09/05/2026: Not very nice, had fish and chips, cod was tasteless batter was too thick, not fully cooked, chips were dry. Don't bother.

11/06/2026: Absolutely awful. Ordered turkey club on sourdough. Completely inedible. Total waste of €14. Packet turkey was tasteless and just a mush of rotten coleslaw avocado and mayo. Can’t believe how bad it was. Waitress didn’t seem like she wanted to be there either Chips were edible. Friends omelette with bacon was terrible too. Never again

31/05/2026: We order soup i didn't have the toasted sandwich with it . And we ordered a bagel turkey cheese melt something like that . So Turkey/ crispy bacon / cheese and we thought from the name of dish is would be warm but no it wasn't and cheese was hard bacon was definitely not crispy. Yeah it was not nice . My soup was barely lukewarm and had a strong taste of im guessing fennel not sure but very off putting. . And so expensive I know its dear to eat out but bagel, soup and tea for 2 just under 30 euros and didnt even heat soup or warm bagel enough to melt cheese. Didnt speak to staff to be honest they didnt look very approachable. You can see from photo how under cooked the bacon is . Over all it was okay but I wouldn't order soup or the bagel again maybe try all day breakfast we see .

30/10/2025: The employees are chit chatting with customers and make the rest wait until they're done this happened twice.

23/10/2025: There is a female manager there that is very rude. She spoiled your time there, when you just want to have a coffe and a moment of peace, as she is constantly angry and screaming at her staff. I saw her staff, mostly young people, being over stressed and one was with tears, I assume is not a nice place to work for.

18/02/2026: A couple weeks ago I tried mayflower Chinese for the first time after recently moving to Kilkenny. I was surprised at the price of some of the meals they have on just eat. I thought they must be gimmicks due to the price and amount you get compared to other Chinese places. Food arrived quick and hot and delicious. Would give it a 6/5 if I could. Would recommend to anyone looking for a Chinese takeaway.

20/04/2026: This place deserves to be 5 stars! Went recently to the sit down side with my wife. Previously had the takeaway and always found the chips high quality. They recently have renovated the interior and can see they spent a lot on it! It’s clean, modern and has a great atmosphere. Staff are super friendly and food was served promptly and hot. Our meal was reasonably priced, well portioned and fresh quality ingredients. The only negative I can think of is that the food needed more seasoning. Anyone used of highly salted takeaways might think the food is on the bland side - be prepared to add your own salt! Overall I was very happy and would recommend. Bonus points for having a Guinness tap

19/03/2026: I'm very disappointed how Mario's have gone the garlic cheese chips was disgusting and how you can charge that much for food like that ye all should be ashamed maybe health and safety should inspectus place

05/05/2026: We ordered a Chicken Fillet Roll and a Ceasar Chicken Wrap. The roll was good, the wrap on the other hand was very poorly filled, it was so small and almost flat. I don't know why the blonde woman put so little filling, it was not justified for the price of 5,80 € and left one of us hungry afterwards ... Unfortunately a kind of sad experience, wouldn't come here again. There are other places that sell sandwiches in the area you could try if you're actually hungry.

24/04/2026: The sandwich was pretty good, but the staff was awful! The man who served us should find another job; service is clearly not his strong point… it ruined everything, which is a real shame.

07/06/2026: A no frills pub. A typical old fashioned English pub with plenty of characters. We've been in a fair few times as a couple despite not living in Bury, and chatted to regulars no problem. The drinks prices are really reasonable. It does attract an older crowd as there are plenty of TVs with horse racing on etc. The staff have always been engaging and we've always been served quickly. Think along the lines of a Last Orders pub and you'll get ehat l mean.

08/05/2026: Great pub, football on TV, great pint of carling at a very reasonable price, barmaid was friendly & great at her job serving me straight away, I'm not from bury but everytime I come to bury will always make visit to this pub.

17/03/2026: The masala was far too sweet. The rosgh was good, but there was no noticeable difference between the cheese and the garlic naan. However, it was very quick.

02/02/2026: All the menu items we tasted was weirdly sweet. Just sweet. I have no idea how everything tasted the same kind of sweet, be it paneer, baingan, or even non veg curries. The only thing I liked was samosas. I would sadly not recommend this place to anyone with a spice palate.

06/06/2026: I chose this upstairs restaurant for a late lunch, and was really glad I did! The barn-like interior, with its timbered ceiling and whitewashed walls, recalled this building's former use as stables and grain store for the castle. It was spacious and clean, with comfortable chairs. The restaurant is self-service, and there was a decent choice of hot meals as well as a cold counter with quiches, jumbo sausage rolls, smoked salmon and various salads. I chose the cold poached salmon with green salad in a balsamic dressing, coleslaw, and grated carrot with raisins. The salmon was the best I'd eaten for a long time, chunky, moist and sprinkled with herbs, and the salads were very fresh and flavourful. The young man who served me at the counter was both charming and helpful. Would have liked to try one of the desserts but I was much too full! My lunch was not cheap but what you would expect to pay for a meal of this quality. Would heartily recommend!

04/05/2026: I had such a wonderful experience at the Kilkenny Design Centre Café, and I felt compelled to share it. From the moment we arrived, everything was warm and welcoming, but what truly made our visit stand out was a staff member named Kate. Kate went above and beyond to make sure my family and I were comfortable and well looked after. She was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to love what she does—it really shows in how she interacts with customers. She also had great knowledge of the coffee menu and offered helpful recommendations that we all enjoyed. It’s rare to come across service that leaves such a lasting impression, but Kate absolutely did that for us. She made our visit feel special, and we’ll definitely be returning again!!! Highly recommend this café, not just for the lovely setting and food, but for the exceptional staff.
