01/05/2026: Went for dinner last night. Two starters, two mains and two soft drinks came to 79 euros. The staff were exceptionally pleasant, restaurant clean with lovely views but very overpriced. Got 4 battered prawns which were 12 euros, chicken no veg with sauce and noodles which was 25 euros. Prices massively inflated from takeaway. Left disappointed as food wasn't up to the price tag.

30/03/2026: Being a few yrs since I was at a lantern chinese and we were delighted that the food, service and atmosphere was as good if not better than ever in The Lantern Ballina, Food was amazing Decor was excellent Restaurant was lovely, warm and spotless. Staff were all efficient and gave excellent service throughout Highly recommend and it won't be as long again until we visit the Lantern Ballina

24/11/2025: Recently visited this restaurant and it was a bit of a mixed experience for me. The main thing I noticed was the price – the takeaway menu is okay, but when you eat in, the prices are almost double for the same items, so it doesn’t really feel worth it to sit in. We ordered a chicken spice box and I was not happy with it, because there was very little chicken and it was mostly filled with chips. We also bought a shawarma wrap, which actually tasted nice, with a chicken strip in the middle and rice, but the wrap itself looked more like a spring roll wrap than a normal shawarma. The curry dip was really nice though and added good flavour to the food.

10/03/2026: Good service and well priced but food is very average. Definitely catering for the 'irish chinese with chips' market so don't expect anything close to an authentic dish. There are much better asian food options in the area. Used to be good years ago but not anymore - as evidenced by the empty resturant when we were there.

17/01/2026: Worst dining experience in Ireland so far. Completely fooled by online recommendations. Look at the state of the starter, an absolute joke for the price they charge. Noodles drenched in oil (we only managed one spoon) and the “Szechuan beef” was the worst I’ve ever had.

04/04/2026: Very disappointing experience overall. Ordering was frustrating – the staff member seemed to struggle to understand simple requests. Delivery time was quoted 40–50 minutes which felt quite long. When the food arrived, nothing was prepared as expected. Everything was packed separately (noodles, meat, sauces), with no cutlery, chopsticks, or even napkins provided unless specifically requested – which is not ideal for a delivery. Food itself was bland and lacked flavour. I would rate it around 4/10 at best. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t order again and wouldn’t recommend unless you have no other option.

13/04/2026: LOVE IT. Lovely menu of delicious and freshly prepared Chinese food. Staff very friendly and attentive. Plenty of free parking right outside the door. They gave me my leftovers in a box, and I enjoyed it next day Note: restaurant is on the first floor. I didn't see a lift but maybe phone first to find out.

17/03/2026: Good experience at Pagoda. Great food with some great service! Ordered crispy chicken wings, fried noodles and rice. All were delicious and served with right portions.

17/04/2026: I absolutely love this restaurant. I often order takeaway from them, and I’ve also eaten in on other occasions – it’s a really cosy place. The staff are amazing; they’re so friendly and lovely. I’ve tried different dishes, and what I like best about this place is the beef, whether served with rice or noodles.

25/01/2026: Great food but every time I order for delivery in Straffan it's at least 90min to 2 hours. I really like the staff and food but your delivery drivers are letting you down. Plus they never deliver to my house. It's 40feet away because they can't be bothered to drive in to the estate.

20/04/2026: Takeaway recently, weirdest meat sung I ever tasted mushy beef! with a sweet sauce and no crispy noodles also had peppercorn prawn which was drowned in a sweet chilli sauce. Also the satay chicken also tasted sweet apparently. New inexperienced cook or someone in Kitchen decided to sabotage the meal 😊, anyway worst takeaway we ever had, seriously. Delivered by just eat on Saturday 14th April from Caherdavin outfit

06/05/2026: Very bad experience with the front staff the guy who took the order worst attitude towards the customer he took the wrong order all together when I returned the wrong food there is no least a word sorry very disappointed never ever come back again I taken orders previously from here the two girls always was very helpful but this is not acceptable and even arguing that he is right asked for pork ribs in sauce instead of pork ribs in sauce he took it as just curry sauce I clearly said my order pork ribs the main thing as a customer I got annoyed because of his attitude towards the customer not acceptable especially in the hospitality industry I am so sorry to write this
