The best restaurantsof irish in Dublin

17/03/2024: Disappointed with our meal and service here . Breads and starters fab but main courses mediocre. I had the special Iberian pork ... so fatty and rare , really disappointed . Waiter agreed when he took my plate but nothing reflected in the bill . Chicken parmigiana was ok . Monk fish good . Anytime we asked for water refills we had to asked 2 or 3 times .

13/03/2024: We had dinner at Peploe’s on a recent visit to Dublin. It was one of the best meals we’ve had in a very long time. The food was outstanding, as was the service. The restaurant itself has a lovely ambience. We were perhaps lucky that we visited on a quiet(ish) evening, so had plenty of space and the noise levels were modest. With that as the only caveat, I would recommend very highly.

04/04/2024: Excellent setting, food lovely, staff extremely helpful..But the noise levels at lunchtime ,you couldn't hear what was said to you..A member of the staff felt the same way..

28/03/2024: Went on Tuesday 26th with my partner and my 89 year old mother .The place was fairly busy we sat in the waiting area but thankfully were seated within ten mins .When seated I did notice 3 large empty tables behind a seating area needed clearing. People still waiting to be seated . The waitress was lovely she took out order and was friendly. We did ask however for the air-conditioning to be turned down as it was quite chilly under it and that never happened . I ordered scampi and 2 x chicken clucker dishes which is chicken breast burger. We ordered and received drinks quick enough . Then we waited ,and waited and waited .After 40 mins waiting I asked the acting supervisor as she passed our table could she check the order .On her return we were informed curtly with no apology that the chicken takes a long time to cook !!!!!!, It was breast chicken coated and I image pre prepped.When the order eventually arrived I noticed my scampi was deep fried extreamly over cooked and the batter was rock hard . When I cut into it it was not scampie but large king prawns which where rubbery and totally over cooked . The same with the chicken dishes.Over cooked and chicken was dry inside We were extremely hungry especially my mam . I did notice that the waiting staff was only ,3 girls so not enough staff or kitchen staff to accommodate the amount of people .I know it was lunch time and busy but I still expect nice food even after a 40 long wait for food We used to go all the time however will be a while before I go again.The waiting staff where lovely with the exception of the supervisor/ manageress who looks like she hated her job.no smile no apology just a blank who cares look on her face .... .Hook and ladder need to go back to the way it was when it opened first great food great staff not so long a wait especially as they changed menus to easy quick dishes I'd rate it 2 stars at a push . 25/03/2024: A great spot for a quick pint. Staff are nice and prices are reasonable. Eileen liked her Guinness, so you'll have to ask her.

30/01/2024: Very lovely bar. Fulfilled all wishes. Only funny disapointment, we ordered so much for 2 person that the waitress couldnt remember everything, and after the third time she came to ask what we ordered she disapeared to never come back and we had to call for another waitress

16/01/2024: Called in to meet a friend for a pint and chips, service/barman was perfect and the Guinness was even better. Homemade chips were great too. Lovely and warm with a great atmosphere considering it’s 2 degrees outside today. Will definitely be back!

27/03/2024: I love the Castle. It and the bar area are lovely to look at and sit in. High elaborate ceiling, huge fireplaces etc but I also know that the service will always be slow, at the bar and table, and the food will be hit and miss. Buttermilk Tandoori Chicken Flatbread - the chicken was really lovely, mango tarka also lovely, the flatbreads were too blackened and the slaw not my favourite, felt like there was no dip or sauce to bring it all together. Portion size was good, because of slowness in service one of my friends who arrived late shared it with me rather than wait 30+ mins. And there was enough 2. Warm chocolate fondant, looked lovely tasted ok. Service is not bad, staff are nice but always the whole thing just runs slowly. Wine was lovely and I didnt see list, but my friend did say there weren't many options under the €45 we paid per bottle.

31/03/2024: Went for dinner. Chairs and tables where not comfortable to eat at. Got the baked Cod. I don't recommend it. It was under cooked so I couldn't eat it. The plate was dirty. When we gave it back they just wiped the sauce off the bottom. Some sort of curry sauce all over the bottom of it. Ordered a drink that didn't show up.

30/03/2024: Lovely place but.. I ordered Baked code but I felt it was boiled and undercooked. And I don't understand why you will put chorizo with fish like it is not working together at all 😭 I ordered a glass of wine when my food arrived and it never came. Nobody was around for 30 minutes to ask for drinks or if food was Okay. The place is lovely but the service and food I had was not great. The rest of the family looked like lovely food. We also rang to reserve a nice table in advance and was told that we don't have to and we can just walk..when we arrived today we couldn't sit at a table we wanted because it was reserved.

24/03/2024: A very cozy place. The soup is super delicious, like it was freshly made and full of fish, mollusks... the plate seems small but it is quite filling. We accompanied it with squid rings and a side salad. Two non-alcoholic drinks. They sat us at the high table, it is comfortable. For wheelchairs there are lower tables. There is a fairly large terrace.

29/03/2024: I was there twice for a drinks! First time was there for a stout a young and beautiful waitress served a pint of Stout with a killer smile I can't forget that so went there again the second time but she wasn't there probably off anyway another waitress served I was biting a cigar on my mouth she ask of you need a lighter etc just feel good! maybe will be back someday for food! behind the bar got ample space for car park and vaping area wonderful atmosphere next to botanical garden river at the back! Nice!!!

09/02/2024: Actually laois won the all ireland county final on the 25th of April in 1915 so put that in your pipe and smoke it.
