The best restaurants in Cork city council

31/08/2025: I understand this is only a 3-star hotel, but they barely meet the standards of a motel. Super rundown beyond the lobby (not just old). Housekeeping is excellent considering they can only do so much. Desk staff were polite, though they lacked initiative and weren’t particularly helpful. First thing you’ll notice is the old musty smell and paper-thin walls. The guest next door woke me up using the bathroom. I even heard the clicking of him texting before his shower. Thankfully, I was on the top floor. Several advertised “amenities” were misleading and missing. They had like five parking spots in their “lot,” so you are expected to pay for parking down the street. Unable to provide a charging adapter as agreed, but sold me a used charger for $10 USD. The room itself could barely hold a double bed and offered no basic necessities besides the watered-down soap pump on the wall. Guests are also not permitted to have a friend wait in the room. They have to wait outside, which feels unnecessarily restrictive. $185 USD (discounted through booking online) for a 10hr stay, I at least expected a complimentary bottle of water or a room that didn’t reek of the 50s. I hate how negative this review is, but this hotel only aims to take every penny they can. Charging me for a used charger (visible scuffs on the metal) when all I needed was an adapter? Did another guest leave that behind? Save the “thanks” comment for the next review. It’s nonchalant and directly shows that you don’t care. Yes, it’s a business, but do better.

31/10/2025: I get fish and chips here and they are always very nice I got very over cooked Haddock with batter that I could not chew. I give it to the dogs. I got an extra few bags of chips with toppings that did not look burnt but no one could finish them as they were very poor. Hopefully this is resolved. The staff are very nice in there!

20/10/2025: Just bought a brat in a bun meal and the chips had the texture of a bag of toenails. You need to throw out the chips off they’ve been under the heat lamp for a while guys. Burger was ok, too much bread not enough breast. Disappointing

28/06/2025: really weird vibe in there, felt unsafe. everything was overpriced, too and the sound quality was bad.

27/10/2025: Order a delivery and they sent me my food and the gave me egg fried rice from Someone elses order and put sauce in it and then I rang up the lady on phone passed phone over and said I just told her ur manger u speek to her I am not. And they called me a lier saying no manger no own available Son is alergic to sauce and took one spoon full and said there sauce on it so I dish out the rice to see and the rice covered in sauce. And lady said not possible ur lieing and said not helping you in any way absolutely disgusting behaviour have all pics of food untouch and she saying I done that myself and the girl on phone pretending that she manager disrespectful pic of food all un touch un opened only rice and they say I’m lien and now child is broke out in rash will be taking it further staff are absolutely disgusting behaviour on the phone and then hung up when they said no ur liening no possible bare in mind I have never had issue before and food was always good and the delivery men are lovely to deal with but staff in there rude and disrespectful to the customers

08/10/2025: Best Chinese in the city. Food and service is great. If you’re looking for good Chinese, thats it!

21/08/2025: Absolutely amazing place, the staff are so friendly and accommodating, the owner came over to welcome us and ask if everything was to our liking, The food is so tasty too and very reasonable

29/04/2025: Just had a delivery from Pizza Daddy. We had the fried chicken kebab, chicken tikka kebab, taco fries and a burger. Extremely happy with the food and quality. Fast delivery through Just Eat, and a loyalty card system with Pizza Daddy through just eat! Love loyalty systems! We will definitely buy again, not just because of the loyalty program, but the brilliant food. Thanks Pizza Daddy.

11/06/2025: I went to the Maxol station in Ballincollig this morning expecting it to open at 6:00 AM, as listed on both Google Maps and their website. I waited outside for 10 minutes, hoping to quickly pick up a few things and fill up my car with petrol. However, when I got closer to the door after 6:00, I noticed a sign stating that they actually open at 6:30 AM. It’s really frustrating and misleading, especially when you’re planning your morning based on the advertised opening hours. Please update your hours online to reflect the correct opening time.

16/09/2025: Very mediocre burger, patties dripping in oil. Didn't feel well after eating it. Chips were alright. The size of a burger tho, quite pathetic. For a place that does only burgers, I expected sth better, while I'd rather go to Burger King next time and get 2 small burgers except one for this price.

02/07/2025: Every single time I go to this place they get my order wrong, and it takes at least two tries to get it right. All I ever order from here is a plain halloumi burger with sweet chilli sauce NOT sweet chilli mayo and Every single time i either get a burger with sweet chilli mayo or with everything on it. Is it really that difficult to make a plain burger with sauce?

10/11/2025: The food was delicious, and the service was quick. I especially enjoyed the chow mein. It’s a quiet place, great for a conversation. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, though vegetarian options are limited.

02/12/2025: We visited the Marina Market in Cork today, a 2 hour drive from where we live and my goodness it’s worth it for this food alone! We got the tenders and baos to share. The Korean fried chicken baos in particular are stunning, myself and my husband were very impressed 😍 gorgeous crispy coated chicken, fresh flavours, delicious sauces and pickles. Perfect! Highly recommended!

14/02/2025: Very friendly staff and good service but food wasn’t good. Pasta al limone was inedible because it was so bitter and the tiramisu was frozen in the middle. Disappointing.

08/02/2025: recently visited Don gregorio, a fresh pasta spot in the city, with high expectations, but unfortunately, my experience was a mixed bag. I ordered the spicy pasta with guanciale, and I was disappointed to find that the dish didn’t include any guanciale at all. The pasta itself was clumped together, likely because it wasn’t loosened enough with sauce, and the sauce lacked flavor. For a restaurant specializing in fresh pasta, this was a letdown. On a positive note, the **mortadella focaccia** was excellent—well-prepared and flavorful. The **coffee and cannoli** were also highlights of the meal, and I’d definitely recommend them. One frustration was missing out on the **ragu special**, which is one of my favorites. I wasn’t informed about it by the staff but overheard the waiter telling other customers. It would have been nice to have been given the same opportunity to try it. Overall, while there were some bright spots, the inconsistency in the food and service left me underwhelmed. I might give it another try in the future, but for now, I’d recommend sticking to the appetizers and desserts.

31/10/2025: They’ll tell you your order is ready and when you show up to collect they’ll start prepping the order. They couldn’t organise a session in a brewery.

21/10/2025: Food here is really, I would recommend the dinner box, chips are really nice and the chicken is cooked perfectly, I also recommend the curry sauce really tasty, staff are really nice and the place is kept clean and tidy

23/07/2025: I had haddock and it was not pinboned and when I was eating scales were coming directly in my mouth. It was not descaled as well and the quantity was not enough. Very bad experience with haddock. 1/4 and 1/2 pounders are nice.

07/09/2025: Really really disappointing place in general. The interior was quite dingy and stuffy. The place looks quite careless thrown together with random stuff on the walls and a pool table that it is not in use. A group and I tried to watch an Irish soccer game there one night. The commentary was 5 seconds behind the visuals and one of the screens was glitching. The women insisted everyone at our table bought something when actually 4 out of 5 of us bought something. She was quite rude, blunt and ill mannered. It really made us feel uncomfortable, unwanted and unappreciated. Out of the 100s of great pubs in Cork, this is definitely one of the to avoid.

18/07/2025: Though I've never been a customer of this bar. The auld one who runs the bar needs to realise that the bar does not own the parking space outside the bar and by placing kegs outside the premises, does not mean that the general public cannot park there. The woman who works there shouting abuse at me last week which was totally uncalled for.
