The best restaurantsof irish in Dublin

06/12/2024: When you are the driver for a large group and the 0.0 Heineken costs over €7 is a piss take. Food wasn’t badly priced but was mediocre at best

24/11/2024: Cozy pub behind Merrion hotel down a side alley. It's really a hidden gem. Doesn't get foot traffic from random people as it's down a dark lane and the crowd are mostly regulars who've been many times. Popular with locals and politicians. Need to up their 0.0 game. Guinness zero from a can (yuck), and Heineken zero from the small keg machine not a regular draught keg (acceptable 3 years ago). Also, time to lose the "assistant" in the bathrooms peddling use of a vast array of cheap aftershave and deodorants. I never find it comfortable being obligated to tip an overly friendly interrogation on how my night is going in exchange for a hand towel. This is not 1999.

27/11/2024: Good food. Restaurant was very quiet on a Wednesday night in November 2024. Starters were good but the Vegan main course was a mush. It arrived at our table within 3 minutes of us finishing our starters. We assumed that it was precooked and sitting on a hotplate for some time.

12/10/2024: To find this place one am has to walk through Ballsbridge and look for a green door almost hidden between 2 pubs. Walking up the stairs leads to a nice restaurant with themed decorations. The interior is nice. The atmosphere possibly too quiet considering that the room was almost empty. Food is good and the chef clearly makes an effort: recipes are not obvious and the presentation is lovely. Taste is not as consistently good as we would have liked. We had one dish lacking salt, one (the special) that couldn't get much taste even after adding salt twice and one that was even too tasty. I would have preferred to be warned that the special that I ordered had basically the same taste as one of the starters (the croquettes). Coffee felt overpriced: 3.10 for a cup or Nespresso?

11/11/2024: Nice big room, however the water from the bathtub and shower were very dirty. There was some brown material gushing out every few seconds, see effect of this in picture attached. I asked for the night manager over the phone but no one came. When I showed the image to the staff at reception the following morning, they said that the water has been tested and deemed safe. Really not acceptable to not be able to shower staying at a 4 star hotel!

11/11/2024: Nice hotel in good location. Great location for events at the RDS or Aviva stadium. Situated right next to Herbert Park. Car park available.

21/11/2024: Nearly the rudest service I’ve ever experienced, at the very least in the bottom 10

18/10/2024: We went in the bar randomly and it was a very good decision. Small location, but great in service. Service was great, friendly and welcomed. The food was excellent. Fish and chips and the Guinness stew was very tasty. We really enjoyed our visit. And for our next time in Dublin, we will comeback.

03/12/2024: after a visit to the RDS watching a fitness competition what more would you want but to relax with a pint of the black stuff and watch a rugby match with family and friends.

02/12/2024: A pub with a fantastic atmosphere, great for an after match get together and drinks. Meeting the legend Gaillamh was a bonus.

10/12/2024: Ideal for eating Irish stew or fish and chips and having a few pints

28/11/2024: I had lunch and was glad to have table service rather than the carvery style lunch which is the style in most gastro pubs these days. I had chicken curry and latte, which were of good quality. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the setting is great.

12/12/2024: Prices are somewhat expensive but the atmosphere is very good and the pub is very nice.

28/11/2024: I didn't mean to, but I went there twice in 2 days and 1 night. But all the food and alcohol were poor. The service was a bit disappointing. The food came out too slowly even though there was no one there. But the taste was good.. I had Irish stew and cottage pie and both were good. Guinness was also good. It was delicious I think there were mainly locals here, but there were no tourists. As soon as you enter, you take a seat, take the menu, look at it, and when you decide, go to the bar, order, get a number, sit down, and it's on your own.

31/10/2024: Absolutely best food around Dublin so far. Bao buns (pulled pork, and beef) was just mouthwatering. Fish and chips soft inside and crunchy outside.. even the fries was to die for! What an experience! Steak was great as well.. just a bit unlucky with peper sauce it happened to be a bit too “buttery”. House dressing on salad amazing too! Anyway highly reccomend, amazing food, brilliant service. Thank you very much

09/12/2024: A very comfortable hotel with a warm and welcoming style. Very helpful and kind staff.

03/12/2024: We stayed two nights at this lovely hotel. We had a king size bed, which was so nice, tall ceilings, a large bathroom, just a very comfortable room. The hotel has a wonderful history, which is posted about, the artwork is beautiful, as are the furnishings and decor. It was very easy to catch a short Uber ride to the city center, as it was a bit rainy the night we were dressed for dinner. We met and chatted with the delightful owner, Finn. We will definitely stay again, on our next trip to Dublin. We certainly appreciate your hospitality!

05/12/2024: Attended a company lunch Christmas party on the 5th Dec food was lovely but management was incredibly rude, forcefully moving our group from dinner table without any warning and same again in the bar area- could do with learning some basic manners
