24/01/2026: A really excellent lunch at Dax in the heart of Dublin city centre. From start to finish, everything felt thoughtful, calm and effortlessly professional. I began with the beef tartare, which was beautifully fresh and perfectly balanced — classic flavours done with confidence. The fish of the day was outstanding, cooked exactly right and served with clean, seasonal accompaniments that let the quality of the ingredients shine. Dessert was the lemon tart, sharp, light and refreshing, a great way to finish. Service was warm, attentive and genuinely welcoming -we were very well looked after without ever feeling rushed. Dax continues to live up to its reputation for fine food and consistency. A fantastic spot for lunch, and one we’ll definitely return to.

23/12/2025: Stunning restaurant. Group Christmas lunch but you wouldn’t know it from the quality of the food. Great selection and large generous portions. Excellent Christmas cheer atmosphere and superb service. Highly recommend.

15/02/2026: We were sat at the counter (it was totally fine with us) and our waiter was so nice and wanted to seat us at a table. It truly made us felt taken care of. We were sat really close to the bar so we could see the barman work which was great. All of the staff was friendly (most of them are French so I loved being able to speak with them) we discussed with the barman (also very friendly !) The cocktail I had was delicious and all of the food was as well. The quality justifies the price ! Everything was absolutely perfect.

06/02/2026: We had to order the fish as they were out of what we wanted, which honestly I don't mind as tends to mean the food is bought in fresh daily. The fish was honestly fantastic and we were glad we had it. The restrant is nice a little loud but if you like a little atmosphere this won't be a bother. Very happy to recommend the price is very reasonable for the little touches and the quality.

06/01/2026: I don’t usually leave reviews, but this pub really felt like it needed one. There were three of us dining. My boyfriend ordered the special of the day: thinly sliced beef that was unfortunately overcooked and tasted quite cheap, roast potatoes that were so soft they could easily have been mistaken for mash, and gravy that tasted like it came straight from granules you’d buy at Tesco. I didn’t end up paying for the special. My mother had the chowder. While the flavour was acceptable, the texture suggested it may have been thickened with flour, which wasn’t very pleasant. Unfortunately, the next day she became quite unwell and suffered from diarrhoea, which was very concerning. I ordered the shrimp with garlic toast, but the shrimp were overdone and the garlic bread had no real garlic flavour at all. I also had the BBQ pork belly, which was the only dish that genuinely made the meal worthwhile—it was well cooked and enjoyable. On a positive note, the atmosphere was nice and the waitress was friendly and attentive. I really hope a manager sees this review and considers making some significant changes, as this place has potential but the food quality needs serious improvement.

05/01/2026: We had an amazing lunch today. Food was one of the best we have experienced for long time in Cork. He had chicken burger, he was very impressed and as a chef he said without a doubt 9 out of 10 !!! I had goat cheese salad and gosh it kept me full for the rest of the day, ingredients were fresh, high quality, 9 out of 10!!! Desserts OMG, the crème brülèe and cheesecake, so delicious 😋 And extra points for presentation, touch of art!!! Staff were friendly and welcoming and place looks really outstanding, pure Irish pub vibe ❤️ We sure return 🤟

11/11/2025: Great establishment, variety of breakfast/brunch options, and everything is well-made. Customer service is always excellent. Used to go more often with the previous menu that you could make your own breakfast, but still is a great brunch spot.

22/02/2026: Lovely authentic French restaurant. Limited menu offering fish of the day, duck, striploin steak or fillet of beef. If cooked rare, it is very bloody. If well done, it can be cinderised. Medium is a good option. Steak tasty, if a little chewy. Other dishes were nice. The starters in particular were particularly delicious, as were the desserts. Piano was playing in the background over a lot of chatter. Very attentive service from an international staff. Our lovely waitress was from Brittany. Great night overall. Popular and busy. It is important to book. Ideal for that special occasion. Merci à tour!

04/01/2026: Have been coming here most weeks the last few years as my kids like the crepes but prices have gone up again, Nutella crepes used to be €6.50 then increased to €7 in 2025 but the other day we were charged €8 each to take them away! Perhaps justified for dining in as you’re using plates, cutlery, getting table service etc but not to take away. Disappointing.

31/12/2025: Very disappointed with this place. Food took almost 25min to arrive and when it did it was not very good, won't be going back.

17/09/2025: We had the best experience last Sunday evening ! The staff were excellent even though we were late because of the cannonball run , the girl on the desk put us at ease immediately- she was just the nicest! The meal / steaks were fantastic- cooked to perfection! Thank you guys we enjoyed our evening with you and hopefully visit really soon again 🙌

21/09/2025: Definitely recommend having food here if you're staying in Brooklodge, or just looking for somewhere to eat in the area. We ordered a pizza and the beef ragu. To say the pizza base was perfect is an understatement. The ragu was lovely as well, and the mixed leaf salad we got with our order - I would go back again just to eat that salad again..........yes..........a salad. Can't wait to eat here again.
