The best restaurants in Dublin

12/11/2025: Right next to the prestigious Trinity University is this unassuming café. Filled with students, researchers, the professor from the nearby university, you get the idea. So over the course of a cappuccino you can learn about the latest in space research or mathematics. All in the worst Stephen Hawking spirit. I had a ristretto and one was. Panini with cheese & ham. Perfetto! The coffee was as perfect as it can be, I have only had a sandwich as good in one place, namely café Sosta in Stockholm! Ambient jazz tones blared from the speakers, the rain was falling outside…

After googling this, it seems it's becoming a trend, well I'm not a fan of it... the young woman who asked us to pay didn't even look comfortable asking Staff were great and obviously just doing their job but I wouldn't go back solely for that reason

04/08/2025: Delicious ramens, relaxed and kind service. The decorations give a bit of a Japanese atmosphere. Excellent place, would recommend them from the bottom of my heart! Thank you very much! ♥️

27/07/2025: Sushi was good. However, Ramen did not taste nice, broth had no flavour, beef was not fresh. The waitress said she will tell the chef but no commercial gesture, nothing was done. Edit (Reply to owner): I did finish the broth as I hate wasting food and I was very hungry. However, please bear in mind the beef tasted almost rotten. No attempt was made by the staff to fix the issue. We will not be back. Your reply is unprofessional given the experience we had.

05/10/2025: We had a few beers and an Old Fashioned there. The staff were very friendly. Dalkey is generally a very nice place. Recommendation: buy the Leap Visitor Card for €18 for 3 days. This allows you to travel all over Dublin on public transport. 72 hours of freedom. Definitely worth it. We'll definitely be back to this pub.

17/11/2025: Shocking and unacceptable. I never write reviews but this needs to be shared. Unfortunately I somehow can’t upload the photos. I ordered boiled fish fillets with pickled cabbage and chili - what arrived was completely unacceptable. There was no fillet at all (literally none), but only a MASSIVE FISH HEAD with smeared EYEBALLS, TAIL, (lots of) SKIN, SPINE, and BONES. — The size of the head and tail alone shows what a substantial fish it could have been. I’ve eaten this dish many times elsewhere, so I know what it should be. This looks like leftovers or kitchen rubbish passed off as a meal. I don’t know what’s happening in the kitchen, but I cannot trust a restaurant that serves food like this.

14/11/2025: The food was quite good, especially the Hunan cuisine. The pickled fish was particularly delicious, and the broth was very rich.

31/08/2025: I ordered a takeaway from Veda on the evening of Saturday 2 August as I have done several times before. However I woke up twice later that night and was violently sick with food poisoning. I suspect the problem was the rice which was very dry when I received it and felt like it had been sitting around for a while. In any event I spent the next 2 days in bed which included missing a day off work. I emailed Veda on Sunday 3 August with no reply and then again on Tuesday 5 August - again no response. I called the restaurant on Friday 8 August and explained what had happened and was told I would receive a call back. In the absence of a call I phoned again on Wednesday 13 August and was again told I would be contacted. Finally I called again on Saturday 16 Augusta and spoke to the manager who told me he had spoken to the owners. The manager did not apologise for my food poisoning and indeed suggested it may not have been caused by Veda. I explained this could not have been the case as Veda was the only meal I had eaten in the 12 hours before I became ill. I had requested a refund of my meal which cost circa €32 and was offered a voucher for €20. This appears to be the standard offer which I note from the previous review submitted by Eimear Kelly. Unfortunately I will not be returning to Veda - partially due to the horrific food poisoning but also due to the very poor customer service I received after I was ill.

26/09/2025: Lovely little cafe with delicious coffee and sandwiches. Great value lunch meal with a really good variety of choices for a sandwiches. Highly recommend it

11/08/2025: Good pastries and coffee. Pleasant atmosphere and good service. Reasonable prices, something not very common in Dublin. I recommend it.

12/07/2025: Servicio rápido, lugar concurrido. La comida llegó rápido lo cual es bueno. El lugar podría mejorarse y actualizarse un poco los precios en línea. No lo llamaría "publicidad falsa", pero las diferencias de precio son muy notables. Buena idea si tienes prisa y buscas comer en el local o fuera.
