The best restaurants in Arklow

11/10/2025: The Taste of Italy was a delightful and delicious surprise. I had the pistachio croissant and my husband had the chocolate croissant. We kick ourselves for not taking some to-go and for not tasting the organic apple pie. Since we were headed out of town, we missed their lunch special, but I'm certain it's fabulous. The hosts were warm and friendly. Highly recommend!

04/10/2025: This Italian has just replaced my favourite Italian restaurant in London. Might not be local but worth travelling for.

18/09/2025: I was a stranded traveller from Canada dealing with a ridiculous rental car situation and the staff here went above and beyond to help me out with local contacts, good food and good beer. I visited The Old House twice, nothing but good experiences. Its a very classic pub with good food and great Guinness.

12/07/2025: Just popped in as i was passing through. Really nice staff. Food was good except for pepper sauce. Nice atmosphere

22/09/2025: What else can be said about Coffee 4 You that hasn't been said in all of the other overwhelmingly positive reviews? A fantastic coffee shop with definitely THE best coffee I've ever tasted. Add in the delicious breakfast and lunch menus, sumptuous homemade desserts, and genuinely nice staff and owners, and you'll not regret spending an hour or two here.

26/08/2025: Lovely place and decor, great food and plenty seating on 2 levels and open air sheltered. Lovely staff, free parking. Can't go wrong.

06/09/2025: Wow 🤩 just had stunning family meal here. The food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Highly recommended. It is our new favourite place to go when we come to visit my brother and sister in law xx

26/08/2025: What can I say about this place? It’s fabulous. The food was wonderful and the old country atmosphere is what we all come to Ireland for. Some places have and The Old Ship Inn has it. They have a picture tucked away above the transition between eating areas that is a last supper rendition with the queen of Hollywood class Marilyn Monroe flanked by the Hollywood greats of years gone past. You go to this pub for the nostalgia of older Ireland. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Take your time, there is no rush to go anywhere.

07/09/2025: Never thought I’d see the day when Arklow served me something that wasn’t beige and deep-fried, but LOCO Grocer has pulled off the impossible. Their avocado toast? Genuinely delicious. In Arklow terms, that’s basically Michelin-starred. And the chocolate cake… to die for. Which is fitting, because I nearly keeled over from the shock of finding world class cake in Arklow, of all places. If you told me I’d eat something here that didn’t come out of a chip bag or a deli counter, I’d have laughed in your face. So yeah, hats off to LOCO Grocer. Who knew Arklow’s biggest attraction wouldn’t be the road out of it, but a slice of chocolate cake?

11/09/2025: We've travelled in Nepal a few times so we were attracted to this restaurant whilst visiting Arklow. So glad we tried it, fantastic food and service. We should have noted the servers name a really pleasant guy from Nepal. Belated thanks for a very enjoyable evening. We also liked the tables etc. Interesting to note many positive reviews one particularly negative. The negative one certainly not our experience. We will definately visit again if back in Arklow. 02/08/2025: An absolute recommendation for fans of Victorian England and Ireland! A wonderful atmosphere, similar to the series Bridgerton! We received such a wonderfully warm welcome and were so well dressed! The tea and the delicacies arranged on a tiered stand were excellent, and they asked how we were. Thank you so much for the wonderful and warm experience!

11/08/2025: Excellent food, lovely service (the owner, when she found out I was vegetarian, gifted me a bottle of vegan oyster sauce for me to try out at home) and beautiful view of the river as well. It was our first time in Arklow and we'll definitely be eating here next time we visit.

01/10/2025: We stopped in for lunch here with lower expectations after striking out several times in Donegal Town. We arrived around 1:30pm to a full house except for one table for 2. Great atmosphere. Lovely welcome/greeting from busy but accommodating staff. 4 lunch specials were offered in addition to the menu in this smallish bistro! I ordered the carbonara pasta and asked for a side Caesar salad which was no problem even though not available on the menu as a side. Hubby ordered the special chicken curry. Both were delicious! I loved the pasta but was especially impressed with the flavours and fresh ingredients of the Caesar salad. All food is made fresh to order. My husband commented on how perfectly cooked (ie not overcooked) the vegetables in his curry were. Looking forward to breakfast there tomorrow 🤗

15/10/2025: Service is shocking.... waited quite a bit for starter to arrive then waited over 40mins for main to arrive even after asking 2 members of staff. Rice was cold and portion sizes are small. Only good thing was the atmosphere at the teppanyaki station.
