The best restaurants in Louth

18/03/2025: Stopped off to have a light lunch. Went into coffee shop as the pub did not seem to serve food. The coffee shop is nicely decorated, and there are lots of cakes to choose from. However, it does not serve any gluten-free items. Very disappointing. It's not that much of an inconvenience to stock some packaged gluten-free items. 😞

17/11/2024: Had the pleasure of having a few nice pints at John Longs recently, very friendly staff and good craic with a few local patrons. Looking forward to the next time.

08/03/2025: I have a disability and needed to use the toilet urgently. All other pubs, restaurants, and cafes in Ardee have always been understanding and respectful. Not so the Fairgreen bar. When I entered I looked for a staff member to request permission to use the toilet but to no avail. Nobody was at the bar or front of house when I entered. I proceeded to use the toilet, where I heard strange, loud, noises emanating from the rear of the establishment. Presumably from the woman (?) I later identified as a staff member and another gentleman (?), perhaps also a staff member. Maybe I had interrupted a private meeting of some kind but in any case, as I urinated the woman began yelling into the toilet “hello! Hello! Hello!” Bear in mind it was around noon and so the bar was not exactly heaving (presumably this is why staff members had abandoned their posts for the rear of the building, where they made strange noises). Having completed washing my hands I made to exit. As I approached the door I became aware of an extremely aggressive voice braying “love love how are ya love?” or something to that effect, and then racing after me the same woman (?) staffer screamed, her inappropriate and frankly bizarre anger now uncontrollable: “Are ya awright luv? Did ya ask permission luv?” And so on. Given how rude and threatening the behaviour of the bar staffer was, I instinctively reached for my phone in case the situation escalated further and I needed to contact gardai. Thankfully I managed to safely exit the bar and hurried to my car. I want to underline that this bizarre, agitated, exaggerated display is very atypical for Ardee. I’m not sure what scene I had just interrupted or what influences produced such an extreme meltdown from this dangerously unhinged individual, but I can assure you that I will never return to this desperately run venue. Avoid this dump with its non house-trained staff like the plague.

04/03/2025: Got salt and pepper chicken know taste at all and came in a black sauce the over all taste was like eating card board .. plus the king prawns was like someone that was dried out and hard . This chef needs to leave how to cook big time . I am from Dundalk and I have to say this food you served was very poor .. that I had to bin it .

04/03/2025: Very let down by yous guys I am going there years . I ordered salt and pepper chicken no taste of pepper or salt and in a dark black sauce .. very bad also got king prawn they where over cooked when biting into them they where very hard and dry .. the chef is very lazy or looking his way out of things .. rang up was told to freeze my food and take it in tomorrow.. I will never go back to this place .. was let down big time and the staff did not deal with this any way good .. never again from Dundalk town .

24/02/2025: Superman's did not disappoint me again on servicing in Drogheda store, their soda machine was not working and they sold me kids apple juice instead after 15 min soda machine was back on and had to purchase my drinks again. and had to wait over 30 min. For 2 pizza and chicken tenders, place was like a kindergarten. Don't think I be visiting again. Also they said they run out of jalapeños. lol

31/10/2024: The food was terrrrriblee. We ordered fish and chips and dinner box, the fish was the worst. It’s taste like I was eating a piece of metal. It smelled the same. Very weird and gross, and the chicken was so dry inside and so grassy outside and bland. The guy was at the till especially and the other staff were very gentle and kind but the food was absolutely terrible. My 25€ is in trash now… Not recommended..

10/03/2025: Food and atmosphere really good cocktails 13 euro and really tasty. Desert was lovely staff friendly. Would recommend and will be back. On street parking but got a space easily enough. Great place.

06/01/2025: im back this time on the marshes kfc i have to say much nicer than kfc in muirhevnamor and staff was great too i purchased a 4 in 1 from new greatwall at this kfc.. it was scrumptious. All though its not even their own companys food it was delightful the man who served me was. a tall black gentleman and he had very gentle hands:)he works for both kfc and new greatwall if u ask for a 4 in 1 at this establishment they have them under the counte

04/09/2024: Martina at Bliss, Ardee is an amazing skilled baker and a lovely lady. She made our wedding cake and it was beyond our expectations. As we had no idea what we wanted she met us at her lovely shop to discuss over excellent coffee. She helped guide us in our choice and we left the creative design to her. We were blown away on the day when a beautifully decorated cake was personally delivered to our venue and set up to perfection. It provided a lovely end to our wedding meal and enjoyed by our guests with ( thankfully) some left for us the following day. We can't thank Martina enough for the beautiful cake, her complete professionalism and being part of our fantastic day. Thank you Martina. Jennifer & Harry

10/07/2024: €9 for a slice of cheesecake and a cup of coffee, in Ardee! You would expect to pay that sitting outside on the Champs Elysee. Avoid, stop at a filling station. Response to owners: At the trivial level I feel that I was caught for a sucker, I’ll get over it and it won’t break me. At the more serious level any tourist who felt that they were similarly done over in Bliss is likely to avoid any other artisan tea rooms in the whole of Ireland. So one business that works to this business model will actually spoil things for so many other similar establishments. The cheesecake and coffee were fine but not exceptional. In any similar French town we see the pâtisserie and boulangerie. These businesses are typically family run and will have been in place for decades and will be still there well into the future. So many attempts at this in Ireland are nothing more than pop-up shops that last just a few years. I feel that crucial difference is that the French do it to make a living, many Irish do it to make a killing.

21/03/2025: Kitchen legend is up there with the best Chineses in drogheda for sure, I never had any issue ordering from here for years don't get it as much since I bought my house on other side of town but still do get it the odd time. Sweet and sour chicken is my favorite it's absolutely amazing. Loads of options on their menu they aren't the cheapest around but you'll always get good quality food they rarely make a mistake with orders don't think I've ever had a mistake with my order. The spice boxes are the best in town. Especially for picking at if friends are over or anything like that. Cracking Chinese give it a shot you more than likely won't regret it!
