12/12/2025: Food was great. The only downsides were service that felt a bit rushed and terrible acoustics of the restaurant. It’s a small place and while it was not completely full when we were there, you were unable to talk without having to raise your voice. Some sound proofing would hep perhaps

04/01/2026: Dishes that are unique and different from the classics. The crab and cream cheese with their bread are excellent. The three-course pairing options at a reasonable price are appreciated. A decent wine list, though limited by the glass, is available. A view of the harbor completes a slower, more relaxed meal.

28/12/2025: I came on a whim. Entrance is nicely decorated - lovely foyer. Note that the restaurant is on the first floor so there is a flight of steps. I'm fine, skipped up like a hungry gazelle, but others may not be as spry. I was warmly greeted by staff, and got a seat straight away due to the early time. The place was half full at 4pm. Getting a seat without prebooking at a later time may not be so easy. The menu is nicely divided into Earth (that'll be your vegan/veggie selection) Land (meat and poultry) Sea (go on, have a guess...) and Heaven - the dessert section. I ordered a half bottle of Malbec, patatas bravas and the lamb shoulder. Wine is very nice. The lamb was served on a delicious bed of risotto. I enjoyed every morsel. Now, the portion is on the small side as it's a tapas meaning there's room for you to choose other dishes. Perfect for the cuisine curious! It all came to approximately fifty euro. This was a very reasonable price for a xmas treat for myself. 10/10 will be back with friends to sample more plates!

01/01/2026: My recent visit here was utterly spoiled by the place being freezing cold. The waitress said that the radiator nearest our table "doesn't work". She placed an electric fan heater on a chair beside our table. We appreciated her efforts but a radiator which "doesn't work" is a bit of a tall tale!

30/11/2025: We had our school Christmas staff night out on Friday night, superb service and atmosphere…..we’ll definitely be booking again!!

25/11/2025: We celebrated our engagement at the Monks Well recently and the service received from Geraldine was 10/10, the place looks phenomenal. Everyone kept saying how lovely the place is and there was so much food to go around! Adrian and Diane have done a fabulous job of the place!

30/10/2025: Went in here recently ordered a Guinness and a vodka and sprite from the blonde younglad behind the bar(who was busy chatting and took ages to acknowledge me) .My wife poured some of the sprite into the vodka and took a sip.She asked me to taste.No taste of vodka at all(she normally checks before pouring the mixer if we are in a bar for the first time)Guinness wasn't great so we left and made our way to Frawleys and had a great night.

27/10/2025: One of the best pub grub lunch’s we’ve had in a long time . Figured because we’re near the sea we’ll have to pick the sea food lunch , we weren’t disappointed . Food tasted amazing . Had the Thai style mussels and clams and prawn pot . Great size portions . Staff real friendly , kid friendly . They serve a good Guinness and a wicked good irish coffee . To bonus it off the background music was a Waterboys playlist 👌👌

27/10/2025: We stumbled on this restaurant after not being able to get into a different one. It was a great find! The food was incredible, the staff was amazing, and they were extremely kid-friendly! They provided us with a great experience on a busy evening, getting us in quickly even though we did not have a reservation.

10/12/2025: Service is really great and the atmosphere is lovely. They have it set up very nicely. Unfortunately the food we didn't find as nice. The wings were decent, burger was average, chips a little soggy and the salad was not very nice at all.

18/11/2025: We went there on Sunday 16/11/25 around 1pm me( living here for over 20 years)and my friends who came for visit from Slovakia for long weekend ( they picked the best dates for weather ,,lol,,),, we had no reservations at all just tried walk in ,,they had no problem to find a space ( even for they said table is booked for 2:30) we got Irish stew ,, Lamb shank and Guinness pie ( or something like that)and one of my friend said its his best food experience this year so far for him ( he had lamb shank but he did try other one from us ) he said he will always recommend to everyone who is visiting Ireland can't missed your restaurant.. he will always recommend it as the food was excellent as atmosphere and mainly your staff there ,, and big thank you to our waitress Krizstof ..

17/11/2025: The first time I ate here was about 18 years ago. I've been back several times over the years. This year, I found the food a little less good. The dishes are plentiful, but the food seems a bit less tasty. Still, it's still a place to go if you're looking for Irish tradition.

02/01/2026: This was one of the most satisfying brunches I’ve had in a long time. The quality of the ingredients was excellent, matched by real attention to detail, and the venue itself was relaxed, welcoming, and confident in what it offers. A must-visit if you’re in Dublin.

21/12/2025: The food was great, lovely big portions for a good price. Went to order dessert waited 20 minutes to order then another 30 minutes for it to come out. Then asked for the bill off one girl, she went off and over to another table and started chatting away to them, didn’t come back to us, I asked again for the check off one of the boys and he went off never came back, another 15 minutes later I got fed up and went up to the bar and asked the girl behind the bar and she looked more pissed off then I was and wasn’t very pleasant. Would be a very nice place if the service was a lot better. If we had walked out without paying then they’d come running.

02/01/2026: A good friend and local recommended here so we decided to treat ourselves on the last day of 2025. My husband and I shared the garlic prawn plate with homemade bread at €15 which whilst delicious was small in volume. I ordered the fish of the day (cod at €24) and my husband had the battered fish and chips with mushy peas and tartar sauce at €19.50. Fish was fresh and tasty. Our children had a choice of sausage and chips or battered fish and chips and ordered one of each at €10 each. The only thing I would change would be to add some vegetable to the kid's meal to make it more balanced, healthy and filling. For drinks, we had water for the table, glass of milk (€2), Miwadi (75 cent) and a glass of Horgelus at €9. Overall, very impressed with the quality here. Recommended if in Kilkenny.

06/12/2025: We had a small Irish breakfast and it was very good! Everything was hot and fresh! Staff was very accommodating! Would highly reccommend! Sorry I forgot to take pictures.

04/01/2026: One of the best restaurants in the region. I have been visiting occasionally for many years and the quality of food and service remains at a high standard. Less pretentious and better value than Cashel Palace.
