Dax
Dublin
31/10/2024: Outstanding food and excellent service at lunch -my wife has food /allergies and preferences that were not catered for in starter choices -asked for plain salad and instantly offered starter of heritage tomato /mozzarella from dinner menu.
Food was uniformly good I had stuffed courgette flower with lobster/prawn mousse -worth every penny of 6.59 supplement !
We will be back !
27/10/2024: An Unparalleled Experience of Elegance and Excellence
DAX Restaurant is simply exceptional. Refined and elegant, this venue truly embodies culinary excellence. Every detail is meticulously curated, making the experience far more than just a meal.
The entire staff was outstanding, but a special thank you goes to Massimo, our waiter, who elevated our evening to unforgettable heights. With exceptional professionalism, he guided us through a culinary journey, pairing exquisite dishes with wines from across Europe. The foie gras was, without a doubt, the best I have ever tasted.
Heartfelt thanks to Massimo and the whole DAX team for making our anniversary a treasured memory. Highly recommended to anyone seeking the best!

La Côte
Wexford
27/10/2024: Unbelievably good food and great and friendly service on a very busy night. It was friendly, a great menu and fun. The hake was outstanding, and the plate of cheese, which we shared, had all the cheeses in absolutely perfect condition. Terrific!
27/10/2024: I don’t often leave reviews, but after my visit to La Cote on Friday, I felt compelled to share my experience. I was genuinely surprised by the level of unprofessionalism displayed by what appeared to be the restaurant manager. I personally witnessed this staff member drinking a glass of wine while on duty, which struck me as not only inappropriate and disrespectful to guests but also a clear health and safety violation. For a restaurant of this calibre, such behavior is both unexpected and concerning. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses this issue moving forward.

Pearl Brasserie
Dublin
07/11/2024: Small intimate rooms plus a charming team of French ladies providing service and add to this beautifully prepared food and you have a superb dining experience.
My wife and I went here for lunch. We each had just a main course but both were faultless: she roast chicken (how do the French do this SO well?) and I a lovely portion of bream fish. From their excellent wine list we chose just to have a glass of one of their house Chardonnays and it too was great. At 95 euros it wasn't inexpensive, but you do get what you pay for and we felt that all things considered it was fair value.
And the best measure of a good experience: we would go back in a heartbeat!
05/11/2024: Ate here, and the atmosphere alone was enough to give 5 stars, then the food and service were exceptionally great. Next time we are in Dublin, we plan on making g reservations here again and not try something new.

07/11/2024: This pub has always a good gig during Jazz festival. My second year there and enjoyed it a lot

02/11/2024: Got the traditional Brittany pancakes, they were tasty and so fast to arrive! The place has a great atmosphere, but I’d say the highlight would be the waitress called Romane, she was very friendly and kind. I will definitely be going back!
20/10/2024: Popped in for two vanilla lattes. Lovely ladies behind the counter, fast and easy service. Fantastic coffee, made with care and reasonably priced, plus we got a little chocolate with it. 10/10 best coffee in Loughrea.

27/10/2024: Worthy of the ratings great good and service a well delivered and thoughtful menu
09/10/2024: The food was nice, but the portions were very small. Staff were friendly but a little overly attentive. The price was a little over the top I was expecting the decor in this place to be top notch it was only ok, seats where not overly comfortable. Overall the experience was OK we had fun the night was made us having a laugh

The Bishop's Buttery

01/11/2024: The food lived up to the hype, but the service and atmosphere were just not quite what we'd expected. The restaurant was as quiet as a library (and about as much fun as one)
30/10/2024: We have dined in this restaurant multiple times for lunch and always enjoy the food and service. On this occasion, we brought our young daughter with us. The pricing for lunch on Friday & Saturday is €60 per person and €70 on Sunday. I have no objection to this as there is more choice. However, charging a young child €55 (€5 less than Friday & Saturday adult prices) is ridiculous and serves no value for money. The ingredients used do not justify the price tag nor could a young child even have the appetite to finish such dishes. In the majority of Michelin restaurants, there are other singular options such as Pasta, Burger, Pizza etc and a much lower cost and commitment. As a restaurant, you should consider your pricing points for very young children, even though the food presented and the menu itself was appreciated by us and our daughter. €35-€40 should be the maximum pricing for such a menu.

Chez Max
Dublin
14/11/2024: During the Summer, we had a wonderful experience in my favourite French style Bistro, Chez Max. We were impressed with everything from start to finish. On arrival, we were warmly greeted by friendly staff and service was prompt and efficient. The dining area is both cosy and inviting and the food is superb. I thoroughly enjoyed French onion soup, Rib Eye steak and Creme Brulee but there is a dish for every taste.
Attention is paid to even the smallest of details and we left both satisfied and content. We will most definitely return again very soon.
12/11/2024: Such an amazing experience and food at Chez Mix. Beautiful atmosphere.

l'Gueuleton
Dublin
07/11/2024: French Irish place with the best of both worlds
Imagine French cuisine but without French service or hautainesse and think Irish cuisine but with a bit more French ingredients and subtleties and youngster l’Geuleton
We went for brunch on a Saturday and were surprised it wasn’t more packed, all the dishes were great same for drinks and atmosphere
Again imagine an Irish pub with Irish waiters except it serves food from the French coast except the size portions are Irish again
02/11/2024: I recently visited Igueuleton to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance, perfect for special occasions, and most of the staff seemed friendly at first. However, my experience with the food and service left much to be desired.
I ordered the gnocchi, and unfortunately, it was inedible due to an overwhelming amount of salt. Mistakes happen, and I understand that, but what was disappointing was the lack of follow-up. After serving our dishes, the waiter never returned to check if we were satisfied. As my friends finished eating, my untouched plate sat in front of me, clearly signaling a problem. When the waiter finally came to clear our plates, they didn’t ask about my full, uneaten dish or whether anything was wrong.
Paying 27 euros for a dish I couldn’t eat felt frustrating, especially without the opportunity to address the issue. I’d suggest that the staff receive additional training on customer service, as it seemed they weren’t attentive to guests' dining experiences. A simple check-in would have allowed the restaurant a chance to make amends, but unfortunately, they missed the opportunity. Overall, I left feeling disappointed and unlikely to return.

Captain House Restaurant

31/10/2024: The food here was delicious. The service was brilliant and we were given just the right amount of time between courses and also at the end of our meal to feel comfortable. The steak and sea bass dishes were excellent and the creme brulee couldn't be missed!
30/10/2024: Best meal we’ve ever had!!! This is a hidden gem, we’re from London with family in Ireland who recommended this. Food exquisite, service fantastic and the owners (head of service) and chef were sensational. We will be back! Thanks so much

Le Petit Breton
Dublin
04/11/2024: A nice surprise to find an actual French menu.
20/10/2024: I went here recently with my special needs class and it was fantastic. I let the staff know we were coming the next morning and as we were group of about 14. They had arranged the tables to facilitate us. The café itself is very small so I really appreciated that they had prepared for us.
The menu is really good and the crepes with just sugar or chocolate are under 10 euros which is great for children who aren't spending too much. The staff were super friendly and patient with my students so they had really nice experience. The food is excellent.
It's a very small café so it isn't really wheelchair accessible and it has a step to get into the café. The toilet is down a stairs. Honestly it would be great if it was a little more wheelchair friendly as my class had such a wonderful French breakfast. Thanks for the experience.

Wild and Native

09/11/2024: Today I was very disappointed with this restaurant, as I already had an experience and it was pleasant in that it led me to return, but what was my surprise when I arrived at 8:55 pm asking for a table for two people, when I was refused because they were going to close when the closing time is 22:00, I felt that it was a unwillingness to serve as it was not crowded, there were lots of empty tables, in a place where reservations cannot be made and where I arrived 1 hour before closing and still having made a 50-minute journey minutes and go back, it will certainly be a restaurant not to return to.
19/10/2024: Just had my first pizza from Wild and Native. Wow, can you taste the difference when an award winning chef turns his hand to 'fast food'. Those extra touches make a huge difference.
Well done Fergal.

Rouge
Galway
11/11/2024: Mediocre to say the least. One of our party wanted to add the side of mushrooms and onions, kitchen was out - this is quite literally something I have never heard of. The "amuse bouche" was forgettable, some cold balls of what appeared to be mashed potato, mushrooms also cold, cold mini steak kebabs (enough with the steak) and a rather sad vegetable kebab. My partner said his steak was too well done. My dish of bean cassoulet was acceptable. Our tablemates passed little comment on their own dishes. Restaurant was crowded and very noisy, diners competing with a crooning pianist. The waiters were very pleasant.
The dessert of creme brulee did somewhat take away the sour taste. 2 of the desserts (the only two chocolate options) were unavailable.
Overall underwhelming, wouldn't recommend. If you're going to offer a very limited menu, you need to have everything available and on point.
10/11/2024: I so wanted to love our night. It was a special occasion and a long time since we had been to Rouge Restaurant. I had made my original booking for 8pm but unfortunately they had no table for this time. So we were given a 9pm option which we accepted.
We were not seated till 9.30. Our table was lovely however. The menu was straightforward, amuse bouche followed by either a fish dish, a choice of two steaks or vegetarian option.
We had two drinks to start whilst waiting, a kir and G&T.
The waiter was pleasant and informed us that the fillet steak was no longer available nor was our choice of wine!
I understand that chefs can run out of certain meats as the night goes on, but to be fair the whole point of rouge is to have a simple menu and have plenty of that meat to satisfy your LATER BOOKINGS!! And we expected top quality meat which it wasn't. Tough, chewy and tasteless is best decribed on both our cuts of meat. The side dishes were very poor, garlic potato, veg ratatouille ( which was cold)) and chips.
We were so very dissapointed. We love a great restaurant and Rouge had been one of our favourites on the past!!
Our bill was €136. And wasn't worth it.
