04/05/2026: The venue was gorgeous and had an easy to navigate website. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed, eg kettle/tea, iron, hairdryer. The beds were too soft for 2 of my colleagues, so they didn’t sleep well at all, but I was fine. The staff were incredibly rude at check in and check out. Considering how much we paid for the room, I expected better customer service. We didn’t even get a smile at check in. The girl was rude, didn’t speak to me while processing my payment (not asking me to choose GBP or EU using her words, she just shoved the card reader in my face, even though I asked for clarification). Upon making the reservation, I notified the hotel that we would have a very late check in and even gave them an estimated time of arrival. The hotel called me the day before I left to confirm my reservation, so I clarified my late check in and assured them I’d be there before “late check in” started. As promised, I was well within my time frame, but received another phone call from the front desk during travel asking where I was and if I was going to be any longer. I was so confused, taken aback and really insulted. When we arrived, she didn’t apologies for her eagerness (which I can only assume was because she just wanted to go home, greet us warmly or even make me feel like we were welcome at all.

23/10/2025: Had such a great experience here today. Went in with my friend and we didn’t have much time & the waiter was THE BEST. We were only waiting 5 mins for a table and he served us immediately and got our coffee and food for us SUPER quick. He told us he was “determined that we make our lecture”. Great service! We meant to ask his name but we forgot! Great staff 👏

17/04/2026: I’ve been going to Hillbillies for more than 40 years. I have always thought it was best value for money and the food is delicious. It was our family favourite takeaway. Twice in the last few months we have got home to potions that were halved in size. The curry sauce halved and coleslaw halved in size. When we got home the half pot were not even full they were 3quarters full. The price is so expensive for the sauces and for the sizes they are. We got food tonight and paid over €30.00 for it. That’s no problem when we thought we knew what we were getting and to us it’s worth it. Not anymore! There was about 10 chips in a dinner box. The taco chips were half a box and it’s a smaller box now. Then we looked and there was not much meat either in the taco fries. It was so disappointing for a place we always loved to treat ourselves to. The quality is definitely not there now. We find it hard enough to get into the premises and it is normally worth making the trip through the disaster that is Mc Curtain street road works and no where to park. To come home to half potions was not something we were looking forward to. I was trying to ring to complain and got through to what sounded like a fax machine. So I had to write this instead. I was so annoyed. I was wondering do others find this as well. Update on this matter Hillbilly’s have improved since this review and now the sauces are back to the normal size and portions sizes are better. Still no parking and it is hard to get into the shop. A shop outside the city centre would help majority of people who aren’t able to get into the shop. Blackpool or Mayfield, Ballyvolane or Glanmire Update 16/04/2026 We called into get an early dinner today and we got the most amazing meal. It was piping hot and so fresh. I enjoyed my food so much. The whole meal was worth the money. The quality of the food and the service was of a very high standard. The guy who served us was so pleasant and very professional at his job. I bought some more food for my son, his girlfriend and my mam when leaving and they enjoyed their food also. Thank you for taking my review and working on what I suggested. I believe a great business does this very approach. Keep up the great work you do. We will be back.

24/12/2025: Awesome tacos and great drinks at Black Dog Tacos! One of the few places in town where you can get really good quality tacos — fresh, flavorful, and packed with tasty ingredients. The drinks are just as good, with a nice selection that goes perfectly with the food. The vibe is fun and relaxed, and the staff are welcoming. Definitely a go-to spot if you’re craving tacos and a great drink in Cork! 🌮🍹

03/02/2026: There are some vacancies. The hot chocolate and cappuccino are good quality. The espresso is bitter, perhaps over-roasted. Overall, it's a good place to relax and grab a bite. Prices are average for the area.

08/04/2026: It's ashame this pub is closing tonight because it is one of the nicest pubs in Cork City the food i had was perfect Heineken zero beautiful. Ok the service wasn't the best tonight but i guess that was to be expected with staff loosing there jobs. The pub was busy they were short staff. I really hope someone buys this pub. It has serious potential. Anytime i walked past this place it was busy it just needs to new ownership and management train new staff the food is perfect.

10/08/2025: Visited Route Fourteen with my family for lunch. The food was great, the dining area was spacious, but I have a few points I hope can be considered to improve the service. There were two lunch menus on our visit: one standard lunch menu (same as website) and one specific for the day or week. We ordered from the second menu since they seemed seasonal and more fresh than the regular menu. The prices were similar to other gastropubs around Cork City. I ordered pork belly with vegetables and mashed potatoes. The pork was stuffed with walnuts and dates, a stuffing I would have never thought would taste so nice with pork. Other dishes we had were the "Smash Burger" and Reuben sandwich. We ordered chicken wings with buffalo sauce for starters. Everybody enjoyed their orders but the beef in the Reuben would be better if it was not heated much. For dessert we had a mango and raspberry cheesecake and lemon meringue. Both were presented nicely and tasted amazing. They are best eaten between two people as they are large desserts. We were seated at a bright high table by the window, however we were near a large private booking and I felt a bit under pressure as the staff were setting the tables around us for the arriving diners. Given that the venue was not busy when we arrived, I would have preferred sitting further away from the large group booking. I would highly recommend visiting Route Fourteen on your next day out for lunch or dinner at a gastropub.

01/06/2026: A bit dated, but we were only there to sleep. The staff were always incredibly friendly, but the food in the restaurant was very mysterious, and the staff seemed overwhelmed and helpless for many people. Breakfast had everything you could need. Would gladly stay again.

31/05/2026: I cannot speak more highly of Vijay. He was so obliging with caring for our athletes staying in the the hotel. Supplied us with ice with no issue. We arrived back late & we were never felt unwelcome he was a very good host. He was managing the bar on his own & we were never made to feel nuisance.
