The best restaurants in Cork

09/11/2024: We are living locally so we often go for a drink and sometimes food. I have stayed one or twice but to be honest it does'nt live up to the 4 star rating. Tonight I went up around 8pm for some dinner after a long day at work. I ordered the chicken pesto pasta off the bar menu and when the dish came out there was actually no chicken in the dish so I called over a manager to highlight same. He asked if I wanted a new dish and I said no but thankfully I was'nt charged when I went to pay. He did'nt apologise but staff at the till did. Manager very ignorant. Also staff a bit dopey and very attentive to taking orders or getting the orders right.

10/09/2024: Small local cafe staff were brilliant super friendly which was obvious by the amount of regular customers there food was perfectly cooked and very reasonable 😀

16/08/2024: Customers breathing and ordering over the uncovered scones and biscuits. Not hygienic. Flat white was excellent.

03/10/2024: Food is great! Had ramen for lunch, downside, there is no vegetarian option for a ramen. It’s a small food court so no table service.

20/08/2024: We ordered California bowl and spicy tuna bowl,The food are very fresh, delicious, healthy and highly recommended!

13/10/2024: Haven't been here for over 20 years. Hasn't changed a bit but that's a good thing. Fine sized bar with mixed clientelle.

06/10/2024: Laura behind the bar is a credit to herself and the business. Her continuous banter/craic made the atmosphere very welcoming

20/10/2024: Late bar that's not very big, lots of sporting memorabilia with a good covered outdoor section. Couple of craft beers on tap

14/07/2024: Such great service, people here really take an interest and want you to enjoy what you eat - good vegan options, just ask! Had delicious pizza, great coffee after and felt really looked after. Update 07/2024: Vegan options basically non-existent now. Didn't feel great on my last visit, one option on the menu but that was unavailable. They did make an effort but it felt like I was putting them out. Sadly not as good as it was.

02/10/2024: Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, and nice evening sunshine on the front terrace!

13/09/2024: Had two of my friends come in here for their first pints. Not overly busy, lovely outdoor seating, inside has a lot of character and the fella at the bar's plenty friendly. Stouts are around €6 give or take a couple cent.

17/11/2024: We've been going here for years and recently came to use up a voucher. We haven’t been in a while and were shocked by the hefty price increases—around 23% across the menu in the last 11 months. The vegetarian ramen is now €16, and the chicken katsu curry a whopping €20.50. We understand the impact of inflation, high energy costs, and the end of tax relief, and we recognize that businesses must pass these costs onto customers. However, compared to countries like Italy, Germany, and Japan, the prices here seem unreasonable, and we’ve decided not to return. We just came back from a trip to Japan, where we paid a maximum of €8-max. 10€ for vegetarian ramen, €12 for pork ramen, and €10 for chicken katsu in the so-called "expensive" Japan. Prices included drinks.. As for the taste, we might have been spoiled by Japan, but the ramen lacked flavor and protein (it had two tiny pieces of tofu), though the curry sauce from the katsu was good, but the price just leaves a bitter taste. Service was fine. So overall, if you don’t mind paying absolutely astronomical prices for dinner, you’ll have a decent time. We’d rather save that money for a trip instead.

17/11/2024: Authentic Japanese cuisine in Cork. The udon dashi base soup has all the umami flavor you'd expect. The curry chicken udon is savory but the portion size is possibly smaller for the value. Sushi portions are decent and good value. They have all of the traditional dishes from noodle soups, fried yaki noodles, rice dishes, curry rice, bento box meals, and specials. Vegetable tempura portions could be better as far as portion to tempura batter.

08/10/2024: Favorite chip shop of mine over more than a decade of visiting Cork on occasion. With that said my last visit a few weeks ago ended up with them giving me the wrong order that I did not realize was the case until long away from the shop. Chicken supper instead of the Cod Supper that I ordered. It was still good but it sad that I didn't get one last Cod Supper before they shut down for good this past weekend.
