14/02/2026: I don’t usually leave reviews, but I wanted to share this as I was genuinely disappointed, especially because Rudys used to be one of my go-to local restaurants. I visited Rudys for lunch last weekend. It has always been a place I trusted for good food, which made this experience a letdown. We ordered the full Irish breakfast plate and the spicy king prawn taco. The full Irish brea was slightly different than what it used to be. It was served on a regular plate instead of the iron plate and the overall quality didn’t seem as good as good before. But the prawn taco didn’t work at all. Instead of the fresh salad, sour cream and salsa-style sauce it normally comes with, it was completely full of purple cabbage coleslaw. The prawns and the purple cabbage coleslaw had no real balance in flavour and it didn’t feel like a taco. The mayonnaise was quite heavy and made the dish feel greasy Even the small details felt different. In the past, when asking for ketchup, we were given what seemed like a house-made version with a nicer flavour. This time, it was just regular ketchup. I didn’t complain on the day as I don’t plan to return, but it was disappointing to see the quality and attention drop at a local restaurant I used to really enjoy. I’m leaving this review out of disappointment rather than anger, and I hope the food improves again in the future.

28/02/2026: Excellent experience for afternoon tea. Refills of sandwiches and scones are unlimited. The scones and pastries are truly delicious. The only slight drawback was that the sandwiches were a little bland. A wide selection of teas and a few coffees are available. The setting is beautiful (special mention for the fresh flowers). Thank you, Claudia, for serving us so professionally.

22/03/2026: Big thanks to the Manager for arranging a table for us at short notice. We needed a table for 6 people for an unexpected family celebration. Although it was a busy Saturday evening the Manager arranged a very suitable table. The food here has always been very good & at a very reasonable price. The staff are super helpful & courteous. Nice to have your custom appreciated nowadays. Highly recommend Brady’s .

16/03/2026: A really nice pub, perfect for hanging out with friends and watching the game. Nicely decorated, friendly and helpful staff. The outdoor area is also very pleasant, and the heating is great. Recommended! ⚽🍻

12/02/2026: Great small, cute pub with a proper old‑school feel. They’re still doing €6 pints, and they pour them properly. Don’t be misguided by the photos online though. Those big, spacious rooms you might see are only for private events. The actual pub itself is tiny and cozy.

15/09/2025: We hosted a hen party here on Saturday for 21 ladies, and it could not have gone better! The team were incredibly accommodating – they allowed us to set up our own decorations and food, and were so helpful with everything from start to finish. We had corkage on some bottles of prosecco for a welcome drink, and the staff went above and beyond making sure everyone’s glasses were always topped up, even when we moved up to the top deck. As we essentially ran an open bar with drink tokens for guests, it was great to see how respectful and honest the staff were – they made everything so easy for us and didn’t take advantage in any way. Another lovely touch was being able to connect our phones via Bluetooth for music, which meant we could play our own playlist on deck and set the perfect atmosphere. The whole experience was honestly the highlight of the day, and all of our guests had an absolute ball. Thank you so much to everyone at the Dublin Canal Boat Restaurant for helping us create such a memorable start to our hen celebrations!

11/03/2026: An incredibly disappointing stay. Having previously had positive experiences at House Dublin, I booked a two-night stay for my husband and myself. Upon arrival, we were informed that the entire communal space was off limits due to a private booking. My husband is unwell and we had planned a relaxing break in a space we knew and enjoyed. Instead, we found ourselves walking the rainy streets of Dublin looking for somewhere to spend the evening. We were also allocated Room 15, which is without question the worst room I have ever stayed in at House Dublin. The lighting is very poor, the room is extremely small, and the bathroom is completely impractical. The shower in particular is so tiny that I struggled to use it comfortably. As we were unable to avail of our welcome drink on the night of arrival due to the private event, we went down on our second night - only to be told there was another private event. We were “allowed” to have our drink but advised we would need to be finished by 6:30pm. Throughout our stay there was zero consideration shown to us as hotel guests, and absolutely no sense of hospitality. As I write this at 10:40pm, with The Prodigy’s Firestarter blaring in the background from the private event below, I have made the decision that I will never return to what was once a much-loved Dublin stay.
