Butlers Chocolate Café, Dundrum
Dublin
03/11/2025: Went with my partner on Saturday (1/11) for some warm beverages. She bought the Matcha with a pump of vanilla and I went with the Mocha. Both drinks were terrible. The matcha was weak, and we could tell they used a poor quality matcha to make the drink. My mocha tasted burnt, and it was overall just horrible. We went back and asked for them to redo the drinks, which they did, and they were still undrinkable. Such a disappointment because we paid almost 12e for both, and that's not cheap! You need to hire better baristas that know how to make good coffee.
29/10/2025: Long-time local customer. The new layout looks lovely....but the service is now utterly chaotic (partly due to kiosk screen ordering). And the coffee has become soooo watery. Beware that you need to ask in person for your chocolate if ordering at the kiosk screen. The poor staff are now harangued altogether

The Cycle Hub
Dublin
05/01/2026: NOT GOING BACK
My local bike shop in Cabinteely was super busy just before Christmas and couldn't fix some broken spokes on my rear wheel until early January so I brought it to The Cycle Hub as I didn't want to be without a bike for two weeks. My bike has a belt drive with an internal gear hub. Spokes were fixed okay but when I cycled away, the drive slipped badly when I went up any hill. Brought it back immediately to the shop and after they had checked the bike, the mechanic - tall guy with a tache - told that there was a problem with the internal gear hub. When I questioned this, I was told that that it was just a coincidence that this problem emerged at the same time as when they were repairing the spokes! It had nothing to do with the repairs they'd just done!
He was absolutely insistent that this was coincidental and, and he told me that he could hear a problem in the internal hub. He couldn't give me a price for a necessary repair - he would need to take the hub apart to see the problem - but would give me a discount on the cost!
At this point, I had lost faith in what I was being told and decided that any necessary repairs would be entrusted to my local bike shop. I told him that I wasn't leaving the bike with them and they then remounted the wheel. I was resigned to pushing the bike up any hills to get it home.
BUT on my way home the second time, there was no slippage of the drive at all! And since then, I've cycled over 150km without any issue.
So what's going on? My conclusion is that they just hadn't remounted the wheel properly after repairing the spokes and that was why the belt drive was slipping but that they got it right the second time.
If I had taken them at their word, they would have engaged in unnecessary 'repairs' and I expect they would have charged me for that. The kindest explanation of the whole episode is that they don't know what they're doing.
01/08/2025: Great. Got a full service and new tyre in very quick time. Prices in shop for small accessories cheaper than Amazon in my experience.

KC Peaches
Dublin
05/04/2026: among the best self-service traditional food restaurant in Dublin, pleasant atmosphere with respectful employees
23/03/2026: Had bunch here just before going to a walking tour from St.Stephens park. We reserved a table so there was no wait.
I had the full Irish which was great, but my vegetarian friend felt that her breakfast was lacking the main things like hash browns, so she added them on, but our order wasn't brought out so we needed to ask again.
The place is accessible with accessible toilets through a non-automatic door (that might cause some issues) but I would say for an establishment of this size only one regular toilet is not enough.

17/11/2025: The man who runs obriens omni is arrogant and extremely rude with no sense of professionalism whatsoever, if you don’t want to deal with people and order changes maybe don’t work in the hospitality industry.

Our waiter Lucas was fantastic, a great professional and so friendly. The food and drink were really good. I went for the vegan pasta and it was delicious. Go check it out if you are in the area. Great for large groups!
