16/11/2025: The food was very good and reasonably priced. The service was very friendly and welcoming. It was the perfect place for lunch after exploring Connemara National Park.
15/11/2025: Thatched roof atmosphere continues inside and is very quaint and homey, but didn't feel cheap or outdated.

19/10/2025: Really lovely country pub. Visited with the Irish Subaru Drivers Club as a final stop in our Doolough valley run.
The food was immensely tasty, and there's a huge amount of room in the back for dining, as well as a huge terrace overlooking the beautiful scenery as a smoking area.
I got roast lamb and spuds, and it was absolutely beautiful.
Well worth the spin.

28/10/2025: Terrible experience. We went to this pub just after church time on a Sunday. The lady at the bar was really unfriendly. We order two Irish coffee… well the were really bad. It seems like juste burnt coffee without any whisky inside, I have to admit she puts coca powder on top.
I will definitely never go back to this pub again.

I’ll definitely be returning, and I’ve already recommended this place to several friends.

27/11/2025: I was recommended here by a university of galway Professor. She said it was not to be missed. She was right. The preparations, the service was exceptional. The meal's components were fresh, perfectly seasoned, ample, precisely cooked and delicious. Eve if you have to drive a hour to get here, it's a bucket list experience you didn't know you needed.

13/11/2025: Our stay at Abbeyglen Castle Hotel was wonderful. The castle has so much character, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff were warm and attentive throughout our visit. One of the absolute highlights was the evening talk. Hearing the history of the castle and the surrounding area brought the whole experience to life and made the stay feel even more meaningful. It was engaging, fun, and something that set Abbeyglen apart from any other stay we have had. We would love to return on our next trip to the area.

November 14th, 2025: I need to say more as I didn't do it justice with the brief comment above. We simply loved this place. If we were ever to visit Ireland again, Abbeyglen Castle Hotel would be on the TOP of our list of places to stay!

08/11/2025: Fantastic spot! Variety of different choices on the menu. Including vegetarian options. The Guinness was excellent, even the non alcoholic version was tops. The staff were very friendly, helpful and prompt. It is busy on a Friday night so if your looking for a quiet romantic evening you may not get that on the weekend as its packed out! The fillet steak was by far the best cooked steak we have had in a long time! Couldn't fault the place.

03/11/2025: Excellent in every way. Our room was spotlessly clean and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. The food was first class, both evening a la carte and breakfast. Above all, every member of staff we met really were friendly and super efficient.

30/11/2025: We are regulars at Blackthorn because it’s our favourite restaurant in Galway. The food is really special and creative, always tastes amazing. We have never been disappointed. The service is wonderful, especially Fergal who knows every aspect of the menu and guides us through the wine list. Definitely go!

Could not commend this place enough on not only their food but the warmth and hospitality from the owners. Well done to everyone in Paddy Burkes. You are playing a blinder. What a gem of a place.
16/09/2025: We went there twice for dinner and drinks. The restaurant is very nice and cozy, with very friendly and attentive staff.
The fish and chips were very good; the roasted Irish beef wasn't my cup of tea, but that's certainly a matter of taste.
We had a couple of lovely evenings there.

Friendly staff. The restaurant itself is large ,plenty of seating. It can get rather stuffy though.
08/11/2025: Oh such a lovely place...
We were allowed to park our self built motorhome overnight and had the nicest steak and drinks. Staff all really nice, helpful and efficient to say the least.
