The best restaurantsof irish in Sligo

05/11/2024: So many incredible menu options. I settled on the seafood chowder, oysters and Camembert app. Every bite was beyond delicious and tasty. I also enjoyed the gin recommendation of our delightful and helpful server. All that said, the crowning jewel is the historic atmosphere. Highest recommendation for this pub!

02/11/2024: Gorgeous authentic bar, with lustrous wood paneling and weathered snugs. Nice service and fresh, locally sourced oysters. A Sligo gem.

03/11/2024: We just had lunch here, 3 adults, the food and service are excellent something for all tastes, one of our party is vegetarian and she had lots of choice. There is a lovely ambiance in the restaurant, we did not feel rushed and we relaxed between courses . We will definatly return.

21/10/2024: The best bar/restaurant pub in Sligo. They are welcoming and warming, and its just a great vibe to even just go spend an hour or 2 to just relax and get latte, maybe peanut butter stack and enjoy. Food there is amazing and very feeling.

05/11/2024: I stayed here for a couple of night because I was working close by in Tubbercurry. The location was perfect for me. The inn is old amd in need of updating. I was a bit put off when I came in as there's no reception and you check in at the bar. When I checked in, the barman couldn't find my reservation (I had called 2 days previously confirm) but it wasn't an issue and I got my room. When I got my room, my first impression was that it was noisy as it was facing the road and this was backed up by the 5 pairs of earplugs on the bedside lockers. However, when it came to it, it was quite during the night. Rooms are dated and the beds could do with updating but, I slept surprisingly well. There was plenty bottled water in the room which was a very welcome and pleasant surprise. Food in the bar is simple but good. No complaints. I was a little disappointed as I booked bed and breakfast that breakfast doesn't start until 8am and that meant that I didn't have time in the mornings to have breakfast due to early work starts. What this place really has going for it is the staff. They are so friendly and as someone who frequently travels for work and spends a lot of evenings eating alone, this is very much appreciated. WiFi is super fast which was also a welcome surprise. This made it a lot easier to work. I wouldn't stay here if I was going away for a weekend but it suited my needs perfectly and I would stay here again.

04/11/2024: Won’t get much better than here in the local area, one of the best there is. I’ve often got the turkey and ham and it just gets better each time, looking forward to my next visit already!

28/10/2024: Fantastic as always. Went recently for my sons birthday (as has become the tradition over the past couple of years) and had a great night with lovely food and drink. Staff and manager were very attentive and made my little man feel very special.

08/11/2024: I was very surprised at how good the hotel was for a 3star, the room I had with a riverside view was lovely, very clean, I suffer was a bad back but the bed was very comfy, very quiet, I had a lovely sleep, I had dinner in the bar the seafood chowder was lovely, staff were pleasent and very attentive to all customers, thankyou, breakfast was lovely and a great choice, I would highly recommend staying here, such a great price for bed and breakfast, Riverside is more like a 4star, I will be back again and thankyou for a lovely stay.

27/09/2024: We were on a driving tour of Ireland with friends. Staying at the nearby Glasshouse we were looking for a restaurant for dinner that was close by. The exterior was unpretentious but once inside there was a pleasant ambiance. Service was very attentive and the food was good. I had the tempura prawns as a starter which was huge and very tasty. For main I had the slow cooked beef which was also nice. All our party enjoyed the meal.

20/10/2024: Had breakfast here on Saturday morning just gone… got the vegetarian option ( as it sounded so tasty) but asked for a couple of rashers instead of mushrooms.. no problem at all… lovely easy going young fella at the till.. wonderful fresh orange juice… food really tasty, hot and fresh… place was bustling and great atmosphere… really impressed.. well done all 🙌

12/10/2024: Consistently amazing food. The quality, taste and variety makes this one of my favourite places to go out for food in Sligo. The setting and service is brilliant. I'm a frequent visitor and look forward to the next time I'm in.

09/11/2024: This hotel deserves fives across the board. I've only tried the food so far and it's fabulous! From the presentation to the taste to the reasonable price, it's perfect! Location hits the spot - next to the river in the center of the town. Easy 5 stars.

11/11/2024: This very small cafe doesn't know wether to sell groceries or food - constant draught from the chill cabinet - the late breakfast we had was expensive and very average and much too big - my wife had a plate of food that would have filled two Alaska loggers. Toast was like a rock mushrooms tasteless uncooked bacon - just not great. Would we go back? Definitely not. Would we recommend to anyone? Definitely not. Sorry but just not for us

02/11/2024: A superb little spot hidden away in quiet Collooney. We had fabulous breakfasts from full Irish to a vegetarian delight! Plenty of tasty option whatever dietary needs you have. It is a tiny restaurant, so not great for big groups, but for nice family breakfast- highly recommended.

02/11/2024: I hadn't been at shells for a couple of years. Decided to give it a go for lunch today. Got seated fairly quickly then we were left 15 minutes waiting to order. I had to stand up to grab the attention of someone to take our order. I had Korean chicken & she had goats cheese salad and kids had cowboy burger and calamari and chips. Everyone else was served at the table and my dish never arrived. Waiting staff forgot about me. Once again had to stand up for a few minutes trying to get someones attention to give me my lunch. Korean chicken dish was like a chicken fillet roll from centra on a plate without the bread. The chicken fillet tasted like it went straight from the freezer into the fryer. Beautiful salad leaves destroyed by swamping them in gallons of mayonnaise. Couldn't finish it and feel sick after it. Goats cheese salad didn't come with pecan nuts or orange segments as described and no bread to accompany felt a bit cheap. The Calamari was burnt and the cowboy burger just meat and bread, no sauce. Kids meals looked incredibly unhealthy, no salads or vegetables. This place is a greasy spoon with burgers and chips thrown in the fryer and no real effort. Zero effort and zero customer service gets a Zero review from me.
