The best restaurantsof irish in Killarney

24/07/2025: Really liked this place. I recommend reserving a table in advance, as it gets busy, but we still managed to get seated on a busy evening. The prices are okay, definitely not the worst we've seen in Killarney. I got the sheperd's pie (for two days in a row, that's how much I liked it), and my boyfriend got the chicken special of the day, which was good, but nothing to write home about. Their sticky toffee pudding is really nice, and can be shared with another person in my opinion. The sun dried tomato spread you get as a complementary starter is amazinh as well. The staff is very nice and accommodating. The only thing I was a bit puzzled by is the speed at which they get the main dishes out. We arrived at the empty restaurant at 4pm and got served our two pies at 4:15. Makes me wonder if they keep them frozen. 🧐

21/07/2025: Be sure to make a reservation in advance, otherwise you'll end up hungry and turned away (day 1). We had a reservation here for day 2. We had a starter (minestrone and goat cheese) and the shepherd's pie for the main course. The soup was great, and the rest was solid. Unfortunately, this was our second shepherd's pie. We found the one in Dublin much better. If we had just chosen the shepherd's pie without a starter, we would have gone hungry. Furthermore, the food was somewhat poorly presented and rustic.

09/07/2025: We stopped in for lunch between bus rides and had an absolutely lovely experience. We had 4 adults, 3 kids, and all of our luggage and they were wonderful at getting us a spot where we could put our bags while we ate. The atmosphere was beautiful, the food was incredible, and our service from Maria was excellent. We are so glad we decided to stop in!

06/07/2025: I really wish we had heard more Trad Irish folk music being old of town even for a Sunday but as a chef the Facaccia was delicious and something I would order again. George made it a very rememberable time with his extensive experience and knowledge in cocktails. Emmet was a great story teller and genuine individual. You can tell they both truly only wanted us to enjoy ourselves which made our experience here perfect. Thank you so much ❤️

02/07/2025: Amazing bar for Whiskey!!! Booked the masterclass for a Whiskey tasting which is absolutely worthy. Greay food, good Whiskey and very interesting stories about irish Whiskey . Go there!!

13/07/2025: Fui al restaurante con un grupo de amigos del trabajo. Desde el principio me sentí realmente bienvenido. El interior del restaurante es hermoso y muy limpio. No tuvimos que esperar nada para que nos sirvieran la bebida (¡cócteles increíbles por cierto!), el servicio fue muy rápido y suficiente. Las encantadoras camareras se comunicaron con nosotros y nos ayudaron de principio a fin. ¡Tuve un queso de cabra increíble como entrada! Los sabores y el tamaño de las porciones eran increíbles. Como plato principal pedí salmón, que también estaba muy rico. Salí del lugar lleno y feliz. ¡Experiencia increíble 10/10 lo recomiendo!

02/07/2025: The place has a regal charm, with elegantly styled rooms and spacious bathrooms. The staff are exceptionally kind and supportive, adding to the warm and cozy atmosphere. The location is also very convenient. At first, I was slightly annoyed by the requirement to hand over my room key at the reception every time I left. But upon reflection, I found it to be a thoughtful and personal touch. Being greeted by a staff member each time I returned, accompanied by a genuine smile, turned this small routine into a moment of connection that I came to truly appreciate.

01/07/2025: We have stayed at a number of hotels in Killarney and we would rank the Killarney Royal Hotel as our first choice. The staff, accommodations and food were just terrific!

20/06/2025: I’m an early riser and many of the coffee shops in Ireland open later. This one opened promptly at 7 am and made a beautiful cappuccino! Friendly staff. Ordered another to go and was informed that in Killarney they don’t use paper cups. They have the “2GoCup Deposit and Return scheme.” They give you a pretty nice reusable takeaway cup. You pay €2 and can bring it back and get your €2 back. You can also take it to the other participating businesses and turn it in for your money back. Interesting.

02/06/2025: We stayed in Killarney for a week and visited many cafes. We thought Lir Cafe was the best. Great food and coffee, lovely welcoming and efficient staff ... and great to sit out the front and watch the world go by.

17/07/2025: My wife had the chowder out of 10 8 had the chicken curry, definitely 10 service 10 great place.

06/07/2025: Great restaurant in the middle of town… service was great and the food was delicious and served hot! Basic wine list but had a good selection. Nice atmosphere if you’re looking for something a little quieter than the pub scene.

10/07/2025: 20 years after my first visit: Food‘s still fantastic. The sticky toffee cheesecake is a must. Great place!

10/07/2025: Best pint in Killarney. Attentive staff. Great music and atmosphere (without being SO loud like other pubs with music). Tadgh O’Connor is an absolute gentleman. It’s a great pub because he’s there working hard. He always seems to be on the move. When one of us asked for the side door to be opened he took care of it himself. Tadgh also operates tours so you can sort that out with them.

25/06/2025: First of all the service was atrocious, the lady taking our order appeared unfriendly and she looked like she did not want to be there at all. After ordering the food it took about 40 minutes to arrive at our table, which I couldn't understand as the place wasn't very busy. My wife ordered a medium rare stake and it was far from medium rare, it was well done, and it was chewy and fatty and very hard to eat. We also ordered the children's chicken curry for our son, I asked the lady taking our order if the curry was mild, she said it was very mild, but it wasn't at all, my son couldn't even eat it because it was so hot. We explained these issues to another female member of staff, and she didn't even apologise or offer us a replacement dish, she just said "oh ok", and quickly rushed off. I don't normally leave bad reviews, but I just had to for this place. Bad service, unfriendly and unhelpful staff, and mediocre food. I wouldn't recommend at all.

18/07/2025: Our first visit to Kitty O’Se’s was so enjoyable. Fish that tasted straight from the ocean, a great buzz & generally a very pleasant time. Deserts were a bit of a disappointment though. We re visited recently, this time it was just like any fish restaurant & sadly we came away a little underwhelmed. Based our first visit, if you like seafood it ranks very high in Killarney & you have to give it a try.

06/07/2025: Excellent location but little hard to find. parking is close by but hard to know where to go from there. Charming pub, more of a family style, has 10 rooms no elevator but very helpful staff. Weird part was we have three single beds in our room, not sure if they’re all like that. Breakfast is great and they’re very friendly. Even though it’s on the main street and at the pub, noise was not an issue for us with closed windows. We would recommend it.
