13/02/2025: 5 stars - Old-school charm, top-notch beer, and a staff that makes you feel at home! Hackett's Bar at Seán Byrne's is a true gem! This old-school pub exudes a warm and welcoming atmosphere that immediately made us feel like regulars. The beer was absolutely fantastic - perfectly poured and ice-cold - just what we needed after a long day of exploring Ireland. But what truly sets Hackett's apart is the incredible staff. They were friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. Their genuine hospitality made our visit even more enjoyable. We had such a blast at Hackett's, laughing, chatting, and soaking in the authentic Irish pub vibe. It's the perfect place to unwind with friends and experience the true spirit of Ireland. We can't wait to return to Hackett's on our next trip to Ireland. It's a must-visit for anyone looking for a memorable pub experience!

28/03/2025: A really friendly and welcoming place. We are regular visitors with two kids in tow. Food is tasty, especially the quiche and also very good coffee. Dog friendly. Cosy setting a definite visit when in Callan 🐶☕️🫖

30/05/2025: Istanbul BBQ House – Flaming Great! Yesterday I visited this place and was pleasantly surprised — I felt like I had been transported straight to Turkey! It's amazing that a place like this exists in Kilkenny — if you live here, consider yourself truly lucky. If I lived in Kilkenny, I’d be visiting this restaurant every week without a doubt. I came from Monaghan as a tourist, and I can confidently say: this is a must-visit spot. The food is genuine, high-quality, and the spices are absolutely fantastic. What sets this takeaway apart from any other is, first and foremost, the incredible quality — this isn’t thrown-together fast food. Everything is made with care and from fresh, real ingredients. As you walk in, you see exactly what’s going to be cooked for you — right in front of you, there’s a display of fresh meat, and you can simply point and choose. Whether it’s lamb, chicken — everything is fresh and delicious, a true gift from nature meant to delight your taste buds. The cleanliness is exceptional, the toilet facilities are spotless, and I believe the seating area could comfortably accommodate around 20 people. So you can sit, relax, and enjoy your meal instead of eating in your car and risking a mess — because let’s face it, we all like to keep our cars clean. All in all, this place is magical, in a magical little town. Come and enjoy proper meals on clean plates with real metal cutlery — this is no ordinary fast food joint. I’d call it a real restaurant, and it truly deserves continued recognition for the level of service and hospitality it provides.

31/12/2024: Excellent and beautiful place and service. U booked a table for 7 people here in The Enchanted Kitchen for our 18 wedding anniversary. We all were very impressed with the atmosphere in there, lovely tasting quality food and top class service. 😋 👍👌 Honestly recommend to everyone who is looking for a high class dinner. Mario.

05/10/2024: We stayed there one night. It is a prefabricated house close to the road (noise at night), however we recommend it for the proximity to Kilkenny, the included breakfast and the good treatment with the hostess. We had never been in a prefabricated house like this, very large, spacious living room with kitchen, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom.

12/05/2025: We stopped for lunch at the Lyrath Estate. It holds a special place for myself & my beautiful wife as we got engaged here many years ago. 09/05/2025: Gorgeous hotel. The grounds, the spa and service is fantastic. But most importantly, the breakfast! I haven't had a hotel breakfast so good in over a decade. Everything you could think of for breakfast was there and great quality. Lastly, the honeycomb tray straight from the beehive, amazing!
