The best restaurants in Mayo

24/03/2024: My Boyfriend ordered me himself and his little sister desserts from Apache tonight. We ordered cookies, brownies and a massive tub of Ben And Jerrys Cookie Dough Ice Cream. To say the expereince was appalling is an understatement, it was absolutely horrific. I am a good customer of Apache for many years and tonight’s expereince was the worst i’ve ever seen. The cookies came mouldy, like they have been made since 2009, the brownie we had to heat up ourselves , and the icecream which was MEANT to be vanilla was a very odd brown colour, we checked the date on the icecream and it expired a year ago. And to make things worse, this cost us over 30 euro and we didn’t even enjoy it. Myself and my fella are students we buy something if we’re going to enjoy it but we didn’t enjoy it so we have just wasted that money on what could cover our college fees. I never usually have any problems with Apache but this has been by far the worst expereince we have ever had .

12/10/2023: Ordered food on the just eat app, confirmed my order, they called me 20 mins later 5 times but I missed the calls cause my phone was slow and it was glitching and I got my sisters phone to call back 20 mins later and explained this and apologised, he then said there was no delivery and asked if I could collect and I said no I don’t drive, he was obviously lying cause he then proceeded to ask if I could pay over the phone. I said I’d pay on delivery like I always do. Then said sorry and told me he cancels my order. Honestly so disappointed with them. I will never order from this place again. If you had no delivery why confirm my order on the app and if u can’t take cash on delivery then why is it an option.

06/03/2024: A little slice of heaven secretly tucked away in the back room behind the shop. The Guinness is always beautiful & the welcomes are always plentiful

03/03/2024: Such a great place, very handy little shop and lovely pub ran by friendly people always stop in before getting a late bus, very clean and tidy establishment

01/09/2023: According to the 'McCartney Bar' Irish guide book you should never go into an Irish bar/pub calling itself a 'traditional' Irish bar. And Howard's (just called Howard's on the outside) proves that point. Upon entering this bar Eugene and all the people in the bar made us feel like we're were already one of the regular locals. Fantastic genuine Irish welcome. Went back a few times because of the atmosphere and they are dog friendly to well behaved dogs only. So score a Brucy Bonus point for being dog friendly.

07/09/2023: My new favourite shop as I toured Ireland. I rarely write reviews but the lunch, variety, coffee and service etc etc.......

02/10/2023: Excellent food and service. Food was very tasty and arrived promptly. I had a Caesar salad and Chicken for main course. I had an apple crumble for dessert which I unfortunately wasn’t fond of - the crumble was more like a powder, but the ice cream was lovely. We also had breakfast the next morning which was also delicious. I would definitely return.

03/08/2023: We stayed 2 nights in the hotel and as usual we ate in the restaurant. What a disappointment, nothing is up to par neither the service nor the menu. And yet the bill was very high. Ps in the evening it’s menu only
