Ross Bakery & Café
Cork
21/08/2025: The omelets (breakfast omelet), the scones, the beans on toast, the bread... Everything was delicious and mostly homemade. The woman who runs the cafe is lovely, very pleasant and smiling. You have to go there if you are in the area.

The Old Town Whiskey Bar at Bodega
Cork
23/01/2026: Victoria was the best bartender we've encountered yet in Cork!
11/01/2026: Best full breakfast in Cork by far. Had the Irish stew the night before and it was the best I've ever had. The fish and chips is great too.

08/01/2026: Good sauce selection and fresh side dishes make a better Nandos location

Cork Coffee Roasters
Cork
27/09/2025: Great coffee and pleasant atmosphere
24/09/2025: Absolutely love this coffee it is all I drink with years and this morning I found a stone in my whole beans. My sage machine nearly broke over this. A terrible noise coming from the grinder and I took it all apart to find a stone that looked just like a bean must have been put through the roast also as it has that coating to it. Not a great way to start the morning. Could have cost me a fortune also if I kept trying to grind the beans.

Le Chateau
Cork
17/01/2026: Nice pint of Guinness- pity it's €7.10 🫣
Friendly service 🙂
07/12/2025: At €7.40 for a pint of Heineken it's a disgrace a pub in Cork is selling a pint at this price. Tourist beware. Just because it is the only surviving pub on the main City Centre street and has a few outdoor chairs. Also notable that it is a historic building. That is no excuse for serving a pint in Cork City at that price. Especially with the reductions to the vinters this year. That is just blatant price gouging. Located on St Patrick's Street. Took my business else where and got less expensive. Two pints here is more then the average person makes from an hours wage. Disgraceful.

Novecento
Cork
20/02/2026: Delicious authentic Italian pizza 👌
15/02/2026: Absolutely Appalling!
Ordered tonight and found a piece of plastic. I presume from the ham packaging. I was shocked at the lack of toppings also . I paid an extra charge for two toppings and I could barely see them , few specks here and there. Waste of €20 . I was a regular but doubt I'll be going back . Pity cos the owner is a gentleman.

Supermac's
Cork
20/02/2026: Drive thru; returned home with wrong order even though was repeated back and verified still got it wrong. E-mailed but got no satisfaction what so ever. Rudest customer service I have ever come across.
07/02/2026: The food is tasty but staff are GRIM and clearly unhappy in their employment. The restaurant is clean but clinical. Shame on Supermacs, could do better

Main Street Kinsale
Cork
09/09/2025: To be honest, I didn’t feel welcome here as a younger foreign visitor. The atmosphere felt very closed-off, with most of the crowd being 40–60 year old white locals or American tourists. Tourist and people are in here are friendly, however service from the bartender(maybe the owner) was unfriendly and included microaggressions that made me uncomfortable. I was deprioritised and even looked down on when served a beer. I felt quite sad when I leave here and ruined my trip in Kinsale. Based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you already fit that demographic.
04/09/2025: Great place for some Irish music and a pint, in a cosy pub.

The Barn
Cork
21/03/2026: Great environment and service. This place is a 10/10. I loved the people, very friendly and the service is superb.
18/03/2026: It used to be a great experience but it seems the more they have expanded, the more chaotic the experience is. Four of us went for dinner and had a reservation. We were led to a table and handed menus and told to have a nice evening but nothing else was explained and we deduced for ourselves that we could scan a barcode and order but we wanted assistance as my son, who's autistic, needed to order his burger without certain things and was anxious about making sure he did it face to face. It was a busy night and the staff all seemed very stressed and agitated. When we asked questions about items on the menu, they didn't understand what we were asking and just nodded but didn't really understand what what was being asked. It was a bit stressful because they were under pressure despite so many of them running back and forth, which made us feel pressured to just eat and go. It also took quite a while- maybe 20 minutes - for one additional drink to come.
Three of us had carvery and with an hour left to the closing of the carvery there was very little left. What I did get was quite tasty and was certainly hot. My son's food did come as he ordered it but it wasn't particularly tasty. All he ordered was for it to come without additional items such as cheese and pickles, so that shouldn't have extracted taste from the burger itself which just seemed to be flattened beef with no seasoning or anything else like a normal burger would have to make at least have some flavour. The desserts looked and tasted like they were brought in frozen and defrosted. Also the allergen listings were incorrect but I brought that to the attention of the waiter who said he'd mention it to have it amended. Then with 10 minutes until they carvery closed, they were bringing out fresh joints and veg so if the usual time had been extended this was not communicated.
Overall the price was reasonable. I liked my dinner. It was tasty and hot. My mother had the same issue with little choice but hers was also hot. My other son was happy with his carvery food.
So, a bit of a mixed bag but it just felt so stressful. It was a busy night and so the staff were probably under pressure but we could certainly feel it and just ended up feeling like we needed to eat and leave even though they were not short of tables.
I would like to go again to see if a quieter time would be better. I quite enjoyed what I had, I just had the issue with the allergen information being incorrect and also with not being able to ask questions because the waitress wasn't understanding us.
It has changed a lot over the years and perhaps it's become so big it is sometimes hard to maintain the expansion because the menu is certainly varied and there's a lot of choice with plenty to pick from. It is however now very impersonal and less like The Barn used to be and more like a Wetherspoons from the perspective of sitting down for a family meal out.

Lulu's @ the Lough
Cork
08/09/2025: Really nice cafe and great deal for açai lovers. An açai bowl (that you get to pick the contents of) and ANY coffee for €12. The açai is nice but not a strong flavour so that may be a deterrent for some. Coffee is good enough and they are generous with syrup. The toastie is one of the cheapest in cork (€5.50-€6.50) and it is nice quality. The cafe is dog friendly which is great especially if you’re walking at the lough. Would recommend!
27/08/2025: Great location for a chat and catch-up with friends.
