Millstone Restaurant

26/08/2025: Food is bland and without effort, the cost to quality gap has widened here. We have been going for over 15 years, and in recent years the millstone has unfortunately fallen into the tourist trap of providing low quality food at high prices and turning around tables in 40 minutes. There are much better restaurants within 1 minute of the milestone which provide high quality standard of food, even the food basics fall short, focus on quality is needed.
25/08/2025: The restaurant looks small but it could accommodate a number of guests. The food is absolutely amazing. The menu is not overwhelming. The price is very affordable for the quality, taste, experience, the portion. It’s a gem! Would definitely go back again.

03/08/2025: Had a meal here one year ago and the service was so bad it ruined my finacee birthday celebration was comvinced by the new manager to go back and they would look after us so we did tonight only to be met by terrible service again.
Left sitting at our table for 15 minutes before any member of staff came to to us and then had to ask for kids menu
Steaks oredered and 2 of the 4 were very over cooked my MR tommahawk was borderline well done sent it back along with an overcooked ribeye my finacee ordered a glass of wine that never arrived dispite numerous times of asking wont be back shame because the steak was nice the 2nd time it came out

16/09/2025: Very delicious. A warm atmosphere with friendly staff. The food, from the appetizer to the dessert, was spectacular. The meat was cooked perfectly, and the toppings and mixology were superb! I would definitely go back.

30/09/2025: Very nice restaurant, a gem in Monaghan. I wish we had discovered this place earlier. We had just a dessert, which was absolutely amazing. The service was so nice and friendly.
We proceeded to payment at the bar and noticed the liquor bottles with different flavours. We became curious and got free samples from multiple drinks. Being nice and friendly doesn’t cost much. We ended up buying two bottles and will definitely be back. It will be our place to go to. Please keep the service like this.

09/09/2025: I googled this location on the maps, just to eat and have a beer. The waitress told me that no food is served here, despite it's on the menu on Google Maps. She was also not friendly at all. So I just left.

16/09/2025: Food is good. Chicken is always nice. Taco chips are my favourite here. Much nicer than any other place in my opinion and they are generous with the portions too. The girls behind the counter are friendly and the food is quick to come out. The only thing id say is the location is not the best if you are driving down. Parking can be a nightmare and being right beside a very busy road and a very busy/infamous roundabout doesn't help either. There's always traffic coming in and out of the place so i wouldnt recommend driving there during peak hours.

29/08/2025: Came to clonakilty camping and ate out twice before we discovered Whales Tail OMG it’s worth travelling here just to eat the food the other time atmosphere the setting indoors and outside is just amazing Irene was in total control and with such a pleasant attitude to customers and staff ensuring both guests and staff enjoyed being there Billy in the kitchen ensured exceptional service and an interesting menu full of variations for us to enjoy We came once and returned the following night before we went home we can’t recommend enough if you’re in Clonakilty don’t miss out on a wonderful experience

09/09/2025: Me and my friend went on a very busy Sunday where the community games were on and also Matches in Carlow. Service was seamless and so prompt despite the crowds. Staff were really playing a blinder serving huge numbers without a wait. Great supermacs. 🍟🍟⭐️

I was working in a Residential Care Home with residents who have eating issues and require their food blended to a paste. The storm took our power very early in the afternoon , b⁴ we had prepped their meals.
*The staff at Supermacs were unbelievably capable, taking the time to blend meals with soup & blitz them for me, then helped carry the order out to the car for me. All our Care Home staff were just so grateful & residents enjoyed their unexpected Takeaway meal 😀

07/06/2025: Went for lunch with my 97 year old mum and my sister . It certainly is a 5 star restaurant with excellent food, and amazing staff. If you haven’t been you need to check it out ❤️
24/05/2025: I have eaten in this restaurant several times when I visit from London. Sadly the quality of the food is very poor.? Has the chef changed? I had chicken fillet burger. The batter was dark brown and rock hard. The chips are frozen and there was a tasteless limp salad on the side. Very disappointing.
