The best restaurants in Kilkenny

03/05/2025: Anytime I have been here they managed to feed us, food good quality and good portions at reasonable price, with good service, what more can you ask! Drop in for yourself I don't think you will be disappointed.

24/06/2025: Wow & wow, my new favourite place to eat in Kilkenny ! Cafe style tables, delicious food, friendly server ! I had Piri Piri chicken with salad, few fries - delicious. Friend had Portuguese style prawns & salad - super yummy ! When I return, I will have the prawns ! I was hungry ... forgot to take a photo !

21/06/2025: Food is well-prepped and full of unique flavors. Setting is very very spare, but pleasant. Clams and grilled sardines (special) for starters both straightforward, well-prepped and tasty. Mains were picanha, and two specials—pork stew and grilled lamb chops. Picanha and pork stew were uniquely flavored and tasty. Pork stew was full of different ingredients (including salty and sour flavor bombs) and textures (crisp pickled vegs, olives, crisp fried potatoes). Lamb chops were well-seasoned and tasty, though slightly over-cooked. Sides of black beans and veggie rice were nice accompaniments. Dessert, a variation of tiramisu was flavorful and not over the top sweet. Very good. Service was attentive and friendly. Portions were generous and prices were extremely reasonable. The food is unique for this part of the world. If I lived in Kilkenny algarve grill wld be a regular stop.

10/06/2025: I don't often leave reviews but on this occasion I just had to. The hotel is stunning. From the outside it looks like a small irish pub, it's so deceptively massive!! The decor is divine, lots of beautiful tiles, beautiful wood and fresh flowers, its design and decor is both traditional chunky and French boudoir, with a hint of Georgian thrown in. There is a front restaurant, a back restaurant for breakfast, tea rooms, library room, back bar, wedding venue and outside bar, it's huge. We were lucky enough to get a suite for the night and wow! Georgian, four poster bed, large drapes, jacuzzi bath, what's not to love, the bed was the nicest cosiest hotel bed I've ever slept in. Staff were attentive and pleasant and helpful, the breakfast was so beautiful and fresh, I had poached eggs on sourdough. I've just left and I'm dying to go back!!

08/06/2025: We had a lovely stay here and there was a big menu of cocktails which was great. Staff were lovely and afternoon tea was amazing. Location was very close to town centre

04/06/2025: Nice hotel in the city in kilkenny. Its bigger from the inside than it looks from the outside. Restaurant is also available. Service are very nice. Free carpark as well.. I could even leave my car till I was finish with work, what is a plus. Room are very clean and the matress are very good. Everything u need is there.

22/04/2025: Astonishing experience with our infant, in a place for books and coffee. Warm, kind, and lovely readers there. We enjoyed the hot chocolate, the delicious caroot cake and and the hospitality of the owner and the people with in. Highly recommend.

10/04/2025: What an absolute gem to find in an already beautiful city! The atmosphere is delightful, food and drink amazing and my husband absolutely fell in love with the owner of the shop. She was welcoming, warm and simply delightfully ☺️ Couldn’t recommend more highly!

18/07/2025: Very Disappointed with Customer Service I went to the customer service desk with my mum today. She had an item to return, and I had some groceries to buy. I clearly explained to the staff member that my mum wanted to return an item, and I would then be making a separate grocery purchase. Instead of processing a return as requested, the staff member did an exchange without asking. Because of this, I was unable to use my voucher, which was very frustrating. When I tried to explain the issue, she kept rolling her eyes and said there was “no way to go back” because the items were already scanned. This was incredibly rude and unprofessional behavior. We made a simple request — a return and a separate purchase — and it was handled with attitude and carelessness. Only after I insisted did she finally call someone to help her fix the issue. Extremely disappointing service.

11/07/2025: I recently stayed at this hotel. I stayed for a wedding in March and had to come back with my son, and it exceeded my expectations in every way! The staff are absolutely amazing—so polite and welcoming that you feel right at home from the moment you step in. If you have children, this is the perfect spot for a family vacation. The kids club runs from 10:00 AM to 10:45 PM daily, offering a fantastic range of activities to keep the little ones entertained all day long. My kids had a blast and couldn't wait to go back each day. One of the highlights of our stay was Jurassic NewPark. It's an incredible area featuring life-sized dinosaurs, a magical fairy walk, friendly animals, and even a massive jump area that the kids couldn’t get enough of. It’s a must-visit if you’re staying here. Breakfast was a delight, especially with the new waffle pancake station. My child absolutely loved making their own creations each morning. Plus, the surprise appearance of the Dino mascot during breakfast added an extra touch of fun to start the day. As for the food in the restaurant, it’s top-notch. Every meal was delicious, with a great variety of dishes to choose from. Whether you're dining with kids or having a more adult-focused meal, the quality and presentation are outstanding. I almost forgot the infinity pool and indoor pool with a jacuzzi and plung pool. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for families. We had such a memorable experience, and we’ll definitely be returning!

10/06/2025: Meal was terrible, service all over the place, starters and mains came out all at different times. advertised entertainment when actually no entertainment came on, very overpriced in my opinion

03/07/2025: What an epic little café nestled into the medieval Kilkenny streets. The staff are super friendly, helpful and obliging. I love to pop in whenever I'm down in Kilkenny for some tea and a fancy pants coffee buzz. I've actually never eaten here but I've tried their CBD pecan pie, which is delish 😋 One downside is cash only, but I make sure to have some cash on me when in the city especially for Little Collins.

18/06/2025: I recently stayed at the River Court Hotel and had a really lovely experience. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable, providing everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a great variety of options to suit all tastes. Most of all, the staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating,friendly, professional, and always willing to assist. A great central location and a warm welcome made it a memorable stay. Highly recommend!

17/06/2025: An absolute pleasure to stay, so welcoming and friendly. Location was perfect as one of our friends hurt her leg beforehand. Have to mention Phil, a great ambassador for the hotel. She was so nice and friendly. Lovely to meet her.

06/07/2025: Pasé aquí el jueves y con el clima pude sentarme afuera al sol. A veces puede estar muy concurrido, pero la comida es buena. Esta es nuestra segunda visita. La última vez tuvimos a nuestro perro con nosotros, así que nos ayudó poder sentarnos adentro debido al mal tiempo. Muy amigable con los perros, volveremos.

16/06/2025: Great place so nice and clean. Just taken aback with the price of a sandwich Asked for sausage and egg brown bread sandwich. Charged €6.25 which is expensive in my eyes for a sandwich

22/04/2025: Super sized fresh fish and chips. Enough for 2 in one helping of chips. Real chips and very fries as well. Fish was very good with a nice light batter.
