The best restaurants in Cork city council

31/08/2025: I understand this is only a 3-star hotel, but they barely meet the standards of a motel. Super rundown beyond the lobby (not just old). Housekeeping is excellent considering they can only do so much. Desk staff were polite, though they lacked initiative and weren’t particularly helpful. First thing you’ll notice is the old musty smell and paper-thin walls. The guest next door woke me up using the bathroom. I even heard the clicking of him texting before his shower. Thankfully, I was on the top floor. Several advertised “amenities” were misleading and missing. They had like five parking spots in their “lot,” so you are expected to pay for parking down the street. Unable to provide a charging adapter as agreed, but sold me a used charger for $10 USD. The room itself could barely hold a double bed and offered no basic necessities besides the watered-down soap pump on the wall. Guests are also not permitted to have a friend wait in the room. They have to wait outside, which feels unnecessarily restrictive. $185 USD (discounted through booking online) for a 10hr stay, I at least expected a complimentary bottle of water or a room that didn’t reek of the 50s. I hate how negative this review is, but this hotel only aims to take every penny they can. Charging me for a used charger (visible scuffs on the metal) when all I needed was an adapter? Did another guest leave that behind? Save the “thanks” comment for the next review. It’s nonchalant and directly shows that you don’t care. Yes, it’s a business, but do better.

08/10/2025: Came in during the evening and the girl serving me was lovely, great customer service and a smile on her face throughout the queue. Some people were looking for jobs and she was very accommodating. Have been here multiple times and I’ll continue to come back.

19/09/2025: food was fabulous as always 10/10 beautiful curry, and lovely chips, best chineese food around, highly recommend, also the spare ribs in peeking sauce and the salt chilli duck is out of this world. the lady behind the counter fiona is so friendly and so good to my son always so friendly great food great service,

28/09/2025: Very chilled place to eat. Visited on a sat so was super busy but worth the wait. Grab a table, order at the till and they’ll bring it down in due course. Food was hot and tasty. It’s def a place to wear casual and chat. Everyone was having conversations which was refreshing. Toilets were clean

13/09/2025: Ordered delivery over two hours ago. Money taken from my account but no delivery as of yet and I cannot contact them by phone or email. Disgusted Food was eventually delivered but it was just warm. Very disappointed.

13/09/2025: I ordered a single donut. And wanted to quickly eat it in the corner of the store for 1 mins, when there were no other customers there and it was cold outside. I was told to by one of the staff member, in a rude and aggressive tone that “this is not a restaurant” and told to leave.

24/08/2025: Very good donuts, a little expensive, but that's how the stores manage to pay their bills. This store used to be a tobacconist's and now, completely renovated, they opened a space where they make some out-of-this-world donuts. Congratulations.

27/09/2025: Went there last night. We enjoyed the food but I think I got food poisoning, as that same night I woke up with severe tummy pain and afterwards I vomited non stop until I’ve nothing to vomit anymore. Should I be contacting them to inform them of my ordeal?

11/06/2025: I went to the Maxol station in Ballincollig this morning expecting it to open at 6:00 AM, as listed on both Google Maps and their website. I waited outside for 10 minutes, hoping to quickly pick up a few things and fill up my car with petrol. However, when I got closer to the door after 6:00, I noticed a sign stating that they actually open at 6:30 AM. It’s really frustrating and misleading, especially when you’re planning your morning based on the advertised opening hours. Please update your hours online to reflect the correct opening time.

30/08/2025: A very good coffee shop, perfect for a morning stop for breakfast and a quality coffee. I really liked the coffee. I'm a fan of good coffee, and I know what good coffee is from bad. There's quality here. Congratulations on transforming this place into a coffee shop with above-average quality, despite the competition's disapproval and attempts to argue otherwise. But time is the best way to test it. I highly recommend it; you won't leave here dissatisfied.

06/06/2025: Cafe is small and seating cramped, decor a bit depressing. Coffee was OK though the cappuccino was very milky . There are better coffee shops around for the same price.

23/08/2025: Not to bad Chinese if we compare with all Chinese take aways and restaurants all over the city, for me was to salted but over all was ok.

02/10/2025: Food was well, the service terrible. The order machine didn't have any paper left in the printer (2 vists in a row) and it took around 20 minutes to get an average order.

23/09/2025: Everything is great in principle. But we ordered tea with milk - they gave it without milk😅plus be prepared that the toilet does not work after 22.00 although Mac himself works until 00.00

24/09/2025: I got a flamed grill quarter pounder in there, and I will be going back again there food is nice.

03/08/2025: I placed a delivery and they took my money never delivered it, said they did and charged me for it and refused to give me a refund. Scammers, would never go here again.

15/06/2025: €17 for a Roast chicken dinner and I kid you not it was the worst I’ve ever attempted to eat in my life, I rarely have a complaint and I’ll move on not the end of the world but I was so so disgusted after eating in here the other day, the chicken is literally a breast of chicken fried, and so hard on the outside, not a sliced roasted chicken as you’d expect, I ate the potatoes because I was so hungry at the time and paid so much! I left everything else, I felt proper scammed! Photo is what I walked away and left!

29/09/2025: Got a Breast In A Bun from Barrack Street and it was really poor quality Chicken, it was similar to the cheap processed Chicken you get in a hot Chicken roll from a Deli.

27/09/2025: I love O’Reilly’s! But my recent order last night with pals was very disappointing. I’m always appreciative of their quality but not sure if it was a blip or new staff in training but the fish and chips - fish was bready.. almost soggy. No crisp at all. And not sure if its a branch price difference but the hake and chips - you’ve to pay extra for dip and peas?.. the one near kingsley or bandon they didn’t charge. It was just a bit surprising as well to see the other poor reviews. Hope they turnaround!

20/09/2025: Fast food, nothing interesting, standard for such eateries, not very aesthetic, you order, pay and eat, an ordinary cheap place, if you are hungry I recommend it 100%, you won't eat anything special here, an ordinary cheap option for this place and for those interested in it, I don't really recommend it
