The best restaurants in Meath

12/03/2025: Family of 6 visited for breakfast on my Dad's 80th birthday as we were staying in Bunclody. I'd pre ordered an 80th birthday cake to pick up when we'd eaten but they brought it out with an 80th candle and sang to him which was lovely. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming and more than happy to accommodate changes to the menu we asked for such as scrambled instead of fried egg, nothing was a problem and the coffee was great. All 6 of us enjoyed the variety of breakfasts we chose. The cakes looked lovely but we didn't sample them as they brought us plates and a knife for us to tuck into the birthday cake (which was lovely). Would highly recommend if you're in the area.

19/11/2024: This restaurant/cafe on the main street in Bunclody is a gem. Very friendly staff, well cooked food, lovely atmosphere and a very extensive menu. They use local produce and have local honey, preserves etc.. on sale as well. I would definitely visit again if in the area.

26/05/2025: Arcade games always out of order. The older woman working there, is the rudest most unprofessional person iv come across in year's, very unpleasant to deal with especially when you have young kids. And judging by a lot of the other reviews on here, many other people have had encounters with her.

25/04/2025: A very generous one star, spice box may aswell have been chicken nuggets and chips. Bland as anything I’ve ever had, no veg in sight. Big enough portion but that just meant I had to look at more of the crap they served. 3 in 1 aswell not great and chicken balls were tiny you’d swear they were actually the chickens balls.

12/03/2025: Mega box for 20€ Is it joke ? Very very small, not veg and poor spices.

01/01/2025: The best pizza I’ve ever had. The staff are always so friendly, food is piping hot when delivered and they always do the extra toppings you ask for. 10/10

18/03/2025: Absolutely disgusting took over hour to deliver they said 30-40 minutes than food came freezing than they sent me fresh food and it Was thrown together absolutely horrible chicken horrible chips once again freezing and noodles were terrible this used to be a lovely Chinese gone down hill so much won’t be ordering again was not eating

28/12/2024: My preferred Chinese take away. I have never had any issues with the food or service. I recently had an issue with an online order, my fault not the restaurant. And they went out of their way to resolve my issue and sent another driver with the required replacement. Very much appreciated and grateful for their assistance. Food enjoyed by all.

07/12/2024: Ordering there for years and yrs. Used to be the best takeaway in the village. Unfortunately it has changed recently and flavours are not the same anymore. For example, my favourite starter chicken wings with garlic, chilli and salt - good price and a takeaway box full of yummy wings- I used to order an extra hot portion, wings were fresh, not covered in a thick dough but lovely and moistured by fresh onions, fresh chillies and garlic, extra hot had African chillies added and the dish was absolutely amazing. Ordered it today after a while and got few bits of wings covered in a thick dry red dough, all flavoured with powders like chilli and garlic. You would not be able to see fresh chillies in it anymore. Onions were also not fresh but a frozen mix of onions, sweet peppers and carrots! The usual mix u can find in any Thai restaurant lately...packed in a small paper box....for a higher than usual price...sad to see something good like that gone that bad, flavours and dishes matching all other takeaways in the area...I understand the price has gone up but the way of serving and cooking should not have to change as it was great. Pls bring our old Thai Yummy back as it was one in a million before it became one like million!

04/11/2024: Absolutely disgusting! Got my order completely wrong and tried to argue with me that I asked for the wrong thing. Eventually got a replacement order but was absolutely disgusting. Took 2 bites from the order and threw the rest in the bin straight away. I wouldn't even feed it to the dog it was that bad

23/05/2025: Very poor service here lately. Hot food was warm . Chicken was rubbery . Coffee had a burnt taste from it . No utensils available so when we asked for some staff pointed us to area where they are stored we said there was none there and they went and checked then gave us what we asked for . Nobody finished their food or coffee. Definitely gone down hill . Won't be dropping by any time soon .

19/04/2025: Takes too long to serve food / wasn't busy at all

23/02/2025: Placed order. Was told that order could not be filled. Asks for manager ( Betty ) was told she was not available. Young weekend staff were extremely cheek/cocky. When order arrived I did not recieve prawn crackers. Was told I got some already which I clearly did not. The staff need some directions in dealing with customers. While the food was sufficient… the demeanor of the staff was something to be designored.Will not b mor the staff is something that needs to be addressed.

11/02/2025: Our go to takeaway , mega box is great value and the Singapore noodles are great always speedy delivery , they have one driver who is great if your hands are full he evens closes your door for you , have not had a bad experience so far

02/02/2025: Was put on hold when I rang and it was 25 minutes before they even realised the phone was still on hold. Very poor service recently

12/01/2025: Worst spot in trim, ordered a simple delevery, but never came, they were happy to take my money though, and when trying to call them there phone was not working! Way better places in trim to order from, like a bin!! Do not go here it sucks. Total scam, do not go here.

06/05/2025: Tried Gem few times now and was very pleased with the experience overall. We ordered the Cantonese duck, sweet and sour chicken, and Szechuan chicken, all of which were cooked well and tasted great. The egg fried rice was also a highlight, nicely done and complemented the mains well. Portion sizes were good, with each meal more than enough to leave you full and satisfied. Definitely good value for money considering the portion to price ratio. Service was quick and efficient, no long waits for pick-up, which was appreciated. That said, it’s worth noting they only accept cash, which can be a bit inconvenient. Also, the chips were slightly on the dry side, and it would be really helpful if they had a proper website for browsing the menu or placing orders more easily and the interior could be a bit more welcoming mayhaps with more lighting when it's dark. All in all, a solid local takeaway with tasty food and good service.

25/03/2025: First time I came here the female teller jimped me out of €20 or €30 by giving me the wrong change. Upon realizing her “mistake” I immediately returned and she gave me the money back with a side serving of feigned innocence. Second time here I ordered the standard fish and chips. Inside the box was a long stringy chewy item instead of a filet of fish. The chips themselves were bland. The menu itself lacks any variety and the prices are way over the top. Navan deserves better than this. Also note the atmosphere when you walk in. The workers have a sullen, un-engaging and unfriendly attitude. I will not be returning.
