The best restaurants in Kilkenny

18/08/2026: Lovely food both starters and main courses where very tasty. Would highly recommend.

14/08/2026: Really horrible service when we reached at this restaurant at 8:30 p.m. on 14th August 2026 then the told us that the kitchen will be closing at 9:00 p.m. and they don't have a seating available. Even though they had a big table available for aster set. They kept on saying that there is a reserved party which will come became back to the restaurant at around 9:00 p.m. and the table was still empty and then they stills. Then I does to entry to the restaurant and when we ask them what kind of gravy is there in the chana masala. They ask us what is gravy when we ask them, what is the kind of Dal with their using? They are stress. What do you mean by what about what kind of Taal this kind of hostel behaviour forced us to abandon the restaurant and go to Shimla restaurant nearby

23/08/2026: We all (2 adults and 3 children under 10) really enjoyed it.

22/08/2026: Younger staff should really be trained in customer service, as we were sitting down our waiter practically threw our menus at us and the same with drink mats, also some girls at the host stand should know they have a staring problem and everyone can see you giving dirty looks and whispering!

30/07/2026: The spices are excellent, much more aromatic than the spices you get in the supermarket. Cheaper too! And it's one of the two only places in town that sells mustard seeds. The butcher section is great, the chicken is probably the best I've ever had, juicy, moist and bursting with flavour

21/07/2026: Room was very low end - no air conditioning in very high heat - and bathrooms were poor quality. Location is good and place has gated parking - but would likely find a better place next time.

20/06/2026: The service at the desk was great. The rooms are the down side of staying here. Our room didn’t have AC. They had a fan in the room but it was still very hot. The bathrooms were very dated and could use an update.

04/06/2026: Last minute decision while we were visiting Kilkenny and we weren't disappointed. Food was great from appetizers to the gelato finish. We had a broad selection of choices- salad, pasta, pizzas and steak.

03/08/2026: I travel here every year for an anniversary dinner. It was our first date and have been back almost (Covid) every year since.

03/08/2026: A Thai restaurant where the cooking is quite nice and the flavors are used reasonably well. The starter meant for sharing was fine. The Tom Kha soup was well-seasoned, but it contained a lot of lemongrass pieces, which makes it unpleasant to eat, and the soup's filling was not well-balanced. I have eaten this soup much better many times before. The water served with the meal tastes like chlorine, and as a restaurant, I would serve bottled water. A few things are certainly not bad, but the overall experience could really be better.

12/05/2026: Was recommended to be a guest at the health centre up the road and didn’t disappoint. Really enjoyed the Smithwicks whilst watching football on the big screen.

21/08/2026: Stopped in for a quick lunch and was so pleasantly surprised! The food, service and atmosphere were perfect. Beautiful bar and immaculate bathrooms too!

19/08/2026: Really lovely place right in the heart of Kilkenny, on the main street, so it’s in a great location if you’re out exploring the city. We really liked the atmosphere here. It has a nice, cosy feel and it’s a great place to stop for a drink, tea or something to eat while taking a break from walking around Kilkenny. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even more enjoyable. The location is definitely one of the biggest advantages, as you’re right in the middle of everything and can easily pop in while exploring the city. It’s also a nice place to sit down and relax for a while. Overall, we had a lovely experience and would happily come back again when we’re in Kilkenny. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a nice spot in the city centre. 😊

27/08/2026: We were there the last few days and the manager hostess made us feel like gold. When we were there the food was second and none I had a fruit cup two different days and they must ripen the fruit in the back just to make sure it’s served perfectly. I think a lot of restaurants could learn how to do that for this one. Every staff person that came over and helped with the service was just amazing. They made us feel so warm and so comfortable there and they tried to make sure we could sit at a window if a window was open. It’s one of those restaurants that I will remember with Mount Juliet

09/06/2026: What does value for money mean? It means Lady Helen. We were there June 6th for a birthday. We will never forget it. Skip 3 or 4 meals out that will be soon forgotten in exchange for one night in this restaurant that will live long in the memory, linger sensually on the palate and will lift your spirits for days and weeks afterwards. Food at the highest level infused with care and expertise that will take your breath away. If you can get there then just go and experience it.
