16/08/2026: This was our third time here, and my boyfriend brought me back for my birthday. It's quickly becoming one of our favourite places. We started with the oysters and a lovely bottle of red wine, followed by the Chateaubriand, which we've now ordered on all three visits. Once again, it was absolutely exceptional. We always order it medium rare, and the consistency is incredible – perfectly cooked, beautifully pink throughout and exactly the same high standard every single time. What made this visit even more special was that the chef, Tadhg, remembered us from our previous visits and sent out a little dish for us while we waited for our steak. Such a lovely touch. The staff were fantastic too, extremely attentive and welcoming throughout the evening. For dessert, I was actually planning on ordering the rhubarb and white chocolate cheesecake, only for them to surprise me with it for my birthday. We finished with a double espresso each, and it was a perfect end to the night. Sitting downstairs where you can watch the chefs cooking adds so much to the experience. We met Tadhg on the way out and were delighted to tell him personally just how exceptional his cooking is. Three visits, three amazing Chateaubriands. Hats off to Tadhg and the whole team. We'll definitely be back again.

09/08/2026: Went for a birthday dinner. We have the lamb rump and tomahawk as mains. Very disappointed with the quality of the meat and the very high price. The menu on the website is different than the menu at the restaurant. The meat was chewy, with a lot of tendons. The creamed spinach as a side was full of sauce, more like a soup then cream. The margarita was the most terrible cocktail in Dublin. They have the worst steak knives that could not cut through steaks at all. We were the first to arrive on the second floor and the music was so loud until the second table of guests arrived. The waiters did not come to the table and ask for our opinions. There was no such thing as service for the night. I did mention it was a birthday dinner when making the reservation but there was no acknowledgement at all. Very disappointed overall and would not recommend.

12/08/2026: Overpriced. One small dip for 2€ is crazy. I was there first time and the waiter knew, the waiter asked me what dip do i want or if i want it (i didn't understand) and since on the table there was "Dips.... 2" (no euro symbol) sign i thought it means that you can choose 2 dips for free so i chose them and ended up paying 4€ for dips i didn't even really want. Food itself was okay, but nothing amazing.

18/07/2026: We’ve been coming to Darwin’s for years and, we’ve never left disappointed until now. It was always one of our favourite places because of the warm, welcoming atmosphere. Being greeted by Colin and Sandra made it feel personal, relaxed, and homely. Sadly, that charm seems to have disappeared. Our recent visit was extremely disappointing. The new menu simply doesn’t suit the restaurant. The food was greasy, bland, and lacked the quality and flavour we’ve always associated with Darwin’s. It honestly felt like style had been prioritised over taste. The whole experience also felt rushed, and the cosy, atmosphere that made Darwin’s so special has been replaced with something that feels like all these new “retro” restaurants. It has lost the character that kept us coming back for so many years. The couple sitting next to us—who we’ve recognised from years of visiting Darwin’s—shared exactly the same opinion. They also said they wouldn’t be returning because they felt the restaurant had lost what made it special. Change can be a good thing, but unfortunately, this change hasn’t worked. We’re genuinely saddened to say that after years of loyal custom, this was the first time we’ve left Darwin’s unhappy. We sincerely hope the owners listen to the feedback from long-time customers and consider bringing back the quality, atmosphere, and sense of welcome that made Darwin’s such a special place.

12/07/2026: Crepes were tasty!! However, the overall atmosphere was unpleasant, it was unbearable to sit inside due to the smell of the food, and it was too crowded outside. It would be a better place if the workers could clean the tables on time, because we were just standing and waiting for a seat while two tables still had leftovers.

23/07/2026: Celebrated my 50th here saturday afternoon and can not praise the restaurant enough,the staff were amazing,so polite,friendly and accomodating,nothing was too much trouble..The food was really tasty too especially the chicken wings. Thank you so much,will definately be returning.

01/08/2026: We had a lovely impromptu family meal on our trip here and it was a great experience. Friendly, warm service and delicious food (the hazelnut-crusted salmon was a particular highlight). 100% recommend if you're visiting Trim!

26/07/2026: Every other Google review I've left has been positive, so it takes a lot for me to write a review like this. We had an absolutely appalling experience tonight at Stockhouse. We booked a table for five at 7.30pm for my mother's birthday and ended up leaving at 10pm without ever being served our mains. Our order wasn't taken until around 8pm, and only after we called someone over. Our starters didn't arrive until 9.10pm, again only after we asked. By that stage, the table beside us (table of 4 who came in the same time as us) had already received their mains about 25 minutes earlier. They had finished their meal and left before we had seen a single main course. Nobody checked on us all evening without us having to catch their attention. We also watched two other groups complain and leave. At around 9.50pm, my father asked the table of 4 who came in the same time as us if they had finished and paid, and mentioned that we were still waiting on our mains. At 10pm, which is the restaurant’s closing time, my father raised the issue with the owner. There was no acknowledgement of how long we'd been waiting, no apology and no explanation. Instead, the owner criticised my father for "ballyragging the restaurant to the other table". My father came back and sat down, but the owner followed him over, repeated the accusation and told us that discussing the service with another table was a disgrace. That was the point we decided to leave. As we were going, the owner also told us at the reception desk that we should be ashamed of ourselves and that in thirteen years of business he had never had people like us in the restaurant. The explanation we were given for the delay was that we had ordered ribs as a starter. If ribs take over an hour to reach the table, they simply shouldn't be on the menu. For the owner to speak to my father like that, in front of my mother on her birthday, was completely unacceptable. We offered to pay for what we'd had but were refused by the manager. I can't help wondering if we simply ended up bearing the brunt of the owner's frustration after at least 2 other tables had already complained and walked out shortly before us. None of this reflects on the kitchen or floor staff, who were clearly doing their best. The responsibility lies with the ownership for what was clearly a lack of systems, training, planning or all of the above.

01/06/2026: Had a great experience at the Coach House at the weekend. Terrific atmosphere on Sat for the champions league final, then had a superb meal on Sunday. My wife and Aunt had roast beef and I had the beef curry, meat was cooked to perfection. Very attentive bar and waitress staff, and cracking pint of Krombacher. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone passing through or staying in Balinteer!
