09/07/2025: We stopped in for lunch between bus rides and had an absolutely lovely experience. We had 4 adults, 3 kids, and all of our luggage and they were wonderful at getting us a spot where we could put our bags while we ate. The atmosphere was beautiful, the food was incredible, and our service from Maria was excellent. We are so glad we decided to stop in!

06/07/2025: I really wish we had heard more Trad Irish folk music being old of town even for a Sunday but as a chef the Facaccia was delicious and something I would order again. George made it a very rememberable time with his extensive experience and knowledge in cocktails. Emmet was a great story teller and genuine individual. You can tell they both truly only wanted us to enjoy ourselves which made our experience here perfect. Thank you so much ❤️

17/06/2025: We discovered this place by pure chance, and we loved it. Our best meal of our trip to Ireland was here. The owner was very kind and friendly, and the food was spectacular. A total success.

16/06/2025: Liam was a terrific host, guiding me through a wonderful flight of Irish Pot Still whisky and offering insights into some very good drams. The selection is unbelievable and we will be returning when back in Killearny in a couple of weeks. Go to this bar!

16/06/2025: Walked right in and was served quickly but not rushed. The price per person includes at least 2 drinks per person. They have the largest selection of liquors I have ever seen. The waitresses were very polite, patient, and helpful. I enjoyed the wings with Guiness BBQ sauce. Yum!!

02/07/2025: The place has a regal charm, with elegantly styled rooms and spacious bathrooms. The staff are exceptionally kind and supportive, adding to the warm and cozy atmosphere. The location is also very convenient. At first, I was slightly annoyed by the requirement to hand over my room key at the reception every time I left. But upon reflection, I found it to be a thoughtful and personal touch. Being greeted by a staff member each time I returned, accompanied by a genuine smile, turned this small routine into a moment of connection that I came to truly appreciate.

01/07/2025: We have stayed at a number of hotels in Killarney and we would rank the Killarney Royal Hotel as our first choice. The staff, accommodations and food were just terrific!

09/06/2025: As noted in a previous review, don't be fooled by the storefront; even if you don't see anyone in the restaurant, there's a dining room in the back. Friendly welcome, impeccable service, excellent cuisine, and a calm atmosphere make it ideal for couples or families to chat and get along... Highly recommended.

02/06/2025: We stayed in Killarney for a week and visited many cafes. We thought Lir Cafe was the best. Great food and coffee, lovely welcoming and efficient staff ... and great to sit out the front and watch the world go by.

19/06/2025: A welcoming place. Friendly staff, ready to meet the needs of customers. We went there on June 16, it was the anniversary of their opening (70 years) without booking and they immediately found a table for us. Excellent dishes especially the Atlantic fish soup, but also the hamburgers and salads. I recommend it

05/06/2025: Good, hearty food, with great service and good atmosphere (if a touch dark inside). We had the spring rolls to start, followed by a burger and the lamb shank - the lamb is their signature meal, and was excellent (probably the best lamb my partner has ever had). Recommend

16/06/2025: We were here yesterday to celebrate our anniversary with my boyfriend. The attention at the beginning was good, the food was average... nothing extraordinary. However, while we were talking and we had just finished our plate, they took it away immediately. I found it a bit disrespectful, but I can understand that they want to speed up their service, it is worth mentioning that there were about 4 tables occupied, the restaurant was practically empty and no one was waiting outside. It takes 5 minutes after the dishes are cleared and the bill arrives. None of us had ordered it yet because we were talking. The waiter told us "no rush" but 2 minutes later one of the waitresses approached us with the machine to pay with a card, all this without either of us having indicated it. I found this attitude on the part of the waiters to be rude. We both felt like they wanted us to leave quickly even though the place was empty in the middle of lunch hour. We spent almost 100 euros on the service for them to have such a rude attitude. I would not go back, I do not recommend it.

16/06/2025: Left a stunning impression. I want to come back here to enjoy the taste of the dishes. Fish, seafood were delicious. The waiters are polite, friendly and professional. Thank you very much for giving happy moments in life.

16/06/2025: That's just my personal opinion: very loud, and even louder with live music. The service staff was great, and the guests were extremely friendly to us tourists.

25/06/2025: First of all the service was atrocious, the lady taking our order appeared unfriendly and she looked like she did not want to be there at all. After ordering the food it took about 40 minutes to arrive at our table, which I couldn't understand as the place wasn't very busy. My wife ordered a medium rare stake and it was far from medium rare, it was well done, and it was chewy and fatty and very hard to eat. We also ordered the children's chicken curry for our son, I asked the lady taking our order if the curry was mild, she said it was very mild, but it wasn't at all, my son couldn't even eat it because it was so hot. We explained these issues to another female member of staff, and she didn't even apologise or offer us a replacement dish, she just said "oh ok", and quickly rushed off. I don't normally leave bad reviews, but I just had to for this place. Bad service, unfriendly and unhelpful staff, and mediocre food. I wouldn't recommend at all.

23/06/2025: Easily the most delicious bite to eat out of three day stint in Killarney! The best fish cakes ever - simple, fresh, succulent. Loved the salad that went with it too; basic crunchy veg with a creamy dressing. Wish I had gone to their Mad Monk restaurant too.

15/06/2025: I've been getting the occasional takeaway from here for years and the fish was superb. However, sadly I can't say the same after the last 3 or so purchases. Whatever fish I've ordered, it tastes the same; the taste of cooking oil. Yuk! It seems that they no longer know how to batter or fry fish. The chips taste the same as well. Is it down to new staff who need better training, I don't know but I'm going to give it a miss in future.

06/06/2025: Small crowd on a Tuesday night but music was on point

06/06/2025: Wouldn't even acknowledge us in the restraunt. Glad we are staying at Scotts hotel, had to chase a person down to ask for a table. We were ready to spend money on drinks and food. Told us to try another place. They were not even busy, seen multiple tables open. Try somewhere else if your not a local. Sad, we really wanted to try it.

05/07/2025: Very mid experience, almost a tourist trap feeling. Food was okay but nothing to write home about. We had the Irish stew, steak, and veggie soup. However, thoroughly unimpressed with the service quality. We were served by a senior waitress, who seemed like either a supervisor or manager. She could not have shown less care to us, starting from tossing the menus on the table, stepping on my feet, to, basically, expecting us to take care of ourselves. And to fish for tips after it all. The atmosphere is okay but given the abundance of other places in the area, I wouldn't return.

04/07/2025: Yes, definitely recommended! Best stew ever. The Thai curry was very good. The Baileys cheesecake was delicious 😋
