23/12/2025: Stunning restaurant. Group Christmas lunch but you wouldn’t know it from the quality of the food. Great selection and large generous portions. Excellent Christmas cheer atmosphere and superb service. Highly recommend.

11/01/2026: A Hidden gem, by Dublin Castle. French by name, french by nature. I enjoyed a delicious flame grilled Ribbye, which came with very tasty thin fries and an exceptional jus on the side. Dining partner had the main size portion of Moules Frites. While they were tasty, the mussels were too small. This is a universal issue in Ireland now, not just at Chez Max. I really believe that if Irish restaurants cannot source nice plump mussels, then they should not have them on the menu. At chez Max, the addition of some bread to mop up the creamy broth would be a nice touch. Overall, a lovely café/restaurant, with great menu and attentive staff. Will return soon

28/11/2025: Cozy place of about 15 tables. Early-Bird and 2 additional seatings. Very small staff that hustles. The flavors on all dishes were spot on. My rare+1 steak was exactly that. The prefix makes it easy, but you can ala-cart if you insist. Beer and wine was available, 4 pages of the menu. As a critic? The exploded spring roll doesn't make sense. The genius of a spring roll is the mix of flavor in each bite. Same with the deconstructed dessert. Why make pie hard to eat? Enjoyable place solo or couples.

21/11/2025: Amazing seafood. The monkfish was delicious with a squid ink bulgar and lots of interesting accompaniments and my wife had a lovely citrusy lemon sole. Will be back. Thanks guys

21/09/2025: Great night, food was fantastic. Calamari for starters and the burger for mains. One if the nicest burgers I have had in a long time. Handmade and seasoned in house. Delicious. Staff excellent, very friendly and up for the banter. Highly recommend, we will be back

06/01/2026: I don’t usually leave reviews, but this pub really felt like it needed one. There were three of us dining. My boyfriend ordered the special of the day: thinly sliced beef that was unfortunately overcooked and tasted quite cheap, roast potatoes that were so soft they could easily have been mistaken for mash, and gravy that tasted like it came straight from granules you’d buy at Tesco. I didn’t end up paying for the special. My mother had the chowder. While the flavour was acceptable, the texture suggested it may have been thickened with flour, which wasn’t very pleasant. Unfortunately, the next day she became quite unwell and suffered from diarrhoea, which was very concerning. I ordered the shrimp with garlic toast, but the shrimp were overdone and the garlic bread had no real garlic flavour at all. I also had the BBQ pork belly, which was the only dish that genuinely made the meal worthwhile—it was well cooked and enjoyable. On a positive note, the atmosphere was nice and the waitress was friendly and attentive. I really hope a manager sees this review and considers making some significant changes, as this place has potential but the food quality needs serious improvement.

05/01/2026: We had an amazing lunch today. Food was one of the best we have experienced for long time in Cork. He had chicken burger, he was very impressed and as a chef he said without a doubt 9 out of 10 !!! I had goat cheese salad and gosh it kept me full for the rest of the day, ingredients were fresh, high quality, 9 out of 10!!! Desserts OMG, the crème brülèe and cheesecake, so delicious 😋 And extra points for presentation, touch of art!!! Staff were friendly and welcoming and place looks really outstanding, pure Irish pub vibe ❤️ We sure return 🤟

11/11/2025: Great establishment, variety of breakfast/brunch options, and everything is well-made. Customer service is always excellent. Used to go more often with the previous menu that you could make your own breakfast, but still is a great brunch spot.

31/10/2025: Restaurant was empty, starter, side and sauce was good, steak was terrible, fat not rendered, unseasoned and inedbile at times, i left half of the steak on the plate as was too chewy. Mentioned to the waitress and then witnessed the waitresses and the chefs have a very abrupt discussion about our comments and heard we do not give discount. For €100+ not worth it

04/01/2026: Have been coming here most weeks the last few years as my kids like the crepes but prices have gone up again, Nutella crepes used to be €6.50 then increased to €7 in 2025 but the other day we were charged €8 each to take them away! Perhaps justified for dining in as you’re using plates, cutlery, getting table service etc but not to take away. Disappointing.

31/12/2025: Very disappointed with this place. Food took almost 25min to arrive and when it did it was not very good, won't be going back.

The staff were excellent even though we were late because of the cannonball run , the girl on the desk put us at ease immediately- she was just the nicest! The meal / steaks were fantastic- cooked to perfection! Thank you guys we enjoyed our evening with you and hopefully visit really soon again 🙌

21/10/2025: Great little eatery, offering wide selection of drinks, snacks, brunch etc. Very eco friendly. Staff pleasent, friendly and attentive. Had the soup and toasty, which was a very good deal. Worth seeking out if you're local or tourist alike. Also dog friendly.

31/12/2025: This charming coffee shop in Drumcondra, not only has the smoothest local coffee, but, also a great range of French treats that make great gifts.

24/12/2025: I was in there this morning the staff were really helpful. The man helped me put the food in a bag , he was very polite . The coffee is amazing.
