The best restaurants in Louth

17/05/2026: We went about 2 weeks into it re-opening. Staff are so lovely, friendly and attentive but the food let the whole place down. Very small serving for the price, not fresh fish and us in Clogherhead 🫣 My chips were too overdone, my partners were undercooked so we weren't sure where the double fried chips were meant to be like. We messaged a lovely message afterwards giving positive but constructive feedback and they just ignored it. Won't be rushing back in a hurry anytime soon, we're local too.

02/05/2026: The most dirty fast food Resteraunt ive ever seen , bins overflowing toilets look like a seen out of Train spotting the film , floors tables all filthy ,I would keep away matter of time before someone get ill with the state of the place ,I can only imagine what the food prep area is like considering had bad the public side is ,AVOID

03/04/2026: My favorite restaurant in dundalk. Deserves 5 stars. Noel and staff really welcome us, every single time. They build wonderful connections with customers. Food always perfect, hot and plentiful. Cant say enough good things about this place

19/03/2026: One of the best places in Dundalk to try Irish dishes at a great price. The fish and chips and the Irish breakfast are really filling and satisfying. For the quality, the prices are very reasonable, €17 for an Irish breakfast and €20 for haddock fish and chips. It’s also in a great location, right in the town centre, which makes it even more convenient.

11/01/2026: Some of the items we bought were nice found it a bit pricy and the place is very messy the si down part is now used as a storage area and is in full view of customers also man making pizza was not wearing any PPE hair exposed clothes grubby

24/02/2026: The price is good for what you get. However, I saw the owner preparing burgers and was concerned about hygiene. He was touching various things with bare hands, washing dishes, and then going back to handle raw meat without gloves. It didn’t seem very hygienic. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

16/03/2026: Popped in for something to eat on Mothers day. Food was good and the servers even better. It's a bit of a hidden gem.

01/03/2026: Foods lovely top notch. Only downside is that the floor staff walk around every 2 minutes getting a vibe that we're being rushed and can't enjoy the food

19/05/2026: Chips are always undercooked. Also, this is unrelated to the food but this restaurant is not even owned by Chinese people. It's owned by vietnamese people, that's why the Chinese food taste so fake

24/08/2025: This place never lets me down staff are so friendly and the steak is of the charts chef made my fillet like it was his last medium rare and was so juicy pepper sauce is tops the stayed onions are tasty it’s never faild in my 2 years going here when I’m in town 👍🫶🏻🔥

06/05/2026: I had a really disappointing experience at McDonald’s that I feel needs to be addressed. I was served by a staff member named Naoise, who was absolutely lovely—patient, polite, and genuinely kind. She handled my request professionally when I asked for extra caramel and went to check with a supervisor or team lead named Grace. Unfortunately, that’s where the experience completely went downhill. Grace reacted in an extremely unprofessional and aggressive way. She raised her voice, slammed the caramel down on the counter with unnecessary force, and then proceeded to speak about me while I was still standing right there at the window. It was uncomfortable, disrespectful, and honestly quite shocking to witness. There was absolutely no reason for that kind of attitude over such a simple request. Customers should never be made to feel like a problem or spoken about in that manner. I left feeling disrespected and singled out, which is not acceptable in any customer service environment. Grace clearly needs further training in professionalism, communication, and basic respect when dealing with customers. On the other hand, Naoise deserves recognition for maintaining a calm and friendly attitude despite the situation. I will be escalating this to head office, as this kind of behaviour should not be overlooked.

03/04/2026: Great spot for an evening meal- I love their Thai green curry! They even have courgettes in it which is my favourite vegetable. The atmosphere is always fantastic. Their most recent renovations have brought it to another level! I also recently discovered their lunch menu which is Devine- they have this open chicken sandwich with melted cheese, I can’t remember the name of the sandwich but it is so delicious! I would recommend this place for couples, families or groups of friends. 10/10

22/03/2026: Everything has every allergen in it?!? Somehow steak and club sandwiches have peanuts in them? We then asked and were told that it's because all the food come from the same factory and they can't be sure of anything. How can you be charging those prices for food packaged in a factory? Outrageous. My entire party declined on dessert then because of how ridiculous this is. Would not recommend

05/05/2026: Decided to nip into this pub on bank holiday Monday for a pint of Guinness. Whilst the pub itself was welcoming, we cannot say the same for the staff. We ordered our pints and were met with “it’s cash only, there’s a cash machine in the back”, went back to discover that there was a €3.50 charge for the privilege. We decided to leave to try find a free cash machine only to be chased down the street. Another member of staff shouting down a busy street telling us that “maybe next time tell the bar woman that we don’t want the pints that she’d just pulled” and that we “weren’t nice” for leaving. Now correct me if I’m wrong, but is it not common practice to not pull a pint until payment had been received?! I truly have never encountered such animosity over something so trivial, and frankly we were not at fault in the slightest. If you’d pay your taxes and have a card machine, you wouldn’t have to chase customers down the street, and have multiple negative reviews.

03/05/2026: Warm bottles of beer. Cash only. Pool table in pieces. Basic drinks only, no cocktails. Avoid.

07/12/2025: I drove from Balbriggan to get the food from that place and I’m really very disappointed. I asked 4 Tikka kebab with 3 extra naan bread and I asked everything separate. So instead of Tilka kebab she charged me for Tikka tray and she charged me separate for 7 naan when she should changed only for 3 extra naan. I ordered 1 chips. So instead of €55 she changed €65. Pictures are attached the mount of chicken they put in the try. Looking at the chips for €3.70 it’s just unreal and ripoff. This place is scamming people in day light.

07/11/2025: I have been coming here since 2004. Yes its changed ownership etc but I have to say that you're recognised, if you've a problem, they respond and try rectify it. Yeah, we all have good food , bad food but they respect you, listen to you, try to rectify the problem. That's,the counterstaff, as they're the only people you see. I had an issue and male counterstaff membe, in the past solved issue for me, sorted it out, to my benefit and probably everyone else. Another issue tonight and working together we worked it out. This guy, is amazing. We butted heads but we both worked it out. That guy is worth every penny he gets. Minimum wage. Front line staff make you the money. Reward them, let them share in the profits too. Minimum wage should be the basic, but if they drum up business, let them share in the profits too. Everyone like being at home with family but unfortunately for that to happen, shift workers need to keep company-Country going. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at all shops, takeaways, for the jobs they do.
