The best restaurants in Kilkenny

29/06/2025: Had a very poor experience in Bridie’s. Went in for brunch and were waiting about 5 minutes to be acknowledged by the man making coffees behind the counter. We decided to sit outside as the weather was nice. The outdoor facilities are extremely run down. The table decor was old and rusty and the “booth” we sat in could have done with a power wash. After about 10 minutes nobody approached us to take our order and I had not seen a single server. I returned to the front entrance to ask the man if I order at the counter or if somebody would be down to take our order. He apologised and said he would sent someone down to us. We eventually place our orders and waited. Our drinks arrived and were given a Coke Zero instead of a regular coke and my coffee was spilled all over the saucer. The waitress apologised and said she would be back with a napkin to clean it up (she never returned). The food was poorly presented- the eggs Benedict tasted fine but was nothing special. The breakfast hash had barely any sausage or black pudding in it and the potatoes cubes were undercooked, borderline still raw. The staff seemed very inexperienced and unsupported. The food and atmosphere was very poor. Overall a very poor experience.

25/05/2025: This place has gone down hill!!! Last couple of times the food has been poor so who ever the change of chef is they need to go. I cook better at home and the staff are very over confident rather than polite! Won’t be back for a long long time!

16/05/2025: Primero las partes buenas, tiene una ubicación increíble, justo en el río. La decoración es decente, nada especial, pero cuando entramos en la parte delantera de la casa que nos recibió no podría haber sido más grosero y desdeñoso (mujer mayor de unos 60 años) que asumí que era el propietario, si no debería ser dejada ir. . . casi cómicamente grosero en un boceto de Monty Python o algo así, ya que sentía que era mejor que todos los demás. La comida era promedio para ser cocinado por lugareños que probablemente nunca han pisado Tailandia y sobreprecio por lo que era. Es una pena ya que la ubicación es increíble en una gran ciudad. Probamos un lugar de tapas mucho mejor a la vuelta de la esquina la noche siguiente.

22/06/2025: Cake was a little stale and my mug handle was all cracked so had to get it changed, but there was plenty of people in this kilkenny branch. Sorry but not as good as the Thurles branch.

31/05/2025: Wonderful local ‘chipper’ spotlessly clean with friendly hard working staff. The food was excellent with generous portions. I had Southern fried chicken , chips and chilli sauce, excellent. But the highlight was the smiling friendly staff. It is worth going in just to see the pizza ladies smile, Rosalia I think was her name. I will be ordering Pizza next time 😁

12/07/2025: I was in here recently for a quick bite of food, I had a chicken burger, there was a few regulars at the bar to chat to while waiting for my food. The chicken burger and chips with a small bit of salad really hit the spot and was reasonably priced. Car parking was free. No where to park a car really unless you get lucky on the street.

30/06/2025: Pakora box was very disappointing the portion size would have just about fed the child. Just a handful of chips with very little chicken. Athough the food was nice it wouldn't be my choice to go back again due to a lack of food.

03/06/2025: Fantastic pizza! We were in Stoneyford later in the evening at a local pub and the group got hungry. Great variety on the menu... we ended up going with the 'super supreme' pizza... dough came out of the fridge fresh, which was really neat to see. Service was fantastic... it was a rainy night and we ran back to the pub to wait until the pizza was ready - the man who took our order brought our pizza to us unexpectedly :) totally recommend this place!

08/06/2025: We went here for the first time after moving nearby. We ordered online and 10 mins later we were there. Food was ready. Staff were lovely. I had questions about the menu and they explained it. We had dietary request on one of the orders and he double checked it again before giving us the food. Food was lovely! Will definitely come back again!

09/06/2025: Extremely friendly staff and so so welcoming . Food is always very good and the black pudding is a must try. Great spot 😁

23/05/2025: Good decent fresh fish and great chips, plenty of other selections like burgers, etc too. Very friendly and quite busy spot, which is a great indicator for consistent quality.
