15/12/2025: This place is awful. The food is terrible, service is worse and it's expensive. We ordered the burger and vol au vent and they were horrible. The salads are bland and disgusting. The server was rude, clueles and didn't even know what lager beer was, so we drank water. Please avoid this place. It was just horrible. I made sure to tell our tour guide never to recommend this place again. In fact, don't bother going to Kilkenny at all. It's not worth it.

23/01/2026: Room is nice, very Comfortable bed. Food was extremely good plus staff servicing the food were excellent and so friendly. Recommend the Orchard House.

31/12/2025: Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful during my stay here. My room was absolutely spotless clean and overall lovely. It is a great location, 20 minute walk from the city, and close to everything else. Overall great experience, would definitely recommend to anyone and would stay again :)

02/02/2026: This is perfect location if visiting Kilkenny for a night out & looking for a central hotel to come back to. We got a great deal which included breakfast & dinner. Staff were all very friendly & welcoming. Food was tasty in the bar. Music was on in the bar from 8 & there was a late night club in the other bar. I wouldn't recommend for a family with kids as there's alot of people coming through the corridors late at night from the clubs. Will return.

30/01/2026: Stad in kilford arms Hotel last weekend and had a brilliant night with some music service was really good food also was lovely couldn't ask for better we are going to make it a common return every few months as an night away with herself... thank you .

11/11/2025: Only there for evening meals and drinks. Some nice cozy corners. Very friendly and engaging staff - very welcoming. Kind of slow mid-week so it felt spacious and quiet.

26/01/2026: Appalling experience with Bollards, specifically their management. I booked the venue for an engagement party, received confirmation, and then one week before the event was phoned and told it was cancelled due to a double booking — a failure that is entirely down to poor management and organisation. By this stage, I had already paid for DJs and decorations, all arranged in good faith based on their confirmed booking. Cancelling a major life event at such short notice shows a complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and respect for customers. This caused unnecessary stress and financial loss during what should have been a special occasion. If this is how management at Bollards handles private events, I would strongly advise others to avoid booking functions here. Completely unreliable.

21/02/2026: Had lunch there, wonderful food (love the vege soup and duck noodle) and service!

20/02/2026: We didn't stay here (will next runner) but stopped for lunch amd have to say... the food was phenomenal, I mean...PHENOMENAL. Avoid touristy nonsense and stop in here for a proper meal, you will not regret it.

16/10/2025: Wedding Venue of our dreams!! Wow! I can’t recommend the Avalon highly enough! Laura is a phenomenal wedding organiser who listens to your vision and brings it to life! She feels like a friend straight away who is fully invested in the day! Peter and Laura then make sure the day runs perfectly, remaining calm and positive throughout! The Avalon is the perfect place for a private wedding where you are the priority for the whole hotel! They could not have been more supportive! I can’t thank them enough for the most perfect day! All of our guests loved it commenting on the gorgeous food, friendly staff and homely rooms!
