The best restaurants in Limerick

02/04/2025: Where do I start. We had high expectations coming, as it's award winning. Fair experience with Indian restaurants around the city. Ordered lamb jalfrezi, pilau rice and naan bread. Lamb was dry and tough, naan bread was like cardboard at the bottom. Best thing was the dips with poppadom. Not sure if poppadoms was in house or fresh from the bag. Best was the dips. All were very nice. Ambience is top notch. More expensive than competition.

29/03/2025: Service is great. Very nice team (Hi Masum) Food is good, I was regurlarly ordering for years and I never have been disappointed with the taste (biryani, tandoori dishes are delicious). 3* for 2 reasons 1. One of my favorite dish Jumbo Prawns Tandoori as a starter costs €11.75 (3 prawns) 2. And the main reason that made me order much less during the last year really is the packaging use. One dish= one, two (side) or three (sauce) plastic boxes. They can be cleaned with a lot of washing liquid (a bit oily, strong flavours sticking to the plastic) and maybe reused but far from ideal. I wish they used compostable packaging like Camile for example (I am not paid by Camile to mention them) they became where I order the most for their choice of packaging that contributes to less plastic pollution which is an important topic nowadays. To sum up: I would order more often if the packaging was compostable. Thanks.

13/03/2025: Had a hernia repair on my stomach. The doctors did a great job and the nurses was top notch. One nurse saw I was nervous and calmed me down, talking to me about travel etc. They were just absolutely amazing. Can't thank them enough.

17/04/2025: Ordered the gym shark meal and a 4 piece boneless meal both large, one with Pepsi max one with 7up free for takeaway, had to correct them twice on if it was for takeaway, when I was ordering in the middle of it the person taking my order left from behind the counter to go say hi to someone they knew. When my food was done they gave me one large and one small drink, the Pepsi max was a regular Pepsi, they didn’t give me any forks, napkins or straws, the lid they put on my gym shark meal didn’t fit, manager left the store at one point to talk to someone outside, refused to correct any of their mistakes. Awful

20/02/2025: Got the Spicy bag/box with curry sauce. Size wise it's nothing spectacular. The chicken wasn't great. Chips and curry sauce ok. You've to order veg separately here which is mental. The house special fried rice is very decent to be fair though

29/05/2025: Have to say I’ve been to Old Barracks Coffee many times since they opened on dock rd Limerick and Birdhill and while the coffee is Superb the staff are what makes this place better than everywhere else. They are so friendly and good at their job. Reda especially on the dock rd is fantastic and always so friendly. If your looking for a great coffee served by top class baristas then look no further than Old Barrack Coffee Dock road Limerick, Guji Limerick city or Birdhill Co Tipperary. 10/10

28/05/2025: The team on the dock road are just honestly the best!!!!! Never not had an amazing coffee, but to top it off the service is unbelievable. I need to not wait a long time for my coffee, and not only is it delicious everytime but I never have to wait! Ever! They have amazing customer service, Especially the woman with red hair, 10/10! Love coming here everyday

15/03/2025: 16 minutes ago New I came to visit limerick for two days and was a bit peckish so dropped by to wok to go. Took a large spice bag to go but started eating it at the restaurant. Then I noticed you get the large spice bag and a drink for 9.7 or something. So I sent my husband to get the drink. We paid €12 for the spice bag and the curry sauce. This Asian woman at the counter initially gave him the drink and then literally took it back saying she can’t give it as we wanted takeaway and it’s only for people who’d eat at the restaurant. 😂 I found this really weird. It’s such a simple thing like why would you do behave like that with a customer over a drink. I was excited to find a place that serve decent Asian food but if you treat customers like then maybe people should skip it.

15/05/2025: This Restaurant is exactly what we needed. Great food: free crab chips, free fortune cookies and free jug of water. The ordered food was absolutely scrumptious! Very kind service!

27/03/2025: The experience was neither great nor terrible. The food was served hot but was overly salty. The cheese spring rolls stood out they were excellent. The restaurant has a local Chinese feel but is somewhat outdated. Service was pleasant, with a friendly server. However, the music was excessively loud, almost overwhelming. One notable concern was the pricing of canned Coke. The restaurant charges a premium while also benefiting from Ireland’s recycling scheme, effectively making extra profit beyond the listed price.

26/04/2025: The cakes here are terrible. Dry, tasteless, and clearly made with cheap ingredients. Complete waste of money. Don’t bother coming here unless you enjoy being disappointed.

30/03/2025: Went above and beyond with the cupcakes for our baby shower, they looked and tasted amazing , honestly couldn't have done better!

07/05/2025: Ordered food online, spent around 20 euro for my food and got like 10 chips and a small burger. Ridiculous portion sizes for 20 euro you can get a nice meal elsewhere. The food was tasty and service was fast but I was still hungry after.

07/05/2025: You're lucky we ordered for delivery colonel, because if you served me this tender in the restaurant I would have to be scraped off the floor due to lack of consciousness.

10/05/2025: KFC Limerick truly exceeded my expectations! The service is outstanding, friendly, fast, and welcoming. The restaurant itself is very clean with a great atmosphere, and the music playing in the background adds a really nice touch. I absolutely loved the chicken, the crispy fries, and even the fresh salad, everything was full of flavor. While I must mention that it can be a bit expensive, the overall experience, quality, and service make it worth the visit. A solid and enjoyable spot for a tasty meal!

17/03/2025: The new rice bowl was amazing. Taste really good. The place is neat and clean, I liked the digital menu board, so fancy. Will come back soon

14/03/2025: I was in here a few times at the deli counter and had a bad experience there visited again today to get lunch and this woman just grunted at me yaaa when she seen me eyelashes like something you’d see on the side of a road sweeper I see from previous reviews I’m not the first to say it you’d nearly feel guilty asking for anything sighs at any request and plasters the mayo into the doll as if she was filling a hole in a wall with poly filler I know what I’d do with her if I was the owner

17/04/2025: Just landed back from holidays, not many places open serving food at just before midnight … but we were just served a lot of tasty supermacs food by an employee who had a smile on his face who even broke into song briefly at one stage while cooking. He said is an absolute gentleman and yer lucky to have him as an employee. Lovely fella altogether.

15/05/2025: I ordered lana late around 10 to 9 . Tired and exhausted , i wanted spicy chips all day . When i called the lady took long to just confirmed my eircode. I ordered my portion of spicy chips, repeated it about three times that i wanted SPICY CHIPS . It came as normal chips , no seasoning .The chips itself was just dry and not good quality , its almost like it was fried ages ago . Im not complaining about the chips , its the service that’s completely thrown me off. So tired and disappointed. I ordered €50 worth of food to be let down like this

05/12/2024: Professors were unprofessional and unqualified. Most of them did not provide any marks throughout the semester, I would think I’ve handed everything in and haven’t heard anything so I must be doing okay but then get a terrible grade at the end of the semester. They assigned completely pointless, time consuming assignments that were a waste of time. It seemed like they were just making the grades up based on what they thought of students. Gerald O’Farrell was the most arrogant and worst teacher I’ve had and should not be employed in education. I studied here for a year as an international student in 2022. It was over crowded to say the least. Parking is a disaster and living close enough to not need it is very difficult as they don’t have actual residences for students. The gym was the worst gym I’ve seen in an institution of this size, it reminded me of a high school weight room expect they charge students to use the gym on top of tuition. As an international student many of the professors would discriminate and make jokes about us attending and not share the necessary information for us to properly complete assignments while they ensured the local students had what they needed. These points were brought up with the department heads, Tony Mahon and others at the time, by me and other international students but they literally laughed at us and said that “they aren’t going to change the Irish education system for us” and to “get on with it” Choose another place to study.
