04/07/2025: Wanted to be able to give this place a better rating because it is so well reviewed on here. Was pretty poor. Took us 20 minutes to get 2 coffees and then waited a further 10 for food. It’s so packed you feel like you’re sat on the lap of the next person. Omelette was alright but not worth the price. I’m usually optimistic about places but wouldn’t want someone seeing the great reviews and expecting something amazing. It’s below average.

26/05/2025: This restaurant is always packed for good reason! Make a reservation to avoid being disappointed, they have very limited seated. We shared the scallop and pork belly starter- amazing! Portion size is meant for one person, but it was a good taster for both of us. The lamb and short rib entrees were delicious! Would definitely come back again!

05/06/2025: One of my very favourite restaurants, I was there at the tasting menu this week (first Tuesday of every month) Irish Wagyu beef, stuffed courgette flowers, prawn and lobster donut! So creative, as beautiful as it is delicious, but still a really relaxed and friendly atmosphere- great value for such food- thanks Russell, Dave, Ava & team!

02/06/2025: Beautiful surroundings, very friendly staff. I give ten stars for the coffee, the coffee is simply delicious. The food is very nice to look at. I recommend the crab sandwich. The onion rigs are absolutely amazing. If you are in Dalkey, come for breakfast/lunch.

16/06/2025: I have been coming to Schoolhouse for many years, and always come back. Rooms are nice and cozy and I love the fact that they are named after Irish writers. The pub/restaurant is wonderful with helpful and friendly staff, I never miss their fish goujons and their house salad with a good glass of red wine! Even better, if in the garden!

15/06/2025: A Beautiful Experience – Exceptional Service and Atmosphere We recently hosted our civil ceremony dinner at the Schoolhouse and also arranged guest accommodation—and we couldn't be happier with the experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and professional. The dinner was beautifully set up, the food was delicious and received so many compliments from our guests, and the atmosphere was just perfect—elegant yet relaxed. The guest rooms were equally impressive: charming, comfortable, and spotless. Everyone felt very well looked after, and the whole experience ran smoothly from start to finish. We’re so grateful to the entire team for making our special day even more memorable. Highly recommended for anyone planning an event or simply looking for a great place to stay in Dublin!

06/07/2025: The Guinness yesterday was the best I've had in years

10/07/2025: Great choice of drinks with own brewed beers. Guinness beef stew had such an amazing taste and the seafood chowder was equally good. The live music added to the atmosphere and the staff were very attentive and friendly. Right on the edge of Temple so not too busy. Will be back here.

10/07/2025: You have to ask the waiter yourself about the queue and waiting time. Some of the waiters are very friendly, while some seem to have a hard life. The food looks ordinary but is very delicious. The Irish stew is amazing. I saw the fish and chips ordered by the next table. The portion is very large and I heard it is delicious too.

06/07/2025: Excellent dinner here recently. The focaccia starter was delicious, as was the beef and Guinness pie (pictured). Quiet and upscale vibes with elevated pub food and wonderful service.

30/06/2025: I hate to write this review but feel it was warranted based on our recent experience. We have been wanting to go legal eagle Sunday roast for a while based on different reviews. Finally we were in the area and stopped by. Overall it was a bad experience. The roast was €27 for beef which is a lot higher than most roasts in the area. Which I’d be fine paying if the roast was amazing but that wasn’t the case. The meat was extremely thin slices of beef and cooked to the point I could event cut the beef. Our table didn’t recent even a steak knife so it was very difficult to eat. Also, we didn’t receive any side gravy and there was barely on the plate. Also it was mainly big roasted potatoes that were fairly dry with a little bit of mash and stuffing. I really was hoping this would be a new Sunday roast spot but this was just a bad experience.

21/06/2025: Traditional Irish pub full of character . Excellent service, prices the norm for city centre pub. Much bigger than it looks with plenty of interesting momentos on the walls. If in the area highly recommend a visit. A very busy pub

09/07/2025: Fantastic pub in temple bar area without the mad prices. Also serve their own craft beers. Their Clockwork stout is better than Guinness.

04/07/2025: I saw the summer special for fish and chips and a glass of cava for €26 and decided to try it. The service from when we got there was great. We placed our order and the food was out in under 10 minutes. 2 cods were on the plate but I’d say the star of the dish was the tartar sauce never had anything like it and the fish was super crispy. 10/10 would recommend and the cava pairing worked really well!

23/06/2025: Came in on Friday with a small dog and the team were so accommodating! Delicious wine and fantastic staff
