14/02/2026: Fantastic ♥️ thank you for delicious food and great service. Especially Lian ( I am not sure about correct spelling, sorry). All staff were amazing and friendly. Definitely we will be back soon. Despite the full seating we were always served and had delicious food on our table.

26/01/2026: From the moment we arrived we were treated with elegance and professionalism. Richard saw to our luggage, showed us to our rooms, and explained everything to us. Rita checked us in and went out of her way to accommodate our sleeping arrangements. The entire experience was so refreshing and beautiful. Highly recommend Dromoland Castle.

15/02/2026: Popped in on a Wednesday night in dark damp January. Nice open fire. Thought the kitchen may be closed but ordered and ate two decent fish and chips. Tartar sauce was a bit weird, sort of a chemical taste but otherwise fine. Guinness was good, and a good price. Look forward to coming back when the place is in full swing.

29/10/2025: Charming restaurant with delicious food. I was there at the end of July with my mother staying within walking distance of the restaurant, and it was one of the best meals we had during our 5 day trip in Ireland.

07/01/2026: Ordered the steak with a couple of beers to wash it down. Steak arrived fairly quick and cooked to perfection. Sides and sauce were delicious and well presented. More than enough food on the plate and the live music will a reasonably full pub made for a very good atmosphere. Great night

09/02/2026: We stopped here on February bank holiday weekend and am I glad that we did! Smoked salmon and Gouda Mac & cheese was a religious experience. Beef and chicken burgers came with tasty fries, dipping sauce and possibly the best onion rings I’ve ever had. All served with a smile and a warm welcome. Will definitely return sooner rather than later!

01/02/2026: Cosy pub with great cooking, lovely service and good beer. Music from 9pm. We chose from the specials board and had a really good meal. Welcome was friendly and the Burren beers are brewed locally. Feels like an old fashioned pub, with a local feel, where visitors are made welcome.

02/02/2026: We went for dinner, the food is very good but honestly the price is higher than the quality-to-quantity ratio. I imagine you're paying for the location and the views. The fish burger, given the description and price, is expected to be more spectacular, but it's very good, as is the fish and chips. The staff is very friendly and the place is beautiful.

01/02/2026: We had an overwhelmingly positive experience at Monks. Fabulous rooms, clean and modern. King size beds with comfortable mattresses guarantee a good nights sleep. The location is amazing and the hotel has views across the harbour from the rooms and the bar/ restaurant. The staff gave us a warm welcome and all were very helpful during our stay. The restaurant was equally fabulous, it is head and shoulders above any of the others in the locality. We come to this area often due to family commitments, going forward we will only stay at Monks availability permitting.

13/01/2026: If you find yourself in Doolin this is a great place to stop in for tasty pub food and a pint (or more - but heed the warning on the door). Law enforcement, bring your patches, they are posted throughout from all over the world. Enjoy!

Emily (in a tight blue blouse and blonde hair) rushed us, spoke sharply, and then handed me a container to pack my own main, when I asked can I take it home. which felt downright rude and unprofessional. Definitely not the level of service I expected. Do better.

04/12/2025: Went here for food and drinks on a trip shortly after getting married this summer. The food and service were incredible. We loved every moment of it. When we told them we'd just gotten married, they gave us a free drink. So generous. Will be back every time in the area.

30/11/2025: Great experience, we were 3 people and all tried Irish Stew and it was really delicious and big portions. Everything was great, including the staff.

30/01/2026: "A hidden gem in Co. Clare! The Half Barrel offers a wonderful atmosphere with some of the best homemade food I've had in a long time. The portions are huge, and the value for money is excellent. The staff are incredibly welcoming and professional, making us feel right at home. Great service and a lovely local feel—highly recommended!"

06/01/2026: Not before time am I writing this review. Go there most Saturdays with my friend and have never been disappointed. Steak sandwiche and chips are absolutely delicious. The excellent staff are amongst the best i have encountered. 100% recommend that people try this marvellous place.
