29/08/2026: My friend and I stopped by after a long, cold trip from Slieve League and were greeted by the lovely owner. She and her husband offered us soup to warm up — it was the best soup I’ve ever had, we felt so much better after. We ordered the duck wrap and the Chinese dry hotpot. The duck wrap was Beijing-style, so moist and soft, tasted totally authentic. The Chinese dry hotpot was a little too spicy for me, but the beef literally melted in my mouth — I don’t know how they got it that buttery. Absolute must-try. Second visit: We came back and tried the wonton soup, Japanese yakisoba, Malaysian nasi goreng, crispy chicken strips, and crispy wontons. I expected the wontons to be the American cream cheese version, but they’re actually authentic Chinese-style with shrimp and other ingredients inside — wrapper thin and crispy. The wonton soup tasted like real homecooking. I loved the nasi goreng so much — the rice doesn’t stick together and stays plump and moist, best fried rice technique I’ve had. My friend absolutely loved the yakisoba, it was really good, kids would love it too. The owner also gave us a steamed bun, a new product with high-quality bamboo shoot and pork filling. The outside was soft with a hint of sweetness like milk bread, and the filling blended together nicely. It’ll be a great light meal for a late night snack or breakfast. Highly recommend — great food, great people.

15/10/2026: I have visited multiple times. The food here is priced well, the food comes in large quantities and is authentic. The Xiao Long Bao are incredible and the best mains dishes (in my opinion) is the kung pao chicken.

15/09/2026: Best Chinese in ballyshannon,far better then Chinese in bundoran..the food is very very good,and massive portions,I've tried a few things,the duck dishes are amazing, same with chicken Chow mein ,I've had lots of take aways,and have sat down in restaurant,,they are run off there feet ,with the amount of people I've seen early after 6pm on a Saturday, coming in ordering take away and phone calls.. fantastic Chinese

18/08/2026: O M G !! What a pleasant and fantastic surprise. We were touring Ireland and stumbled on this place whilst having a pint in O'Donnell's. We decided to try the Golden Dragon on impulse, and it was brilliant !! Huge portions of piping hot, freshly cooked food. So much we had to take some home with us. We can highly recommend the combination starter for two, Rainbow Fillet Beef, and General Tso's Chicken. I have eaten Asian food in Hong Kong, Singapore, and all over the UK and Europe, and this place is amongst the best for food quality. The staff are delightful... this place punches above it's own weight massively!!

Whether you're stopping in for a quick drink or spending the evening with friends, the pub has a great vibe that makes you want to stay longer. What truly made the visit stand out was the outstanding service from the bartender. Not only were they friendly, attentive, and professional, but their translation skills were absolutely stellar. They went above and beyond to help bridge language barriers, making everyone feel included and comfortable. Their ability to communicate clearly and effortlessly with people from different backgrounds added a personal touch that elevated the entire experience. The combination of an excellent atmosphere and genuinely exceptional service makes The City Arms a place I would highly recommend. I’ll definitely be returning.

01/08/2026: Downstairs was busy so ended upstairs and there was only two occupied tables. The vibe of the place is old school, the pop music playing did not match the atmosphere. The menu is old and wrecked. The drinks came, wine was off, and Guinness tasted bad. The glasses were dirty. Food came fast, the chips were dry and floury, is arid too harsh? The steak was well done and it's sauce obviously came from a bottle (the type poured over sdws at Spar or Centra) the onions weren't caramelized, black pepper sauce would have been better especially with mushrooms. The ciabatta seemed fresh. The fish was edible. Popcorn chicken was dry. Welcome to 1974.

22/09/2026: Generous portions of a choice of 6 lunch specials of tasty food with rice and a drink for EUR 10. E we ordered two different lunch specials. The food came out piping hot and tasty. Couldn’t finish and had to take the rest to go. Great value!!

09/09/2026: Small place, but really cosy — the kind you step into off the street and instantly feel warm. The staff are lovely, genuinely friendly and happy to help you pick something. I had the fish soup — spicy, plenty of red chilli, and delicious. The portion is huge, easily enough for two people to share. One tip: order a small bowl of plain white rice with it. It goes perfectly with the soup. And the prices are very reasonable on top of that. Definitely coming back.

We had a table of 5 including two young kids that got spoilt with treats on the house, my wife was also surprised with her birthday candle and box of chocolates from the staff...this is why this restaurant has lasted decades in Navan. We will be returning and our kids will be reminding us of it

The food was delicious, fresh, and full of flavour, and the service was friendly and welcoming throughout. The atmosphere was lovely, making it a great place to catch up with a friend and enjoy a relaxed meal. Everything from the food to the service was spot on.
