The best restaurants in Kilkenny

03/05/2026: You may think it's crazy that we were eating Asian food in Ireland. This was a great find and I will recommend it. I had a local lamb shank prepared in a sauce that takes over 4 hours to cook. This was a wonderful experience everybody enjoyed their seafoods there your beef and all the different things that we ate.

03/05/2026: I stopped at this restaurant while passing through. The atmosphere was great, and the service was very friendly and quick. The food was excellent and served very fast. They have a large menu. I would definitely recommend it.

15/04/2026: Avoid they allow men to use the ladies toilets my 9 year old daughter went to the bathroom only to be confronted by a man in the toilets with his door open..approached staff about this and they laughed it of..this individual constantly does this as if it was acceptable. A fully grown man in a toilet with the door open is acceptable to these guys..Avoid

29/04/2026: I have been a regular visitor to Langton’s for at least 20 years. This was the very first time I had stayed in the hotel. I had a room in the garden. The room was superb with a huge bed and first class linen. The staff were super friendly and most helpful. I also managed to get the room at an excellent rate.

23/04/2026: I celebrated my anniversary with my boyfriend, and we booked a room with dinner and breakfast included. When we arrived in the room, it was fine.After that, we decided to go to their bar. The cocktails we received were terrible. They should not have been like that at all - they were completely not tasty. Because of that, our mood already got a bit ruined.Later in the evening, we thought things might improve and that we would be seated in their restaurant and served nice food. But they told us that dinner was not in the restaurant, but in the same bar where we had the bad cocktails. I didn’t see anything special about this bar. The starters were very ordinary and not particularly tasty.And as for the steak we asked for two medium rare steaks, but instead they brought them well done. During our entire time in the bar, not once did anyone come to ask how the food was or whether we needed anything else. I can also add that they themselves don’t fully understand how their system works. We said that everything was already booked and that we didn’t need to pay, except for the drinks, since drinks were not included. I would also like to mention that on their website they stated that dinner consists of four courses. We expected it to be something like two starters, a main course, and a dessert. However, it turned out that these "four courses" actually meant one starter, one main course, and one dessert. They also consider one "course" to be a free coffee, which seemed very strange to us. Another issue was that the walls in the hotel are very thin. When we came back in the evening after a long day of walking around the city, we could clearly hear our neighbours having sexual activity, which was very unpleasant and uncomfortable. The only positive thing I can mention is that breakfast was decent. At least they didn’t manage to ruin that.So I can’t recommend this hotel.

30/12/2025: Beef and bean brunch option was poor. An extremely sugary sweet chili con carne with random things on top. Bread was good quality, but seemed to have been pan-fried in butter. Very odd. Unacceptable for the price. I ate it because I needed a meal, but should have sent it back. 'Pourover coffee' was very poor.

10/08/2025: We went with three children for a snack, and it's a small but charming place. The pastries were delicious, as was the coffee. Highly recommended.

31/03/2026: What a fantastic bar in Kilkenny. We had an area booked for 15 of us and had a great time with a great musician on stage and was able to get served at the bar easily even though the bar was very busy. The bar was welcoming and the staff great.

03/06/2026: Excellent venue for a night out. We perform music here every month and without fail it is an excellent venue for vibes, drinks and live music. Staff are always friendly and welcoming

02/06/2026: Unfortunately, this was a completely disastrous first encounter. We wanted to visit the venue this afternoon to check it out over a few drinks, as we had planned to reserve a table for four for the evening. Despite the place being barely occupied—at most 20% capacity—the welcome we received was extremely rude. When we asked if we could sit in the bright, front bar area, the response was extremely dismissive and surly. The tables in the front are only given to people, who wants to order food. As told before, the Bar was nearly empty, and it was 15:45 on a Tuesday. We were told, that we can have our drinks in the dark backroom. We left and wont come back again. We are spending our money somewhere else.

25/10/2025: Absolutely magnificent! The food at Tābú was hands down the nicest tapas I’ve ever eaten in my life. Every single dish was bursting with flavour. The staff, the ambience, the whole experience was just divine. And to top it all off, when we couldn’t get a taxi, the owner personally dropped us back to the train station, not once, but twice! That kind of kindness and genuine hospitality is 5 star service at its best. I honestly can’t wait to come back. Tābú should be in every town and city! Thank you so much for such an unforgettable evening.

03/08/2025: Mi café favorito en Irlanda. Venimos a Kilkenny por muchas razones, y Mocha es una de ellas. Deliciosos bocadillos caseros, ensaladas y pasteles servidos en un hermoso espacio por gente genuina. ITEs lo mejor! También impecablemente limpio. No puedo recomendar IT suficientemente.

12/10/2025: A bar with great character and charm ... sadly disappearing today. The bar staff and the customers were friendly and full of locals knowledge, the bar comfortable and rustic and the pints tasty. The toilets were clean and the prices reasonable. What more do you need!

06/05/2026: We travelled 40 minutes to Kilkenny just to visit this restaurant and we wasn't desapointed. The food is authentic Portuguese. We had prawn rissois, meat rissol and cod cake for starter, chicken piri piri and grilled cod for main course and milk pudding with coffee for dessert. Everything was delicious. Good service, nice atmosphere. We will come back again.

15/04/2026: Excellent stay last weekend with my baby as part of a hen party. Cannot thank the staff enough, I found myself staying on my own with my baby due to the fuel protests. The ladies on reception were so welcoming and helped with my luggage. The restaurant delivered my meal to the room, it was lovely. The hotel is great and the staff definitely made my stay enjoyable and relaxing.

08/04/2026: Good hotel located in the centre of kilkenny. Room was nice, clean and big, and despite it overlooking the main street it was quiet. Slightly odd setup that the quickest way to the hotel room was to leave the building and walk across the car park, but there was an option to walk through the hotel also. Bar was good, just went there for a drink, not food. Breakfast is self service and a good choice of hot and cold food.

16/05/2026: A really nice place, we didn't have a reservation but they fitted us in and were most welcoming, a lovely menu and we were all impressed with our choices when the food arrived, a nice range from mild to spicy so everyone's tastes are covered, Great service too. And I was covering the bill so was very pleased at the prices, quality food for price.
