The best restaurants in Carlow

18/12/2024: I had heard great things, and was extremely disappointed. Firstly the music was far too loud and distracting. The service was incredibly slow, our first tapas didn't arrive until nearly 30 minutes after we ordered, and the last tapas didn't arrive until 40 minutes after that. The food itself was also a disappointment, the prawns were flavourless and bland, the beef tacos were cold and, the risotto in the arancini was overcooked to the point of being mush, and the calamari was soggy. Worst of all, I was hungry as I left.

08/12/2024: It was my first time there! The food was amazing and the staff were very helpful and friendly!

15/12/2024: Hugh portions of tasty carvery food. Quickly served and very well priced.

13/12/2024: Good pub. Serve 3-4 diferent mains each day. You get plenty of food on ur plate (you some times have to ask to reduce how much they give you)fair green is only across the road behind the shop units oppsit carpenters so plenty parking there. Limited parking at rear of carpenters

11/11/2024: Nice place near the river. It’s at the border of Carlow and Kilkenny county. Place is around 35-40 min drive from Carlow town. They had lots of vegetarian options and taste was nice. Staff were nice and experienced. Portions was also nice enough and price was also not too bad.

15/01/2025: Mi marido y yo estábamos haciendo una excursión de un día a Carlow hoy (15 de enero ) , para visitar las exposiciones en VISUAL y había estado tan decepcionado con el restaurante en el lugar cuando estuvimos allí el año pasado, que hice un poco de investigación para encontrar otro restaurante cerca. ¡No me decepcionó! Aunque solo cada uno terminó tomando una pizza, ambos habíamos leído el menú y estábamos impresionados por la cantidad de cosas que sonaban delicioso (entrantes, pastas, calzones). Los postres eran visibles en una caja refrigerada cerca de nuestra mesa y se veían fantásticos, pero los dos estábamos demasiado llenos de la delicia de las pizzas para tener nada más. ¡La próxima! Definitivamente habrá una próxima vez como nos encantó el lugar. El servicio también era maravilloso, por lo que espero es un lugar dirigido por la familia, ya que podía escuchar los sonidos melódicos del italiano mientras el personal joven hablaba (en voz baja) entre sí.

06/12/2024: Lovely cafe. Very cosy and lovely staff. This is my 3rd visit and I have had something different from the menu every time and have not been disappointed. The sandwiches are really good and the filling doesn't fall out when you bite into them, which is always a bonus 😊. The coffee is really good too. The cinnamon Latte is delish. This cafe is well worth a visit. Even if it takes you out of your way it will be worth it. I'm adding to this review Dec'24 because we are regular visitors now and every time we visit I want to write a review because it is always a pleasure. We have brought friends and family from ages 9 to 70 and all have been delighted with the food, the service and of course the quirky decor. Jules verne inspired I believe. Christmas has arrived at Cafe le mode and it is even cosier now. I look forward to our next visit👌

14/11/2024: We have had multiple events and family meals in Lennons. It never fails to impress. The food, staff, attention to detail and a fabulous setting make it a special place. Carlow is lucky to have such a restaurant.

12/01/2025: Really disappointing to be told you can't order a bowl of mash for a 6 month old baby. Asked why and was told 'we just don't do that', even though there is an option of mash on the kids menu.Then on top of that got our original order for our other child wrong and had an attitude when told that's not what we asked for. Won't be returning to a usual family favourite. Menu slightly changed also, really annoyed.

14/01/2025: I had such a lovely and pleasant experience in Lamberts with my six month old. Staff were welcoming and friendly. The seating area was perfect. I didn't feel like my buggy was in the way. Coffee and treat was delish. Exactly what I needed. Even the other customers were friendly.
