15/03/2026: Since dogs aren't allowed inside, we ate in the backyard, a bit of a hodgepodge, but nonetheless cozy. The "Chicken Parmy" was a hearty and satisfying meal. It wasn't haute cuisine, but it did the trick. Having also indulged in a dose of chill-rock (some might call it "alternative metal"), we left feeling completely satisfied.

11/11/2025: Love this hotel got a fantastic balcony room it was outstanding got a lovely treat as we were celebrating 40th wedding anniversary, the hotel is so central in Sligo, private parking underneath hotel a small fee for secure parking. Our meal was beautiful and breakfast was outstanding too can’t wait to go back. The hotel staff was outstanding and attentive great hotel to visit.

09/03/2026: Lots of room inside, and a good atmosphere. Large portions and good food. Although we were told it wasn't necessary to book, we are glad we did as it was busy when we turned up - as there aren't many other places to go in Strandhill!

05/03/2026: Lovely place with delicious food. We stopped here for lunch during a trip and we couldn’t have chosen a better place. The cod with chips was delicios and the soup is great. Loved it. Saved just in case I happen to come back to this part of Ireland.

19/02/2026: Incredible service. Food was ok. Got there tiktok famous chicken dish. Was drry overcooked and quite chewy, very heavy on mayo. Also got chownie to take away very odd tasted more like ginger pudding imo, not what i expected or wanted which was a brownie, not a sponge dessert. Service was great though best place ive been for service. Would like to go back and try something different tho. Bathrooms could be better very pokey but goregously decorated and im sure a great night out with company.

We started with the Mexican potatoes — a Frankenstein’s monster of spuds, minced meat, and molten cheese. Messy, indulgent, and exactly what you want with the first sip of a pint. It’s not a starter that asks for approval; it just shows up and gets the job done. The steak sandwich followed — simple, meaty, unapologetic. The fish and chips came out crisp, golden, and properly fried — the kind of thing that reminds you how good bar food can be when people still give a damn. And of course, a pint of Guinness — dark, creamy, perfectly settled. It’s the punctuation mark at the end of a meal that doesn’t try to impress, only to satisfy. Lags Bar isn’t chasing trends. It’s feeding people. And that’s something worth sitting down for.

15/04/2026: My family stayed in the Riverside Hotel recently while my husband was attending hospital. We have stayed here several times, but this stay especially warranted a review. The lady at reception, Erin, quite literally moved heaven and earth for us. She went above and beyond to help us. She is an absolute credit to the hotel! A lovely woman, the hotel is blessed to have her!
