The best restaurantsof irish in Kilkenny

02/11/2024: While on a tour last year my mother-in-law and I found this gem and had the best lunch ever! We fell in love with their soup of the day which was squash and sweet potatoe along with some fresh brown bread. Now that's it's fall, we'd love to make this at home and are hoping the chef can share the receipe. I highly recommend The Fig Restaurant!

14/11/2024: Had dinner and a couple of beers here. There was an Irish duet playing Irish music pretty well, and we were able to grab a table. The food we chose was Irish, and decent. The beers were well poured. Overall it was a positive experience.

09/11/2024: Your bouncers are on a power trip x Reason for no entry was "we are full" when an woman vacating had told the bouncer "two of us have left, there is space for 2 now, let this man and his friend in". Your bouncer still refused entry and would not provide any valid reason. I wouldn't mind if I was drunk, he was just wanting to ruin our stag night. Travelled half way across the country to spend money in local bars, for a man with a power trip to ruin it. Vet your bouncers, or at least give valid reason for no entry.

18/11/2024: Had a hotel booked with my girlfriend in Kilkenny for Saturday night. Went for a nice meal and went to Left Bank for a while. We weren’t quite enjoying it there so decided to come here for a better time. Terrible idea. Myself and my girlfriend were standing outside deciding whether to go in or not and then decided we would. The man working there off the bat told me my girlfriend was “loaded” and wouldn’t let us in. I questioned him on this as neither of us had even drank much at this point. He then proceeded to tell me I was “loaded” before walking back inside. He couldn’t look either of us in the eye when talking, extremely cowardly. The other bouncer was extremely apologetic when this rude man walked back in as she could very much see we were fine and just looking to have a nice time. This rude man very clearly has a power trip about him and I would highly not recommend heading here if you want to have a nice time. Myself and my girlfriend couldn’t have been that loaded if we both can very clearly remember the entire interaction and every rude comment that disgusting man made.

10/11/2024: Had a hen party this weekend, done the cocktail making activity with Carl. Best night made us all feel so comfortable and we had a great laugh, cannot recommend it enough l

15/11/2024: We been in pub today, in total 4 of us ! 3 of us eat burger , meat was really bad, was smelling bad and was not worn at all! So obviously was heated up because burger showed up in 2 min after order ! All of us are feeling really bad and been really bad since than! I don’t recommend eating any burger or any food in there you WILL GET FOOD POISONING!!!!

15/11/2024: We came today to lunch ! Food was terrible and after that food ( burger ) that we had we are felling really bad ! Won’t recommend because it’s obviously tourist trap and they are not using fresh food !

29/10/2024: It was great. We warned that it could be 15 minute wait to be seated as we wanted food, which we were happy to do. A table was found with in 2 minutes and cleared for our use. I had the cottage pie with was excellent.

28/10/2024: Nice pub with plenty of seating. We didn't realize it was seated yourself so we wasted time looking for staff. I was happy to see a cocktail menu since so many places in Ireland seem to favor Guinness and wine. The bogeyman cocktail was good & my husband enjoyed his old fashion. The calamari was good. The place got crowded early on a Saturday evening but service was good.

09/08/2024: Great pub. We were out the back in a covered in beer garden. Pints of Guinness were lovely and cold.

07/10/2024: it might have been that we were a late booking at 3pm. the food was just OK. it was salmon.it wasn't that tasty.felt like it was reheated and not that fresh. staff were lovely. toilets clean which is a must. had food here 1 year ago it was better on that occasion. it's a spacious bright venue but food needs to improve.

05/10/2024: The service and staff at this place are fantastic. I had a lovely warm welcome after travelling for 12 hours. Room was lovely and clean, bed was very comfortable, and nothing was any trouble. Plenty of parking and nice restaurant and bar on site. Fully recommended if you're looking for somewhere to stay. Thank you Orchard House!

20/10/2024: My husband had the cottage pie and I had the Guinness stew. Both were quite tasty and left us very full. The staff were friendly.

09/11/2024: Very efficient and friendly staff. Rooms well laid out and nicely furnished. Very comfortable. Had what we needed for a pleasant stopover. Shared a good homemade pizza in the evening and breakfast was very nicely cooked. Would stay there again

25/10/2024: We were lucky that they accommodated our group of 5. The pasta was just like my mom would make. The burger was delicious as well. Highly recommend!

17/09/2024: Typical Irish restaurant inside a hotel, but with a separate entrance. The food is more varied than the rest and a delicious duck with apricot and vegetables should be highlighted. Dave, the waiter who served us, was very kind and made sure everything was right, wonderful! Highly recommended if you are visiting Kilkenny!
