The best restaurants in Kilkenny

15/08/2026: Very tasty and filling gluten and dairy free chips. They have a separate fryer for chips. Mine had bacon, vegan cheese, tomatoes and mayo with chives.

19/06/2026: Staff very helpful here, got a ladder stand off from ronan for top of ladder, keeps you out from eve, very safe method of cleaning gutters, he did me a good deal on it also, highly recommend this hardware store.

19/05/2026: Sandwiches made to order by one amazing woman so expect a few minutes, but they hit the spot and were very affordable! Great location right next to the river as well, very beautiful local! It’s a window spot you order from, so not a sit down restaurant, but there are some tables outside!

17/06/2026: Bollards is our favorite pub in Kilkenny. This was our 3rd time to Kilkenny and we stop in here every time for pints, food, sessions, and overall great craic. Cheers to Damien who was our bartender and took great care of us. We enjoyed chatting with him and a few other locals. It feels like a home away from home. Can’t wait to come back soon!

31/07/2026: Very cute Cafe with a nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Scones and coffee were lovely and would happily drop in next time we're passing through.

19/03/2026: Visited The BlackBerry cafe in Thomastown with my 91 year old Ma, who was born in Thomastown. Ma had a toasted ham and cheese sandwich, my wife had the sausage roll with chutney and I had a cheese salad sandwich with organic vegetable soup. We all had tea to drink. The food and drink were served to the table quickly. All the food was well presented and tasted great. The staff were friendly and efficient. Great spot for a quick lunch. I thought that our lunch was good value for money.

19/05/2026: We stayed in the accommodation and there was 5 of us in one room and it was not comfortable, great place for a stag or hen but you wouldn't want to be claustrophobic, the accommodation was behind the pub and you went over to the pub for food , the breakfast in the morning was very slow . The girls working there were very nice to deal with. It in a good location for the rest of Kilkenny

19/09/2025: Extremely nice bartenders! Good atmosphere, you will feel comfortable at once.

06/09/2025: O'Hara's tap room. Went there and had really good beer. Spoke with two of the bartenders (possibly owners?) asked for a sticker (which no breweries or distillers carry in Ireland) and received a free t shirt instead. Great place good people!

04/08/2026: We stayed here for 4 nights during our time in Ireland and it is a very special place. You can tell that it's family run - staff is warm and inviting, and the charm of the original building from the 1800s is still very much alive. Breakfast was included at the restaurant Lil's, and the quality and quantity of options that were made to order were exceptional (full Irish breakfast, pancakes, waffles, porridge, etc).

31/05/2026: My daughter and I recently stayed at Avalon House Hotel and from the moment we walked through the door we felt so welcomed by Miriana. The Hotel is such a lovely place to stay. The rooms are immaculate and very clean. The dinner in the bar was sooo good and all the staff are very friendly and helpful, especially John who made our day :) Breakfast was really good too. It's easy to park and it's such a short drive into Kilkenny. I only wish we had stayed longer. We will definitely stay here again.

27/08/2026: "It must have been a bad night for me. Halibut, VERY dry. My flight of whisky was one whisky pour. Management handled as any great manager would. When your the host and a guest is leaving and you ask them about their experience and they tell you it’s okay. I would ask them what happen because that’s not what happen."

24/08/2026: The food was excellent, especially the beef fillet, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The service was friendly, and there was a lovely view of the golf course and the Wicklow Mountains. They also have a separate children's menu.
