The best restaurants in Carlow

10/08/2026: Absolutely loved the place It was my wife and I anniversary so we travelled over from Kilkenny on a lovely Friday afternoon (5pm) . Sat outside and the service and vibe was lovely, the place was already packed and the waitresses were on fire, always around and very attentive. The choices were ace and they seemed to come out a dish or 2 at a time so it felt like we were always eating. Few glasses of wine for the lady, mocktails for the kids and 0% for dad a wonderful experience. There are closer Tapas in Kilkenny but this is well worth the journey and we will return. BUT book ahead the place is popular.

03/08/2026: Enjoyed a fabulous lunch of mixed Bruschetta, garlic mushrooms (to die for!) and Caesar salad between 2 of us. Great food highly recommend !

15/08/2026: This is a slightly different style of review for a slightly different style of restaurant.Beautifuully situated in an atmospheric old Mill on the grassy bank of the Barrow River, it's been there since the handsome Mark was almost in short trousers.. His Father, the gregarious and warmly welcoming Martin and lovely Emer whose extraordinary oven turns out the most magical breads, scones, buns and biscuits are the dynamic trio in the background, foreground and wherever else you want them. The staff are charming, obliging and caring. I'm coming to the food! I'm bringing a dear friend to Mullachain next Monday so I know I'll be given a warm welcome, a window seat, and a genuine smile. The food will be mid price range and the quality superb. I shall dither among the deserts, Quibble over choice of salads, slurp any one of the delicious Home-made soups and end with the best of Coffee and scones to die for! My friend and I will be waved off by Martin or Mark knowing that once Gain we have and experienced the magic of the Mullachain!

13/08/2026: Thanks, for being so accommodating and kind, and saving our outing with the late bike hire, I never caught the owners name but we landed to go for a cycle and brought our own bikes but one of them had a soft tyre and we hadn't got the right pump with us, the owner hired me a bike at 16.00 pm and closed at 17.30 and said to knock at his house next door, when we got back and we did so at 21.00 pm he was so pleasant, and we had a good chat for about 10 mins, what an absolute gentleman thank you, and what a we peace of heaven you have there we will be back for sure 🙏💪💪

14/06/2026: Amazing food and a fantastic menu with plenty of options to choose from. The staff were incredibly friendly and the thoughtful host made every patron feel welcome and personally looked after. A wonderful experience from start to finish.

15/07/2026: As a family we love a ramble around, it's a lovely afternoon visit for all the family. We all love to pick out flowers and accessories for our garden, then pop in for a coffee and bun while the kids have a run round in the playground and maze. We love checking out all the newest garden furniture and ornaments in the store itself, and the kids love picking out new books. So much in this establishment.

20/07/2026: Lamberts coffee house is rhe place to go if you want to experience beautiful coffee i would highly recoommed anyone to pop in when passing

15/07/2026: Such a lovely daytime coffee spot. The AI slop imagery tacked about however really undermines the overall beauty of the restoration. Maybe PLUR bakery or someone can help them find a local artist to do justice to their buissness? ❤️
