The best restaurants in Kilkenny

10/06/2026: Great takeaway with delicious food and excellent service! I ordered the Spicy Bag with chips and nuggets, and everything was fresh, hot, and full of flavour. The chicken was perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of spice, the chips were crispy, and the nuggets were tender and tasty. The portion size was generous, the food was prepared quickly, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Excellent value for money. I’ll definitely be coming back and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a satisfying meal!

21/07/2026: Just paid €9.50 for a glass of flat Prosecco. When I brought it back to the bar the bartender poured me another glass from an already opened bottle, unfortunately it was just as flat. I suppose they are catering to the one off tourist trade so they don’t care. Apparently the Hibernian is a four star hotel. Why don’t bars serve piccolo bottles? Them this problem would not occur. Love Ireland in general, but hate paying through the nose for (flat) sparkling wine. I probably should have ordered whiskey!

19/08/2026: Waterford Island GC. Great staff and venue and 18 hole course. lovely food. Ferry is fun as is fab Castle. we stayed for 2 nights in fab lodges Would love to see a mini boat tour..around island....Great experience..

30/07/2026: Hmmm. Upfront: absolutely no complaints about the food. Cons: Crowded, hardly we've been walked to our table. People being on the balcony are either forgotten or intentionally not served on time. I saw the other table's guests leaving without being served, so yes, this is an area to improve

02/08/2026: Good coffee but I have rarely experienced a smile from the staff. There this morning and observed 4 others plus myself purchasing coffees and not a thank you was uttered to any of us. Good manners & a smile costs nothing. Pity.

03/06/2026: Another hidden specialty coffee shop. Surprisingly, they serve coffee from 3 Fools Coffee Roasters in Cork, so the quality of their brews is undoubtedly very good. It's quite a unique place for such a small, yet very picturesque town. They have a small selection of pastries, some very fashionable açaí bowls, and a range of protein shakes, which I unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to try. This is definitely a coffee shop worth visiting and spending some time in to sit down and relax. Added to my personal specialty coffee shop map of Europe 🙂

18/06/2026: I don't understand how anyone can give such an establishment 5 stars. Apart from the free parking and its location 2 km from the castle, nothing justifies the price. Room number 10 was unsanitary, and the breakfast was disastrous. I strongly advise against staying at this hotel.

12/06/2026: The Club House was the perfect location for our short and sweet visit to Kilkenny in May 2026. We were in town for 2 nights, and the hotel is right in the center of the city, just 2 minutes walk from Kilkenny Castle and the start of the Medieval Mile. The huge onsite parking lot was very handy (and secure). Our room was beautiful and so comfortable. It was so worth it to include breakfast in the mornings as well, as the food served was plentiful and satisfying. We loved the Club House's character, on top of being clean and and elegant, all the decorations and design elements makes it feel like you've stepped into a moment in history in the best way. Staff were all so helpful and kind, and shout outs to the Bar staff on our arrival evening (the first night of our Ireland vacation), who gave us a warm welcome. One thing to be aware of is that there is no elevator, so I likely would not come back with family members who have mobility concerns if there was no availability on the first floor (from what we saw, this would be a very comfortable and safe option as all ground floor rooms face the hotel's secure parking lot, which was quiet for the duration of our stay).

02/06/2026: The oldest hotel in the village still in operation. We had a small double; well, small is what it was, but it was only for one night. The hotel has a lot of character, excellent service, and a great breakfast. Ample free parking and located in the center.

24/03/2026: Can you give half a star I guess not, if your not to fond of hospital food stay well clear wether that be poison off the food, hepatitis in the toilet, or a beating at the end of the night.

03/06/2026: B&B package. Family trip, 2 children aged 5 and 2. Check in was fine, helpful staff. Stayed in room 350. 2 singles and a double. Bed rails provided for the kids which was great. Room was very clean. Although strong smell of air freshener when we arrived which was a bit sickening upon entering. The bathroom could do with a retractable clothes line to help with drying the swimming gear. Corridors were so noisy with children until quite late at night. This was midweek so probably quieter than at weekends. Had to book the pool which I found annoying as felt under pressure to go and to be out at a certain time. Changing rooms were soaking wet. Someone should have been around more regularly to dry mop the floor. Adult mains were tasty. The portions were very small and the price was quite expensive. Children's meals were an absolute rip off. Toddler got the same portion of chips as the 5 year old. My son chose a chocolate chip cookie for dessert. I anticipated a large palm sized cookie. After I reminded the waitress about our dessert order, what came out for 2 Maryland cookies and a scoop of ice cream for €5. A large jug of miwadi was €2.50. I thought these prices were extremely high. Breakfast was very good. Good selection. Children were well catered for. There was a child's play area on the 2nd floor. This could have used a good clean. Safety mats in disarray and much older children there unsupervised as the games room wasn't open. Jurassic Newpark was most definitely the highlight of the stay. Although disappointed with the contents of the goodie bags (no bottle or cap). The children had a great time at the park.

24/05/2026: 1.Magnificent staff (Callum working in the bar was nothing but spectacular, professional and so much craic. Whatever they are paying him is not enough he represents the hotel so well😁 honesyone of the best bar man I have ever met) 2. Wonderful staff(have I mentioned Callum lol) 3. It is expensive to stay no way around that. However considering how well they run it etc I guess but I hope the price doesn't increase

18/08/2026: Stayed the night in the hotel. It was modern and very clean. Great location, close to a car park. The bar is small but has great friendly staff.

12/08/2026: Visited for Monday evening traditional Irish music. Fabulous👍

21/07/2026: Very nice central hotel with a great bar and comfortable beds, staff were helpful and friendly and overall had a nice stay, i gave only 4 stars because of the parking situation which is a nightmare , the spaces in the public carpark are very tight and it is always packed also with the one way systems in place it was a disaster trying to find the way onto the m9 for dublin.

13/05/2026: The location is great. Hotel lobby is nice but the rooms aren’t great. I was put into a room where the hot water wasn’t working and the shower head was too short as the room was for wheelchair access. When I mentioned the water issue in the morning I was advised the manager was aware and should be fixed now - not really helpful when checking out. I come regularly for work and do not think I’d stay here again.
