The best restaurants in Kilkenny

14/09/2025: Me, my mother, my sister and her kids, visited this restaurant a week ago. My sister ordered food for her children, and 2 cartons of apple juice. When my sister food came there were no drinks. I went to the counter to ask about the drinks she told me to take two bottles of juice out of the fridge. I went to get glasses for the juice and the glasses were filthy. All water marks. I had to get straws for the kids. Just dry your glasses once they come out of the dishwasher. But other than that the food was lovely and the staff were very helpful, and the atmosphere was nice. I would go back again. It is a lovely little spot

02/08/2025: We traveled from Belfast to Cork and this restaurant was right on our way... A great choice! Homemade food and a great atmosphere. The photo shows the dish of the day: lamb liver with bacon, onions, and mashed potatoes. It was delicious. We also tried the desserts, which were the icing on the cake.

24/08/2025: A great pub, restaurant, guest House. Super friendly, great value food, indoor areas, outdoor dining, an off-licence, meeting rooms. It meets do many needs and occasions. Community friendly and hugely supportive of local organisations including holding events. Highly recommend.

22/08/2025: This is THE BEST pub in Kilkenny for live music and the people! I have been there EVERY time (6 times) I've been to Ireland in the last 2 1/2 years! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

26/08/2025: Lana is lovely and the staff are always nice, but the food can be hit and miss. Sometimes there’s too much salt or seasoning on the spice box, and the chicken can be overcooked and chewy or, at times, a little undercooked and pinkish. When it’s nice, it’s really nice — but when it’s not, it can be very hard to eat. On the positive side, they are very quick with cooking, which is great when you’re hungry!

06/09/2025: Well presented gift shop that’s not overflowing with generic tat. Nice change for Kilkenny. Eoghan was extremely helpful and pleasant and I can’t recommend the gift shop highly enough.

28/08/2025: What a wonderful place Legan Castle farmhouse is . Caroline was so accommodating. The peace & quiet was so amazing for us city folk . The best best ever ! The hot tub amazing ! Location perfect, just mins from thomastown . Our dog is still in a trance ( farmhouse life) thanks again Caroline

20/07/2025: We are just back from a return visit to Legan Castle and the five star hospitality that Caroline offers. This time we booked the entire farmhouse and stayed with my family and baby. Caroline is a world class host. From the luxurious bedroom and bathrooms, high end kitchen appliances and equipment, tasteful decor and “country cottage” feel to the stunning gardens and incredible hot tub - it’s really everything you could ask for in a comfortable relaxing trip with family. Caroline is so accomodating and welcoming and always a quick message away from answering any questions. The flower arrangements from her own garden and fridge stocked with essentials were a fantastic touch. Do not hesitate to book, you won’t regret it!

15/09/2025: Great pub: delicious food and fair value. Cozy interior, typical Irish live music, and well-chilled beer. The service was extremely friendly, and even though it was already quite full, they managed to make room for us. I highly recommend it when in Kilkenny.

12/09/2025: Had lunch there on 10th September, sat outside as had the dogs with me. Fish and chips for me and beef for herself. Couldn't fault either of them, wife said the beef was the nicest she'd ever had. Staff very friendly, brought out water for the dogs. Would highly recommend a visit if you're in the area.
