Dublin
11/06/2025: It's a very nice place during the week, but it's very crowded on weekends. It's a very comfortable place with a good atmosphere. But what I most recommend eating there is the lazangña.
16/05/2025: Always been a good pub. Friendly staff, who will bring drinks to your table if you like, and a nice atmosphere. It's a large place, so plenty of room, and quiet corners if that's what you're after. Clean and tidy. Good Guinness, well poured, and a decent looking menu. Just a 10 minute walk from Killiney beach if you need refreshment after a walk. Obviously I'll be going here again when I'm back in the area. Do I go in? Of course Igo Inn!

Chez Hans
Cashel legal
07/06/2025: Excellent cuisine, beautifully presented and in sufficient quantity.
The setting is very pleasant, and the only downside was the bill, which was over €60 in error. This was corrected and refunded with numerous apologies but without any offer of compensation for the inconvenience. A shame. A simple complimentary tea or coffee would have been nice.
22/05/2025: Beautiful setting to eat an exceptional seasonal menu. Quality ingredients / quality service and a relaxed formal dining experience make this gem a firm favourite of mine.

Foodworks
Kilkenny
01/06/2025: Outstanding local produce - orange egg yolks, the thickest rashers outside of a gammon steak, plump sausages all cooked to perfection. Best black pudding and bacon I've ever had. The tea, coffee, bread, service, atmosphere etc were all excellent too, but the food was top quality and memorable.
01/06/2025: Best Irish breakfast I've had in years. Outstanding quality produce and cooked very well indeed. The coffee was nothing to sniff at either, nicely roasted and brewed.
