20/06/2025: Great stay in a historic location. Our room was comfortable. Staff was friendly and welcoming. The owner has a nightly welcome event in the on-site pub where he details the history of the castle. He is a convivial host and he take pictures of the guests which he presents as keepsakes at dinner. Very enjoyable. The owner is a friendly guy; however, it felt like his friendliness was more performative with us than others, which took some of the fun out of it for me. I guess we were too old and not pretty enough to be fascinating like the younger group of Canadians he seemed to fixate on.

01/07/2025: 2yrs ago I visited Weavers and had scone&coffee and as I had eaten dinner there 3 times in few months and wasn't impressed, I decided never again.... So two years later...On end june 2025, myself and a friend called in for dinner and the place looked lovely and more cosy, the staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful as they always are and the food was delicious. I had beef stroganoff with rice&chips and my friend had beef with gravy, chips&salad. (Chips here are moreish) Both dinners were Yum! We then ordered chocolate cake,icecream,cream and tiramisu,icecream,cream and coffee. Both again were delicious. Really delighted that Weavers have upped their game and I will be meeting more friends there soon.

10/07/2025: Amazing pub in a small village. The interior is very cozy and traditional. All the food we tried from beef, vegetarian and sea food was just great and even the desert. My friend who usually doesn't eat sea food was so happy about the meal, he smiled for the whole day.

02/07/2025: Everything about the place was great. Barman was lovely food was lovely but it was the smallest fish and chips I've ever had. Couldn't be going back with a portion that size and not cheap. 24 euro for a fish and chips.

14/07/2025: We were very disappointed with our experience at the. Misunderstood heron on Saturday evening. Our first impression was that it was extremely noisy. It seemed to be mostly drinkers and not so many eating. We were shown to a table surrounded by loud groups of drinkers. We do understand that the food and drink are sold separately. The food itself was also disappointing. One of us had a slab of hard pork swimming in a mustardy sauce,with a few greens floating beside it. We subsequently fed it to our dog.. The mussels were fair bit not enough of them ...no wipes provided. Roasties were good...no complaints there! Dessert was also very disappointing. It was supposed to be Eton mess,but.no cream, no strawberries, just cobbled together with a bit of rhubarb puree on top. Meringues were hard and seem to have been shop bought. Also ..we understand the present premises are a temporary measure,. However the stools were all torn, curtains dirty. And there were a lot of flies. We won't be back. We have previously eaten at the food truck in Killary and had no complaints there.

08/07/2025: The restaurant is now within the bar, so was slightly confusing but wow - this food was absolutely unreal! So delicious, especially after a lovely session in the Big Dipper.
