07/11/2024: Hemos cenado esta semana en Patrick Guilbaud y Capítulo Uno. Tomamos el foie gras salteado en Dax tonite, y créeme cuando te digo que podría haber sido un entrante en cualquiera de esos dos lugares Michelin estrella. Wow! Chef Grahah Neville puede no tener ninguna estrella Michelin (todavía) ... . pero este lugar es el verdadero negocio! Nos encantó su entrada principal de lomo de cerdo asado con repollo saboyano y jus de cerdo también. Bonitos bouches de diversión, gran pan! ¡El puré de patatas nos recordó a Joel Robuchon! Bonita carta de vinos a un precio razonable también, por copa o botella. Gran servicio. Si estás en Dublín y quieres una buena comida, prueba Dax... ¡por mucho menos que las dos estrellas! ¡No te decepcionarás! Bravo!

23/11/2024: Had the most amazing meal here last night. Very unassuming restaurant but there’s nothing nothing unassuming about the food. One of the best fish meals I’ve had in a long time. Couldn’t recommend Lá Cote enough.

29/12/2024: Incredibly good Food, Service and Atmosphere really recommend the Apple sponge for dessert it is delicious 🤤. The Live music is really nice and creates a great dining atmosphere the staff is friendly and accommodating.

30/11/2024: We really enjoyed our visit to Carrick and the Oarsman. The atmosphere downstairs was vibrant with lots of punters enjoying their weekend. We ate upstairs and it had the added bonus of a very talented gentleman playing an acoustic guitar. He played a wide range of instrumental tunes subtly in the background that had my foot tapping away during the meal. The staff were really friendly and on top of their game. Service was fast and they knew exactly who ordered what. Their home breads were delicious and so were all our starters, mains and desserts. The choice of wine and beer will suit all taste buds. Overall this is a really good gastro pub on top of its game and worth a visit if you are in the neighbourhood. We were a group of 8 and all of use said that we would be back. There was a group of 30, a number of couples and ourselves upstairs and everyone had a smile on their face and enjoying themselves. We are nearly an hour's drive from Carrick but it's worth the trip. Keep up the good work team Oarsman 👍

21/12/2024: Perfect experience in every way. Service was personable, attentive, and impeccable in every way. The food was transcendent and our server helped each member of our party choose the right entree and complement. This was a memorable vacation, and this was the ideal dinner for our last night together. I can't remember a better dining experience I've had in the last decade.

30/12/2024: Dropped in and had seafood chowder, without a shadow of a doubt, the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Really really nice, perfect temperature and lots of seafood in a creamy sauce with two pieces of sweet brown bread. Delicious

13/12/2024: What an enjoyable evening. From the moment we entered the restaurant, everything went ultra smoothly.. Service is impeccable. After an aperitif, pheasant soup with chestnuts was delicious and very savoury. My venison main wasn't perfectly cooked and our bottle of Italian red was a great match. Dessert was an apple Tarte tatin.. I had waited 5 years to visit this restaurant and it didn't disappoint. Company was excellent too.. All in all, a great evening..

07/12/2024: Starters for both: foie gras was excellent. Mains: fillet of beef and venison. Probably the best Fillet I have ever had. Partners venison was very good. Dessert: salted caramel parfait x2 and an Irish coffee. The parfait was excesively salted and a let down for the amazing food which had come before it. Presentation was also poor. Irish coffee was perfect. Staff were friendly and attentive, but not overly so.

12/01/2025: We enjoyed a really delightful evening at Chez Max last Thursday evening during the freezing cold spell. What a great, cosy atmosphere we found, matched by the excellent fare and really lovely service. For sure, one to revisit! Between the 3 of us, we savoured some really good, classic French dishes : Boeuf Bourgignonne, Soupe à l' Oignon 😋 All declared superb as well as our other dishes 👌

05/01/2025: I found a hair in my plate. The waitress changed it for another one, she was lovely. Once we were going to pay, they asked me if I wanted to pay separately or together. I said separately and they charged me all, another mistake, but it was ok. My complaint is for the blonde women (older staff) was very rude to us, with 0 customer service. I saw her attending the guys next to my table and she was horrible to them! I've been there good few times and I brought friends and family, but today was the last time. Never again. Now I can understand why there's always new staff. Horrible experience and very disappointing.

10/12/2024: Heard a lot about this establishment warm welcome lovely staff and this continued throughout food was lovely scallops steak and cheese selection for dessert. Wine exceptional !

08/12/2024: Had a very wonderful experience here. The staff were so friendly and attentive, the food was delicious, and they even had someone on the piano creating a cosy atmosphere with wonderful music. Though my steak was much undercooked inside, it and the pepper sauce were very tasty and the fries were generous!

04/12/2024: We visited your restaurant on Sunday evening. We were a bit wary of the small menu. But then we were very pleased. Small does not mean bad. On the contrary, the dishes are well prepared and balanced. The quiet cozy atmosphere is very suitable for a family dinner. Pleasant background music. But the waiters bring a special charm. Good work and attentiveness. But besides that, they are very creative. They also dance and sing. Simply delightful. Thank you for the evening and a special compliment. We hope to be able to come in the future.

24/12/2024: My go to place when it comes to amazing crepes. Everything is made fresh and they have a great variety for both savoury and sweet crepes. My go to for savoury is the La Provençale, and for the sweet option it’s the homemade salted caramel with banana and a scoop of ice cream-it’s always such a treat. They have pasties that are made fresh daily too. Coffee is stunning! The staffs are friendly and helpful to their customers. The place itself is on a good spot quite accessible for commuters for both buses and train although parking space is only limited I think to street parking.

17/12/2024: Not even the bread is vegan, so avoid if you’re thinking you having at least a sandwich. Service is poor, I get it English is not their mother tongue is so it was a bit difficult to get to understand each other, though they seem to not care at all about interacting with people. We are talking about vegan not gluten free options being totally absent from the menu, it should be a given these days since it is just a matter of choices and not about having a totally separate area altogether to handle vegan food, it’s enough to just state it on the menu. The place itself is nice, just a pity I could only get oat latte. Food on the pricey side, since reviews from my fellows at the table were good, just not extraordinarily good compared to the price.

01/11/2024: The food lived up to the hype, but the service and atmosphere were just not quite what we'd expected. The restaurant was as quiet as a library (and about as much fun as one)

30/10/2024: We have dined in this restaurant multiple times for lunch and always enjoy the food and service. On this occasion, we brought our young daughter with us. The pricing for lunch on Friday & Saturday is €60 per person and €70 on Sunday. I have no objection to this as there is more choice. However, charging a young child €55 (€5 less than Friday & Saturday adult prices) is ridiculous and serves no value for money. The ingredients used do not justify the price tag nor could a young child even have the appetite to finish such dishes. In the majority of Michelin restaurants, there are other singular options such as Pasta, Burger, Pizza etc and a much lower cost and commitment. As a restaurant, you should consider your pricing points for very young children, even though the food presented and the menu itself was appreciated by us and our daughter. €35-€40 should be the maximum pricing for such a menu.

11/01/2025: Cozy place for dinner, fast and friendly service and good French wine list. We ordered the onion soup as a starter, very rich and tasty and the gnocchi as the main, it was a mistake since it was too much food and we couldn't finish it In general everything is good but overpriced for the type of cuisine they offer (Almost €30 for gnocchi?)

03/01/2025: A fantastic atmosphere. Watching the cook prepare delicate dishes with a perfect combination of ingredients elevates the experience. The toast and sandwiches, as well as the roasted tomatoes-peppers soup, the coffee (interesting options such as the coconut mill mocha and a small canelé to close. The friendly staff who make a great effort to please to each client and they make you feel like a guest in their home. As extra information: You can reserve and it is worth it, since there are few tables. If you intend to bring a baby stroller, it is not the place.
