01/11/2025: This pub is a real hidden gem without tourists, just locals who know where the true pub spirit lives. The atmosphere is authentic, warm, and full of character, exactly what you’d expect from a proper neighborhood spot. I definitely recommend visiting this place and while you’re at it, check out the other great pubs along the same street. Also a special shout-out to the bartender’s music taste, absolutely on point 🤘

09/08/2025: Hidden gem for me. Living in Cork 43 years and only found it recently! Staff so nice and customers so friendly even though im a blow in from the north side! Ill keep going back there! Great night was had by all!!

03/10/2025: Today I went to Velo Café, totally exhausted and struggling with the weather. I had a big buggy and wanted to sit outside. But the lovely lady invited me to take a seat. I just got green tea, nothing else, but the treated us like a VIP client. I was able to feed the toddler and just got a break from my day. I'll be coming back here because the staff is absolutely lovely. Reny&Jude

23/11/2025: Recently ate here with my daughter after a hospital appointment, I have never posted a negative review on any website but this place was appalling. Waitress was pleasant and friendly but two male staff (possibly owners)were present in the eat-in area the whole time we ate watching videos blaring on their phones. They then began arguing and shouting at each other and at one stage I thought it was going to get physical. My daughter and I were the only people eating in the restaurant so felt very uncomfortable .This went on for the duration of our meal.So unprofessional and rude. Food was pretty rough but would have got over that if it was a nice atmosphere. AVOID!!

24/10/2025: One of the best Indian restaurants in Cork! I highly recommend the samosa and onion bhaji; you can truly taste that they’re made from scratch. The masala tea is another highlight, also freshly prepared. The garlic coriander naan is one of the best I’ve ever had. Loved the prawn curry ❤️. The ambience is beautiful, and the staff are absolutely lovely. Highly recommended!

15/06/2025: I had high hopes for this place, but after witnessing what goes on behind closed doors, I can’t recommend it. The lack of professionalism and questionable after-hours behaviour were deeply disappointing. What’s worse, after leaving my honest opinion, I received an intimidating message. That says more about the place than any review could. I was a regular customer. I expected decency, not fear. Not sure if management is aware, but if they are, that alone should be a red flag. Think twice before supporting this place.

14/06/2025: El fenix is possibly the best bar in cork city. Every single member of staff makes sure to make you feel welcomed. Savage music, beautiful pints, best spot in the city

02/11/2025: I came in for a takeaway and it was one of the best Chinese takeout meals I'd had in ages! What impressed me most about this visit was the service: I explained that I was a vegan and the waiter straightaway checked that what I wanted had no egg, meat, oyster sauce, and also whether I had allergies. I got a Vegetable Kung Po and requested it be extra spicy. I could see the guy adding it to my order on the computer: "extra chilli". And boy it was hot!! I loved it. My meal had cashews in it too which I loved. My wife got Prawn Satay and she was impressed at how many prawns she got (easily 10 big ones in the container). She also got heaps of veges. They weren't skint.

05/10/2025: My order was cancelled because they don’t deliver to the city centre which if fine. Even though it’s 2km from the restaurant. I called to check why it was cancelled and the man who answered was really rude and hung up on me even though I was not pushing back at all. Very disappointing as I was looking forward to trying out their food. Absolutely no need for it!

26/10/2025: I never got to go in, but locals will rant and rave about this place. We rang the doorbell and were greeted by an amazing woman. Sadly they had no more room left, but she was the sweetest person. Hopefully we can visit again soon, and have an amazing pint (which every waitress and waiter told us is the best place to have one)

09/09/2025: Best Cork pub I've been in to, and I've been here 29yrs. Didn't even know it existed. Drove past it so many times. Looking forward to my next visit 😊

You must come if you’re in CORK!

13/09/2025: Server was lovely. But! I got ONE spoon of granola in my açai bowl which was kind of ridiculous. For €10.50 I should be getting at least three spoons. The barista made a great coffee but like price for return is non existent. Could be great as the location is handy and the cafe itself is lovely inside. Potentially a great place, but not quite there.

08/09/2025: Really nice cafe and great deal for açai lovers. An açai bowl (that you get to pick the contents of) and ANY coffee for €12. The açai is nice but not a strong flavour so that may be a deterrent for some. Coffee is good enough and they are generous with syrup. The toastie is one of the cheapest in cork (€5.50-€6.50) and it is nice quality. The cafe is dog friendly which is great especially if you’re walking at the lough. Would recommend!
