14/03/2025: Este era un pequeño pub genial. Nos encantó el ambiente relajado, con un montón de rincones acogedores para sentarse, y tenían una fantástica selección de cervezas. El personal estaba muy bien informado sobre lo que tenían y nos recomendó un par de stouts con sabor muy agradable. No comimos aquí, pero la comida se veía bastante bien. También es amigable para perros, que siempre obtiene puntos de bonificación de nosotros.

21/05/2025: I usually like to stop there and I was many times ,but this time I am giving the lowest possible review for food that was served to me fish chowder with literally two muscles inside and two tiny slices of bread .Please see yourself and let me know if anyone would pay 14 euro for this .Service is good ,the place is a nice and quiet location,but I suggest better caution with food since it's not important just visual ,Aldo portions are also small and tiny and there is no value in that meal at all . Disappointment today..Please see the attached photo of what I was served and what I got .I ordered fish chowder and one beer total cost of 21 euro and was left disappointed with the food completely .

17/05/2025: Food was very poor. Chicken burger was burnt, smash burger was so-so taste wise, and the fries were bland and limp (possibly cooked and left sitting for some time). Service was really slow and you had to make a decent effort to try and get a server to come over to the table. There was just a lack of care given by the staff. We had to ask for cutlery and sauces. Not the first time we've had bad service. I honestly don't know how the owners/management don't
read these reviews and see something needs to change. It's as if the staff are actively trying to avoid serving customers. Drinks, as always, take an absolute age to be served. Won't be back.

10/05/2025: So overpriced for average food and poor service!! Went there for lunch today after seeing their €7 takeaway toastie menu. We asked could we order to sit in instead and got charge €14 for a fatty ham and cheese toastie. 10% service charge for a party of 2, ended up being €42 for 2 toasties, one chips and one drink can of soft drink!! The 10% charge also says optional on menu but is automatically put on bill without asking. Terrible! Would not recommend.
04/05/2025: Breakfast was delicious, fresh ingredients, well-seasoned, and beautifully plated. I especially enjoyed the eggs benedict and the fresh salad on the side. Service was excellent: warm, attentive, and efficient without feeling rushed. The atmosphere was calm and cozy, perfect for a relaxing morning. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great breakfast or brunch spot!

23/05/2025: Place are order for 6 people. Each order came out at a different time with in 10 minutes. Order a burger no mayo came with mayo. Order wings spicy for a starter got bbq and the dinner order. Order a Caesar salad came with Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top did not order it like that ordered it without cheese. Chicken tenders had like a sugar sprinkle on them . Worst spot we've eaten in since we have beef in Dublin.
19/05/2025: Downstairs is very touristy with great live music but overpriced drinks. Upstairs has surprisingly good food. Worth a look

18/05/2025: Walked in and they had no idea where we were to be sitting for our reservation. They placed us outside even though we did not ask or book to sit outside however the reservation list told us we booked outside but this was not the case as there are no booking options for outside. We were placed at a table for 6 people and the waiter had no idea what was going on. We asked for a table inside from two other waiters and they barely had any english and they were telling us about en event upstairs which had no relevance to us. We were then told to go inside as to find a table for ourself. We were then greeted by our previous waiter who seated us at a table inside. Dinner was fine, then we asked for the bill and the waiter smiled at us and did not come back with a bill. We tried to order a cocktail and an orchard thieves. We ended up with a cocktail and a plate of chips after waiting for 10 mins after the cocktail arrived and even asking the waiter where was the orchard thieves.
While all of this was happening we noticed a pint that was sitting for at least 15 minutes was served to a table after adding more head.
The service here was terrible and I would never recommend this place to anyone and i would definitely never go back to the jar.
16/05/2025: Had my 40th birthday there on the bank holiday Sunday on their first floor terrace... the roof retracted and we were lucky enough to have great weather. Absolutely smashing evening, bartenders were great and food was good and reasonably priced. Served late and the DJ was good... absolutely perfect spot for a birthday celebration!

24/04/2025: Disfrutamos de un encantador almuerzo familiar aquí recientemente — tuve una ciabatta muy picante, mientras que mi pareja deliraba sobre el pollo supremo y mis hijos demolieron sus tortitas. La camarera no pudo haber sido más servicial e incluso traer malvaviscos extra para los chicos.
30/03/2025: Si te gustan tus cubiertos colgados en la mesa, el café servido sin cuchara, las bebidas en un vaso sucio y el personal malhumorado, este es el lugar para ti.

08/05/2025: We actually wanted to go to Tropical Trivia on Thursday, but unfortunately it didn't take place. Nevertheless, the waiter offered to let us stay for a few drinks and gave us 4 drink vouchers as “compensation”. In general, this bar/restaurant gives us very young and cool vibes, with a diverse selection of drinks and food!

15/05/2025: Really enjoyed it. Brought my 1 year old son. My only gripe was that I found the kids lunch menu to be quite small for the price. Had to go buy a proper lunch for him afterwards. Apart from that, great food and really nice staff.
14/05/2025: It’s been two years since I left Brother Hubbard, but I still smile every time I think about the time I spent there.
Of course, I originally came to the restaurant just to earn a living, but working there gave me so much more. It was the best team I’ve ever worked with — and the best leadership. The owners, Garrett and James, treat their business like their own child. They care deeply about everything — making sure both guests and staff are happy and supported.
I’ll never forget how they would step in during the busiest times — taking orders, clearing tables, washing dishes — not just giving instructions, but actually helping us with everything they could. That kind of support is rare and incredibly meaningful.
I’ll always remember our unforgettable staff party — singing karaoke, dancing, enjoying amazing cocktails and delicious food. Coming from another country and being new to Dublin, I was feeling very alone… but this workplace made me feel like part of a family. It reminded me I wasn’t alone.
I left Brother Hubbard only because I moved to another country. I still work in restaurants here and have already changed several jobs, but none of them come close to the experience I had in Dublin. It was truly the best.
I’m deeply grateful to the entire team, and especially to Garrett and James, for creating such a special place in the heart of Dublin. Thank you!
And I absolutely recommend visiting Brother Hubbard as a guest — the food is simply amazing. And if you’re a kind person and a true professional, it’s one of the best places you could ever hope to work.
