The best restaurants in Kilkenny

13/10/2025: The best pub in Kilkenny. Spent a few hours with some locals there. The best group and lots of fun. Best Guiness to be had there. Didn't eat there. Don't know if they have food.

17/09/2025: Fantastic bar with very friendly service. Extensive whiskey collection and very helpful staff! Highly recommended

15/12/2025: This place is awful. The food is terrible, service is worse and it's expensive. We ordered the burger and vol au vent and they were horrible. The salads are bland and disgusting. The server was rude, clueles and didn't even know what lager beer was, so we drank water. Please avoid this place. It was just horrible. I made sure to tell our tour guide never to recommend this place again. In fact, don't bother going to Kilkenny at all. It's not worth it.

28/12/2025: Amazing flavours from fairly simple food. We found here by chance one day after leaving the Newpark in Kilkenny, there was nothing suitable for my vegetarian wife on the newpark lunch menu. We have been back now 4 times despite living a couple of hours away. It's a real find. I love their vegetarian bruschetta (despite being a meat eater) the amount of flavour they get out of just goats cheese and pesto is amazing. I had their fish and chips on another visit, similarly top notch. My wife has had their vegan bruschetta (falafel and hummus) and mushrooms in cream sauce at another visit. They cater for our kids too. Myself and my wife both adore the lemon curd Eton mess.

06/12/2025: Full irish breakfast, was with wife and daughter we all enjoyed the food, large table in corner, staff very friendly and polite!

16/01/2026: We had an amazing experience here, from the food to the service. All staff were warm and welcoming and ready to help for any issues. The menu seems to be seasonal, making the dishes even more special. We shared the Côte de Boeuf between two of us and it was well worth the money, even having enough left over for both our lunches the next day! I would definitely recommend for a lovely evening out and I look forward to visiting again.

02/01/2026: We’ve been loyal customers of Rive Gauche for years and chose it to celebrate our anniversary, as it holds sentimental value for us. Unfortunately, our experience on New Year’s Eve was disappointing. After dessert, service became disjointed. We ordered cocktails, but the bill was presented and payment taken before the drinks arrived, without us asking. When the cocktails were delivered, we were told the table was needed, despite us still being within our two-hour booking time. Another couple were then informed our table would soon be theirs, which was uncomfortable. Given the occasion and our past positive experiences, this was very disappointing. We expected better from a restaurant we’ve always enjoyed.

04/01/2026: Cool place. We booked a table in one of the outside pods. They are ideal for a reunion with friends; they are cosy and give you a bit of intimacy. We sampled a red ale, stout and pale ale, and they were all good drinks. The food on offer is simple and good. We'll definitely be back next time we are in Kilkenny.

01/01/2026: This is what good dining should be. We’re eating here well over twenty years and never once had anything to complain about. Service is top class, food is top quality and the ambience is amazing. This restaurant will never be disappointing.

30/12/2025: Beef and bean brunch option was poor. An extremely sugary sweet chili con carne with random things on top. Bread was good quality, but seemed to have been pan-fried in butter. Very odd. Unacceptable for the price. I ate it because I needed a meal, but should have sent it back. 'Pourover coffee' was very poor.

23/01/2026: Room is nice, very Comfortable bed. Food was extremely good plus staff servicing the food were excellent and so friendly. Recommend the Orchard House.

31/12/2025: Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful during my stay here. My room was absolutely spotless clean and overall lovely. It is a great location, 20 minute walk from the city, and close to everything else. Overall great experience, would definitely recommend to anyone and would stay again :)

31/12/2025: Probably the worse bar service n Kilkenny. Pure greed during the day served all the locals before he would even look at us. We waiting nearly 10 mins and had to leave to go elsewhere

03/01/2026: We come here a few times a year. It feels like a home away from home. It is our favourite place to stay. Great location, great food, comfortable beds, clean, nicest facials you can get (especially Patricia) and the friendliest staff. They cannot do enough for you. Highly recommend. Cannot say enough good things about this hotel. Amazing.

03/08/2025: Mi café favorito en Irlanda. Venimos a Kilkenny por muchas razones, y Mocha es una de ellas. Deliciosos bocadillos caseros, ensaladas y pasteles servidos en un hermoso espacio por gente genuina. ITEs lo mejor! También impecablemente limpio. No puedo recomendar IT suficientemente.

19/09/2025: Phenomenal service. Spent weeks looking for the right paint colour. One visit and we had the perfect one. Also got an amazing sit down breakfast. Go here for anything you need. If they don't have it, they will point you in the correct direction.

12/10/2025: A bar with great character and charm ... sadly disappearing today. The bar staff and the customers were friendly and full of locals knowledge, the bar comfortable and rustic and the pints tasty. The toilets were clean and the prices reasonable. What more do you need!
