23/07/2025: A generously sized restaurant located in the heart of Westport, near the river. It has a veranda and outdoor seating. The restaurant is spread across several rooms, and there are several TVs for watching sports. I was there for dinner. The staff was attentive, helpful, and quick with their service.
The food is good, although the menu isn't very varied. It's adequate, but unfortunately the beer selection isn't great. The dessert menu is good. I had soup and sea bass with puree and cooked vegetables.
20/07/2025: The food was excellent but unfortunately our experience was ruined by the service we received. We were rushed from the moment we arrived, despite having a reservation. We were given barely any time to read the menu and felt so uncomfortable for our whole meal. This was a special weekend away and probably the worst service I have experienced. Such a shame when the food was so good.

05/07/2025: Nice pizzas, very fresh, good quality ingredients! Apart from the ham that was on the Hawaiian, seemed a bit fatty for my liking, so left that off! So the pizza's come on a large chopping board with paper underneath the pizza! Really didn't like the paper as I think when I was cutting the pizza, I was also eating the paper! So I would definitely ask not to have any paper underneath the pizza! Other than that, nice pizza's, nice staff, lovely and warm with a nice atmosphere! We will return again!

22/07/2025: Booked a table early evening. Were jammed into a corner on a high table despite restaurant being quiet. Food was mediocre...beef stew was more potato than beef, Hake was tough and chips undercooked. Kids meals were good but chips also under cooked. Very disappointed for the price paid

16/07/2025: We have been twice this week to The Helm. I don't know how we missed this place on previous visits to the Quays ..on sat night we have the seafood player with prawns, aalomi, crabs claws etc.An.array of beautifully 馃構 tasting fresh fish
Last night we returned.I.had been so disappointed with a poor seafood chowder we had whilst visiting Clifden the previous day - so I thought and hoped The Helm would offer a different proposition..Whaoo. It was unbelievable! Copious amounts of chunky fish ..a full meal in itself along with their homemade treacle bread.We enjoyed their meaty mussels and then fish n chips .
We will be back today for lunch 馃構

If you enjoy your carvery food, I would recommend.
Disappointed in the lack of wine knowledge. Staff was lovely otherwise.
16/07/2025: This was a really disappointing meal. We had very high hopes, but sadly they fell very short. The server did not explain the two menus to us, so we were left guessing, and when an opinion was asked, she was surprised by what was on the menu, as she wasn鈥檛 familiar with it. The starters were good. The mains were not. The scallops were full of grit and the steak (which was an up charge) was overcooked. The desserts were good, but didn鈥檛 make up for the rest of it. For the prices they charge, it鈥檚 not remotely good enough, and gritty scallops are never acceptable. Why this is Michelin recommended, I鈥檓 not sure.

Location is great
Staff are friendly
Food not good
Chicken wings I'd give them a 5 of ot 10
Was like they where reheated, wasn't fresh anyways,
Sauce is nice
Chips where fine
Burger wasn't good , very burnt very little cheese and looked nothing like the picture, pepper sauce was lovely though,

If it was just food would be 2 stars
I'd give it a star up for staff and Location so overall a 3
Maybe was just a off day.
20/06/2025: We only went to the bar.
Beautifully decorated, super friendly staff, and good food.
Great location in the center; there's always something to see when you sit outside.

09/06/2025: Hadn't been here in years but as we were holidaying in the area we decided to go back. It was as good as I remember it. Just a shame I live three hours away.
05/06/2025: Stopped off for a snack here while out walking along the Clew Bay coast. Fabulous chowder. The new black pudding starter was great also.
(I sneak in here on my evening "stroll" also, for a chat and a pint,,,, shhhh馃槄馃か)

27/06/2025: Staff were lovely however we felt the food was very mean for the price paid. Almost 19 euro for a tiny burger and a handful of chips. We ordered a portion of onion rings each and still left hungry.

08/09/2024: It's very disappointing because we didn't even qualify. On the Internet it is written that it is open, but we found a sign on the door that it is closed. We were detoured from the route because of this cafe
