The best restaurants in Mayo

24/07/2024: 2.5/5. We were looking forward to eating here after reading great reviews but unfortunately it wasn't a good experience for us. The restaurant wasn't very busy but there was a table of six ladies near us who were so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak. Service was slow but Lachlan did look after us well. There was a table next to us that was left uncleared for the whole evening. We had a prawn starter to share which was good. My husband had steak and veg which he was happy with. I ordered Carticco - seafood pasta. The seafood was ok although I didn't eat a few mussels because they weren't fully open. But the pasta was too thick and heavy. I make far nicer pasta at home all the time. I left most of it. Disappointing for our last night in Westport. Lachlan took it off the bill which we appreciate. I was going to try a dessert but didn't after that.

07/06/2024: After hiking diamond hill at the Connemara np we had starters for dinner. Delicious. avocado and prawns, bruschetta, ravioli, and garlic bread Italian style. Mmmmmmm. Perfecto!

24/10/2024: always been an amazing spot, had a really rich chocolate cake w my mom and we absolutely loved it( my vanilla chai was also amazing) ! i’m specifically writing this review to compliment the worker who accomodated us!! Her name’s Zofia and she had the most pleasant attitude, so incredibly attentive and helpful. She runs around the place helping everyone with a smile on her face with the fastest service! Just felt like her efforts should be commended as she really puts in effort and does it with a smile 💓💓 Top class work!!

06/10/2024: Good assortment of well-prepared and tasty takeaway dishes at reasonable prices. We bought the shepherd's pie, tomato basil soup, and a loaf of fresh-made white bread. We had two full diners for four people out of what we ordered.

06/06/2024: Always enjoy coming here .Staff are friendly and you are never kept waiting too long.Food is decent and they do a nice sized breakfast.

20/09/2023: The food was superb. If the staff were awful, we would still be excited to go back and try something else. Thankfully, they are polite and friendly. We will be talking about our evening here for some time to come.

13/09/2023: Stunning restaurant with great surroundings. The food was fabulous, Mussels and Piri Piri Prawns are to die for. The service was excellent and the prices are resonable for the quality and presentation of the food. Well done No8 thank you. Derek

27/10/2024: Food 5 out 5 Beautiful with a venue not without its charm which they should totally advertise. The seafood tagliatelle was yum. This place is missing a beat with its environmental sustainability initiatives in an ever so gentle way taking locals on their journey. Reusable napkins, local food and young local staff with locals fiercely protecting these young people by coming here. They should provide little notes all over the place telling their story. Id love if they would try out a monthly jazz, celtic fusion and new music chosen by the staff . Dessert was grand but why not a trio or crackers and brandy.

24/08/2024: Always an excellent night out! The seafood is fresh and deliciously cooked, the mussels in cream and crispy calamari to start, absolutely divine. We had the chef special pasta, seafood pasta and the surf and turf tonight. Couldn’t be happier with it - the banoffee and crumble are favourites. The pizza is great, especially the seafood. Eve and Mia were absolutely lovely. Thanks Orla for a delicious meal!

24/01/2025: We had a blast. Any excuse to see the wonder of Ashford Castle. Loved the dark and deep atmosphere. The food was impeccable.

29/11/2024: Cenamos en el Dungeon y tuvimos un servicio absolutamente fenomenal. La comida era deliciosa, y servida con mucho entusiasmo. Habíamos investigado el menú antes de llegar, pero cambiamos de opinión cuando se presentaron los especiales. Samuel, nuestro camarero, era muy atento, e incluso se ofreció a tomar una foto para nosotros que era tan amable. Thomas también era muy atento y profesional. Nunca esperamos ni necesitamos nada. Tenían razón en cada detalle. Yo, yo mismo soy el más exigente que conozco, y alérgico a casi todo, y a mi esposo un chef (fue entrenado en Ashford Castle en la década de 1990) por lo que tenemos una alta atención a cada detalle y sabor, y aún así ambos limpiamos nuestros platos, y por supuesto comimos postre. 10 / 10 para comida y servicio.
